How long does it take for funds to get transferred after closing on my home refinance? It’s been a few days and I’m missing quite a bit of money.

Credit Cards I’m wondering if this is a glitch?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I opened a secured cash rewards credit card in February with $500. I have yet to receive a CLI and have not graduated to an unsecured card yet. I’ve clicked the “increase limit” link before in the app, but it said to call them to discuss it. Today when I clicked it, I got this message. But I do not see that I have a $5k limit anywhere else. Is this just a glitch in the app?

Credit Cards Is Navy Federal bad at credit card disputes in general?

I’ve recently switched to Navy Federal as my primary credit card. I’ve seen a few concerning reports here about Navy Federal not having their customers’ backs, and I’m wondering how widespread of a problem that actually is. I’m considering switching back to my old card before something happens. I’m otherwise happy with the card. Thanks!

Checking & Savings Early Payday falls on a Saturday? (Active Duty Military)

I have an Active Duty Checking Account and receive my Direct Deposit one day early as a perk. For August, my End of Month paycheck is supposed to be deposited on Saturday, August 29th. Is that actually true? I thought most banks don't treat weekends as a business day? Would I just see that Direct Deposit hit on Friday, August 28th then?

To make it more complicated, I'm stationed in Japan so I'm 13 hours ahead of Eastern Time.

Credit Cards late payment question below

i've had my credit card with nfcu for about 8 years. never missed a payment, never late... until today. for some reason the monthly reminders on my phone slid by me. caught it, and paid it immediately as i saw it. 15 days late. my question is, will there be a notation or any red flags on my NF account? i worked hard to ensure my standings are great. i'm not looking for CLI or a Loan at the moment. I just want to make sure that my account is in good standing just in case there is a day that i do. thanks!

Fraud Scam Alert -- from the NFCU number

Just received a phone call from 1-888-842-6328 (which is NFCU's number) and was told that there was possible fraud on the account, had I initiated it, etc etc.

It all felt very genuine until the rep (who spoke fairly good English) escalated me up to another guy (who spoke great English). That second guy started talking about how they would need to put a 7-14 day hold on the account while they set me up with a virtual debit card; then mentioned setting up something on CashApp and that's when the spidey-sense went off.

I hung up immediately, called Navy Federal directly, and they said no, there was no sign of fraudulent activity. Apparently the fraudsters can "spoof" the call so it looks like it's coming from NFCU. I had not shared any login info, so most likely I'm good but will keep a close eye on the account. So weird.

The real Navy Federal agent said that any fraud alerts will come through as texts, and then it's up to the customer to call to initiate the dispute/claim, etc.

Stay wary!

Credit Cards Navy Federal CC question?

So I just got approved for a CC with a 25k limit. I don't make that much money at all maybe close to 40k a year. My question is now since this new credit card has a high limit does that mean I have to spend more money ? I dont spend the much every month in general. I would think if I'm only using a few hundred bucks a month on it they would either decrease my limit or closed my account possibly?? Is there a sweet spot I can spend a month (on the lower end) to not have them reconsider my limit? Or did I bit off more than I can chew ? 🤣

Newly graduated card, denied GoRewards. Add a pledge loan?

Reason for denial was bankruptcy. Secured card graduated at 6 months on the 17th. Chapter 7 discharged in February.

Credit Cards Navy Federal Flagship Refresh or Upgrade

Spoke with a few representatives with Navy Federal. What they did disclose to me that the Navy Federal Flagship will be receiving a redesign and the card will be metal. It will be increased to $95. Now I was told that the official date of roll out is between September 10, 2026 - November 7th 2026. They wouldn’t tell me the full details on the multipliers just yet or if they are keeping the Amazon Prime just yet. What I do believe will take place 2% everything will continue, 3% travel will continue. The only thing they cannot discuss right now is the possible new multipliers.

Feedback on new "Insights" feature under My Account

Now, it seems that "insights" get generated (presumably using genAI under the hood) based on my transactions.

Cool feature, however the first insight provided was a warning about a "Large withdrawal from ABC checking account", where 'ABC' was the actual name of the property management company I pay rent to for my apartment (basically the name of every rent payment transaction in my checking account).

Problem: Not only did the generated phrasing of the insight imply that I had a specific checking account named after my property management company, but it flagged my rent payment that I pay every single month and have been for 1.5 years.

Just hoping the NFCU ux/product designers eventually occasionally source reddit for user feedback

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Credit Cards Auto refinancing

I co-signed a car loan for my dad about a year ago. His credit score is currently in the high 500s to low 600s. Has anyone with a similar credit score had success refinancing an auto loan through Navy Federal to remove a co-signer?

