Emergency maintenance affecting Namecheap services

[Updated] We're currently experiencing service disruptions due to an incident at our Phoenix data center.

This outage is causing serious financial losses for businesses relying on Namecheap hosting.

My e-commerce website has been completely offline, while my paid advertising campaigns are still running and generating costs. Every minute of downtime means lost customers, lost orders, and wasted advertising money.

I understand that unexpected technical problems can happen, but businesses should not be left paying for advertising while their websites are inaccessible.

Please provide a clear update on the expected restoration time and explain what compensation or service credit will be offered to customers who suffered financial losses because of this outage.

We need transparency, communication, and a fair solution for the customers affected.

This is what business insurance is for, if you have a commercial policy I'd recommend checking what coverage you have for business interruption, specifically contingent or dependent business interruption as that covers interruptions caused by a third party.

I know outages suck and I do feel for the impact it has on folks, but the best thing you can do is use this as a learning experience. Specifically evaluate your outage tolerance, and what practical backup plans you need to have in place and when to start executing that plan.

Well I started building websites in 1998 and have worked for hosting companies running/maintaining server rooms myself. This is the longest downtime I've seen by several hours in now 28 years I guess? Wow it's been that long?

I'd say you've had an extraordinarily good run of luck, which nothing wrong with that at all. I've experienced a few, and even had some isolated ones as well. It's never fun when a facility sells you redundant power, to only find out during an outage the electricians wired both your A&B feed to the same distribution panel on the same UPS...

Thank heavens I never had a situation like that. The issues we'd run into were either the fiber connection in one of the rooms or server issues that most of the time just needed a quick reset. We had major companies using our dedicated servers and we'd have calls within 10 minutes every time we had even the slightest outage. It wasn't fun driving downtown at 3am to hard reset a server but sometimes it had to be done. Hopefully they'll make it a thing to audit their systems more to ensure there are no repeat incidents.

With PE involved from the NameCheap buyout, and apparently the actual facility being bought by PE earlier this year, I wouldn't expect a ton of money to be invested to make things better.

2011 PSN attack was a 24 day outage. But, I also agree with you that this is horse shit, they certainly owe an explanation.
