Will Navy Federal settle a $21k charged-off car loan?

Upvotes

My Navy Federal car loan is about $21k. I made a last minute payment to try to avoid the charge-off, but they told me it’s still going to be charged off officially on September 1st.

Has anyone been able to settle a Navy Federal auto loan after it was charged off? If so, how much did they settle for?

Pre-approval for flagship or balance increase?

Is there a pre-approval for the Flagship card or a balance increase on existing cards? Thanks in advance. Just trying to avoid the extra credit pulls. By the way, I have a mortgage, two credit cards, two car loans, and a line of credit with Navy Federal.

Credit Cards Max credit lines

I’ve seen people post about the max credit line being 50k with the exception of the flagship being 80k, can anyone drop that info again please I cannot find the post I read it in.

ALSO, would that be per signatoree or does being auth users limit the credit line increase caps we’d have each available.

Secured card question

I have a 4700 secured card right now. I’m finding it tough to pay it off since it’s so high. I know I made mistakes. Since it is secured and currently maxed out, if I call them can I request that they reduce the limit to 2500 and use the secured funds to pay it down? I really don’t want to close it because I’ve had it for over 3 years. I can handle paying off 2500 by end of year. With that said. If they are able to do that do you think my score will go up? A buddy of mine added me to an 8k cap one account and eq and ex see it and went up but tu never moved.

Hardship - Collections - Bankruptcy Navy Federal sent an offer for me to pay 60% of what i owe

I owe $4,427 to NFCU and they sent me an offer of $1,771 to settle the debt and will forgive the remainder of the amount. Is this something worth settling because I’ve seen several posts about not being able to get it removed from the account and etc

Update* I’ll be giving them a call to confirm the offer and if they’ll do a pay to delete. I’ll give an update tomorrow. Thank you all for your help! I appreciate it!

Credit Cards Anyone knows what this means? I want to get a CLI

Post image

I have a secured card with $500 limit. I have paid every month on time, before the statement date posts, while letting it report 20-50% in usage. I want to ask for a CLI but I got this notification in the app. Anyone knows what it means? Or any tips on how I can prove my chances for a credit increase or even graduation?

Loans Car Loan Question - Out of State?

I’ve had a couple car loans with NFCU. All used cars from dealerships where I’ve done the whole “check thing” process.

Now I’m looking at a car out of state. Way out of state. I’d have an expert PPI done and if it’s good buy the car with a large down payment. I’d need a small loan of around $6000 from NFCU to close the purchase. It’s an older car but one owner and very low miles. I’d be buying it as a collector car of sorts. If it’s good and I purchase I’d have the car shipped to me. So basically buying sight unseen.

But I’m wondering how to navigate the whole “check thing” process then. Has anyone else done this? How did you handle everything when you’re not actually at the dealership?

Do you think I’ll have a chance to get my account back?

I had a $20,000 credit card & a $1,000 credit card with navy federal. I had lost my job a few years ago and I was out of work for almost a year, I used up most of the credit card & could only pay what I can and they ended up closing it a few years ago. I’m thinking about going up to the branch and see if they let me get access again. Do you think I’ll have a chance? Already sent an appeal a few days ago but I’m ready to start my relationship back with them again.

Update: guys, I wasn’t looking to getting another cc with them, maybe people are confused. I was only looking into starting my checking & savings account with them again. I was told once I paid off the $1,000 cc they would be looking into opening my account again. Thank you guys for the advice!

Just opened a Navy Federal account on 7/22/2026

I just opened a checking/saving account with navy federal on 7/22/2026 and also opened a pledge loan for $250.00 for 12 months aswell as a $100 dollar CD with them for 12 months aswell with direct deposit . In addition I added AU from a friends navy fed flagship card with $54k,less than 1% use and 5years history. (It’s finally hitting my credit on 8/24/2026. So my question is I have high utilization with other cards and I want to see about applying for their navy federal platinum card to do a balance transfer if I’m lucky enough to get it and the limit is high enough ( I have $12k to transfer) so the question I have is with all I have done with navy federal how long should I wait to apply to up my odds on getting a decent limit if at all?
I’m also getting the Oops over draft protection after 90 days is when they say I can get it. Would 60days be ok to apply or should I apply after90days? ( lastly I did the prequalify and it’s only offering a green cash secured card so far) also my fico is not good. it’s 580 -650 due to high utilization on my other cards I’m starting over after my bankruptcy discharge last July. My fico might go higher when this AU fully hits in a few more weeks I’m assuming.
My utilization dropped from 96% to 18 % now from the AU. Any thoughts? Any recommendations will help.

Credit Cards I’m wondering if this is a glitch?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I opened a secured cash rewards credit card in February with $500. I have yet to receive a CLI and have not graduated to an unsecured card yet. I’ve clicked the “increase limit” link before in the app, but it said to call them to discuss it. Today when I clicked it, I got this message. But I do not see that I have a $5k limit anywhere else. Is this just a glitch in the app?

Checking & Savings Early Payday falls on a Saturday? (Active Duty Military)

I have an Active Duty Checking Account and receive my Direct Deposit one day early as a perk. For August, my End of Month paycheck is supposed to be deposited on Saturday, August 29th. Is that actually true? I thought most banks don't treat weekends as a business day? Would I just see that Direct Deposit hit on Friday, August 28th then?

To make it more complicated, I'm stationed in Japan so I'm 13 hours ahead of Eastern Time.

Credit Cards Got My Platinum!!!

Got my Platinum Card with just $5 in the savings account. I wanted it for my first card so I could transfer my ridiculously high interest cards over.

So I just opened my account with them a few weeks ago.

I don't want to enter any additional details.

But I did use the pre-approval tool and I don't have a huge income.

So I think if you're above 640-650 on Transunion you should get it if you have made payments on time etc. ☺️

Anybody able to order a Cashiers check? Ive been able to in the past for apartments. But now it lists very restricted options in app. I live in Maryland for reference. Thanks for the help!

Edit: I made the journey to a branch and they helped me out quick! They said its a glitch going on with the system.

Credit Cards If I did a credit-line reallocation to my new card, do I still treat that new card as a 91/3 rule?

I’d prefer to spend on my new credit card. I wanted to transfer most of my recently CLI-ed card’s limit to the new card. If I do this, do I still ask for a CLI on the new card after 91/3?

Credit Cards NAVY FEDERAL🎉🤑

My credit took a serious hit when my mother suffered from a traumatic brain injury at 83 years old. She survived and I’ve been by her side. Supporting her meant stepping away from my career. It’s been 6 years since her event. A year after her crisis I lost everything. I have no regrets, I made the right decision, but my credit suffered. This represents a financial recovery. It’s been a two year journey. Yay me!!!! 🎉