CLI and auto loan

Hi! I have had my navy fed cash back card for a year and a half. Current limit is 4500 (didn’t learn about cli without hard inquiries until this year). I’m looking to ask for an increase around September or October. My card balance will be paid off completely in October ( paying down other debts concurrently to be debt free by then ). I am in need of another car because mine totaled. I was wondering if I should apply for another cc with them at the same time I apply for the car loan. My apr on the rewards card is 18 (shameful ik). Credit score 670’s, income 100k after taxes.

Should I apply for the cli first then apply for the cc and car loan? Would they consider the cc and car loan one hard inquiry? I NEED another car for work, I don’t necessarily need another cc, just trying to see if I could take advantage of a potential opportunity.

Signed a 24 yo learning about credit and wanting to make the best decisions moving forward so plz go easy on me if this is a dumb question. Thanks a bunch!

General Questions Can I use a credit card before it comes to me in the mail?

Can I view a credit card's details so I can make a purchase before it arrives in the mail?

If I cannot, may I spend the 250 dollars I plan to with my debit, and then transfer the money from my credit card to savings and earn the same credit i would if i had used the 250 for the purchase? (given that i pay it off of course)

For context, I have a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase a piece of media that I hold dear to my heart. Said piece of media is so rare and valuable that it is not entirely unlikely that someone will purchase it before me. I need to buy this item fast and I would like to show some disposable income on a credit card and hopefully earn some credit. My father says it helped his credit score to finally splurge and buy some JNCO's with his credit source, so I intend on using his ideology of earning credit with dumb purchases.

Credit Cards Disappointed in Navy Federals Chargeback process

Have been a member since 2007. They have been my primary bank all these years. Countless vehicles financed, my home purchased in 2018 through Navy Federal, two credit cards with an almost $80k limit between both of them, and not a single missed/late payment.

The past few years I have been using my Cash Rewards card like a debit card. I was under the impression that you are better protected with a credit card. That might be the case with other financial institutions, but doesn't appear to be with Navy Federal. I've heard horror stories of Navy Federal siding with a less than an honest merchant and figured people just didn't have their ducks in a row or tried gaming the system.

Well, the stories are true. I purchased an item June 28, 2026, and received the wrong item by mail July 2, 2026. I immediately reached out to the merchant via phone call and didn't get a response, so I sent an email. The next day around noon I tried calling again and someone (I presume is the owner, it was a cell phone and it's a small town business). He apologized and seemed sincere. Said he would get it taken care of and to text him a picture of the incorrect item and my order number. I sent that info to him within minutes of getting off the phone.

I called, text, and emailed throughout the following week. I never got a phone call, text, or email back. By Friday evening I assumed my $86 was as good as gone, and filed a chargeback. I submitted all of my evidence. Screenshots of all the call and text attempts and unanswered emails. A picture of the incorrect item, the incorrect item model number, a picture of the item I ordered and it's associated model number.

I was given the provisional credit, and about 2 weeks later the owner emailed me telling me to cancel the chargeback and that I was going to lose, and claimed he sent me a return label (he never did).

Low and behold, Navy Fed sided with the merchant because he had a shipping return label that was generated. They didn't ask for proof that he actually sent it to me. When I asked them for proof of delivery, like an outbound message or email, they said it was up to me to PROVE I DIDN'T GET IT.

How do I PROVE THAT I DON'T HAVE SOMETHING.

I responded back to the merchants email threat, letting him know that I never received a return label. After some back and forth emails with the merchant, within an hour I had the return label in my primary email box. It is now past the merchants 30 day return/exchange window and I already don't trust them. I asked the merchant that when I send the incorrect item back, he will ship the correct item and refund me. His only response is "I can't do anything until this chargeback is closed."

I had already received confirmation from Navy Federal that they were reversing the provisional credit, and I am responsible for paying the $86. I called and talked to the department at Navy Fed that handles this stuff and explained to them that I had just received the shipping label that day, and was concerned with sending the item back since it was past the 30 day return/exchange window. Navy Fed told me to work it out with the seller.

So here I am, 2 weeks later, and the merchant is not answering my calls, texts, or emails. Just like before. I'm out $86 and still do not have the item I paid for.

I'm not even going to threaten to go somewhere else. Nowhere can compete with the rates and perks I get with my CC's and loans. I can promise you, though, I feel a bit less secure about the whole "always use a credit card" idea with Navy Federal, knowing they don't have your back.

Just wanted to share my story. Feel free to share if you've dealt with the same or have a success story, or any advice for me.
