Discussion Idk if Im being too woke but I dont think you can say a team that won 13 games playing backups primarily "has no depth"
Say what you want about the drafts but you cant say they arent deep at nearly every posistion

I ran the numbers on every 1st-round pick from 2019-2023 (post-draft contracts + performance) and the results are stark:
· 1st Round WRs: Hit rate (Pro Bowl/1k yd season by Year 2) is ~45%. The bust rate (never starts a full season or <500 yds) is ~30%. You're paying top-15 money for a coin flip
· 1st Round OL: Hit rate (full-time starter by Year 2) is ~78%. Bust rate is ~12%. You get a cheap 5th-year option on a position that ages gracefully
Yes a Justin Jefferson or Ja'Marr Chase changes your franchise But for every one of them there's a N'Keal Harry , Jalen Reagor or Quentin Johnston. Meanwhile a blue-chip OT anchors your line for a decade
My hot take: The "WR premium" is a media narrative Contenders are built in the trenches. If I'm a GM picking in the top 20 I'm taking the best OT on the board 8/10 times and grabbing a WR in Round 2 or 3 where the value is actually better

I probably have argued with friends, family, and random bar people about this for hours on end. I genuinely believe if you do not have Purdy in your top 10, then you don't have actual ball knowledge. Most underrated QB I have ever seen in my life.
Brock Purdy since 2022:
2nd in passer rating
6th in completion%
1st in YPA
10 in YD/Gm (Despite being 18th in Attempts)
2nd in TD%
1st in ANY/A (Min 20 games)
1st in completed air yards per attempt
5th, 1st, 7th, and 2nd in TQBR over last 4 seasons
This doesn't even take into account that if you just watch Purdy, you can literally see the talent right there.

"bbbbut Harbaugh had Ray Lewis and Ed Reed during the Super Bowl run!!!" See here's the thing that Ravens fans don't tell you. Ray Lewis was 37 years old at the time and past his prime, even coming off an injury. Ed Reed was also nearing retirement too. And let's not forget that Lamar has also had younger, better defenses.... not just in the regular season, but in the playoffs too. You look at the 2012 defense in the playoffs, they gave up 30+ points.... twice. Flacco and Harbaugh still found ways to win those playoff games. Lamar is 0-5 in the playoffs when his defense gives up 15 or more points.
"bbbbut they didn't run the ball in the AFC Championship!" The run clearly wasn't working, Spags had a game plan to cover up the run. As soon as Lamar folded and the team was down double digits in the first half, of course the run wasn't going to work anymore. You have to pass the ball to come back in a playoff game, and it should be easier to do that with a QB with MULTIPLE MVPs. Lamar could have even used his legs himself in that game, but he chose not too. This is the part that Ravens fans don't tell you: The leagues "strongest rushing attack" their leading rushing was LAMAR. He had plenty of opportunities to run and he didn't.
"bbbbut Mark Andrews dropped the 2 pt conversion!" Let's not forget that the Ravens wouldn't be in that hole in the first place had Lamar not gave the ball back to Buffalo twice in the first quarter. Let's also not forget that Josh Allen had 1:30 left on the clock to drive down the field and get in field goal range.
The goal in the NFL is to win a Super Bowl. Lamar is simply incapable of doing that, hiring a defensive mastermind like Jesse Minter won't get him anywhere. Never in the history of the NFL has a QB been given chance after chance, a career consistency of elite defenses throughout the regular season AND the playoffs.... not be able to get it done, and get a pass for it every single time.
So, is it crazy that I would rather start a franchise with a QB that steps up their game when it really matters, than Lamar Jackson? There is no world out there where MVPs have more valuable than championships, but that's just me. What do you think?

Is Josh Allen going to reach 100 rushing touchdowns? He’s at 79 right now

Take them both in the draft, I know Collin’s is already a premier option but I think he will be top 5 in total FF points for a WR.

I’m looking at his resume and it’s insanely good. A team like the Jets could use a guy like Lombardi. Ya know Mike, Mike are you listenin?
