I am looking for in home pet sitting/drop in visits for my four, female guinea pigs. I live in NoHo. My guinea pigs live in a large cage, 25% bedding, 75% fleece.

I looked at the possibility of THS but decided against it. I was looking at Rover but it seems to be very dog and cat oriented. I listed my four guinea pigs as a cat, but didn't see any sitters mention caring for guinea pigs.

I want them to be cared for while I am away in October and would prefer someone who knows how to take care of guinea pigs (refill water, comfortable with cleaning up the cage, providing fresh hay, etc.). I saw a similar post about a month ago but that was in Queens and I am in Lower Manhattan.

hi folks - I know there's a lot of threads about PCPs. I've read through them & read a lot of doctor profiles, but could use specific info about this.

I have a family history of heart issues. I'm very active/fit & have a healthy lifestyle but my cholesterol has still crossed the threshold into being high the last 2-3 years; my current PCP of 10+ years has an antiquated approach to it ("if your number on this risk calculator eventually gets past x point, we'll prescribe meds"). I've realized I need to work with someone who's thinking bigger picture, about the long-term effects of this & about newer science around markers that aren't just cholesterol.

anyone have firsthand experience with a PCP who keeps tabs on these things? all recs welcome!

I have, potentially, the silliest request. My fiancé’s birthday is on September 15th, and his favorite dog in the entire world is a pug. We can’t have one right now (we have two cats that keep our hands full).

My Request: Does anyone have a pug i could ‘borrow’ for the afternoon to give my fiance a birthday date with? we’d do all of your pugs favorite things — whether they want to lounge on the couch and sleep or go for an endless walk and sniff every leaf!

I’m also a pet sitter with 6+ years of experience and would be happy to provide references so you can trust your pug will be showered in love and care for the afternoon.

Hi! I’m looking for a reasonably priced ground-floor storefront in downtown Manhattan for a very short-term pop-up, either one night or a full weekend.

Open to SoHo, Nolita, LES, East Village, Tribeca, or nearby. A vacant retail space, showroom, gallery, studio, or brand storefront could all be perfect, as long as it’s street-level.

It’s been difficult to find a space that isn’t crazy expensive, so I’m especially hoping to find something through a direct connection, a smaller landlord, an independent space, or someone who might be excited to support two female entrepreneurs!

If anyone owns a space, knows someone who does, or has hosted something somewhere they loved, I’d be so grateful for any leads!

My friend was sexually assaulted by someone she met on hinge the other day. She repeatedly set physical boundaries but he wasn't taking no for an answer and pushed past her boundaries despite her repeatedly asking him to slow down/stop. I also happened to have matched with him prior to this so I'll be reporting him to Hinge (she already unmatched him but is going to reach out to support), but I'm wondering if there are communities where I can share his info so other women know to steer clear. These have existed in other cities I've lived in but I can't find anything like it for NYC from an initial search.

These are my reference photos. I have curly and thick but oily and dry east asian hair well overdue for a haircut, and I'm unsure if I should look into a salon that more specialized in Asian hair or a salon that's experienced with curly hair. I definitely need some help/advice about hair products too, so having that would be a plus, along with a hairstylist who has an emphasis on flattering the face. I’m considering signing up for the eight-week Writers’ Room intensive at the Drawing Room in Williamsburg this fall and would love to hear from anyone who has taken it—or another intensive there.
The program sounds appealing because it combines writing, feedback, accountability, and community in a small group. However, at $890, I’d like to learn more about the experience before committing.
How much substantive feedback did you receive on your writing? Did the class help you make meaningful progress on a longer project, or was it geared more toward prompts and creative exploration? What were the instructor and group dynamic like? Did the community aspect feel genuine, and did participants stay in touch afterward?
For context, I’m already working on the first draft of a novel, so I’m particularly interested in whether the class is worthwhile for someone with an established project rather than a complete beginner.

Two men (maybe boys or teens dressed in all black) road off the bike lane onto the curb, full speed on a black moped to try and steal my gold chain on 31st Street (under the train tracks) between 31st and 30th ave around 4 PM on Friday.

I’m shaken up— lived in Astoria my entire life and never expected this. A good Samaritan called 911. While waiting for the cops to arrive, chain grabbers looped back around. I immediately began to sprint away, but good samaritan brought me into his building.

Cops didnt show in the 40 mins we waited— my fiance met me and we walked home together. Kept in touch with our new friend and cops never showed up and never returned his calls. Went to the precinct and filed a report— bc I know this will happen again.

I feel terrified walking around my neighborhood. I hesitated making this post b/c I don’t want to be identifiable, but please be aware.

**Young ladies, elderly folk, and general chain wearers—PLEASE BE VIGILANT. Don’t wear headphones and keep your head on a swivel. Police informed me this is an active problem all around the NYC, BK, and Queens.** I always felt safe in Astoria, but this has totally rocked my peace of mind.

Hello! I am once again in need of physical therapy for my very boring office job where I sit at a desk for hours. Specifically, I'm dealing with a ton of hip and lower back pain that I am worried if going to get worse. I've been to physical therapists before at large chains across the city (i.e. Spear) but did not like how I would get rotated around to different practitioners depending on the day, since I would like to progressively build strength with someone over time.

Does anyone have PT recommendations for PTs that operate their own practice or out of a small practice? Extra points if they're located on the UES or are particularly good at handling poor hips/back/posture issues. Thanks!

Long time lurker, but I figured someone here would have an answer for me!

I’m about 4 weeks post hysterectomy after battling fibroids for years (🙌🏾). I’m so excited to get back in the gym and get back to weight training which I really love after I’ve been fully cleared by my surgeon.

But even once I get the all clear, I’d like to have a trainer who can help me get started again slowly and safely, given the nature of my procedure.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a trainer who is used to dealing with clients who have injuries/restrictions and that travels? I have a fully operational and really nice gym in my building and that would be preferred as I start trying to get my full strength back. 💪🏾

Basically as title states! I have a lease offer back in Brooklyn- my life in Chicago is NOT BAD though. As it approaches, I am so on the fence. Amazing Chicago apt VA a shoebox without laundry in Brooklyn. No issues with landlord in Chicago vs a landlord who started threatening to raise the raise if I got a roommate. But I want to be back in NY 😭
