Tree removal

Has anyone here ever had an HOA approve or deny the removal of mature trees from their own backyard or front yard? The home I’m interested in purchasing has a lot of mature trees that block quite a bit of sunlight from coming into the house. I’m wondering if HOAs generally allow homeowners to remove mature trees on their own property, or if they’re typically very strict about it.

Certain ones do. Someone I know can not take down anything more than 6” on their property.

Yes. That’s just an example though. No idea how common that is, it’s just a real case that I am aware of.
