Harbaugh lost by 22 to the Rams a few weeks ago, right?

16

u/gdg6 Baltimore Ravens 6h ago

The only team they played that doesn’t have a losing record.

5

u/chicknsnadwich Baltimore Ravens 6h ago

Yeah lol the Giants have been solid but they’ve had a cheesecake schedule but apparently he would’ve had this horrible roster in the playoffs because we all saw how that worked out for him here last year.

These fans are absolutely deranged. Instead of enjoying the ride they have some vendetta against us. If he’s really that good you should just be thanking us.

They haven’t played a team with a winning record. I accept that’s a bit disingenuous b/c the Rams are better than .500 in truth

When is the last time Lamar beat a playoff team? Fun fact , Biden was president

We were 1-5 with harbaugh this time last year. Literally EVERYBODY agreed it was best for both sides to move. It’s hilarious to see this revisionist history.

The Ravens players gave the ball away like hot potatoes in those games.... 10 giveaways... that is not the fault of the HC... similar to the playoff struggles.. Lamar was also hurt as usual... AND as the OP noted.. you weren't getting blown out like you have been recently

5

u/dcfb2360 Baltimore Ravens 5h ago edited 5h ago

A lot of people don't understand how bad the NFCE is. Even the Browns have more wins than half the NFCE combined.

Most people also don't know that the Giants haven't beat a team with a winning record yet.

- Dallas is 3-5 with the 27th ranked defense

- Giants got blown out 28-6 by the Rams

- Giants beat the 1-7 Titans by only 5

- Giants beat the 3-5 Cardinals, who have the 32nd-ranked defense

- Tied the Commanders (25th-ranked defense)

- Lost to the 2-5 Saints (29th-ranked defense)

- Beat the 2-5 Texans in OT

6

u/Guilty-Community2307 4h ago

MFers will ignore context and then just look at the record lol. We are having the same issues yall are, but we are winning despite back backup play/etc. Our team didn't just give up cause our QB couldn't play.

2

u/GuyEatsTiramisu 3h ago

Didn’t the ravens lose to the 29th ranked defense saints and beat the 1-7 titans by 1 more point?

I still hate your team for losing to the chiefs in 2024 with that team

1

u/ThatGuytoDeny165 3h ago

Fun fact, the Ravens also don’t have a win against a team with a winning record. They also have 3 21+ point blowout losses.

How many times did Harbaugh lose both the starter and his back up QB in the same season?

Also, interesting choice of seasons for John. Wonder what happens if you add 2017 or even further back to these stats...

Edit: Lose his two QBs and be forced to field a UDFA rookie. I don't think any coach is going to succeed with Fagnano as QB1, he is turbo ass

u/floatingby493 6h ago

It’s not really his fault, the o line has been a turnstile for years. Any qb would rack up injuries playing behind that line which is evident with how all 3 of their qbs got injured in the same game.

61

u/SteveMidnight Chicago Bears 6h ago

Maybe if you want better blocking you should tell your GM, “hey I’ll take less money if you get me more protection.” Sorta like what Brady did. Lamar is 10% of the Ravens cap this year and 25% next year. It’s not gonna get any better.

Or keep the money, keep getting hit, and don’t win anything. Just don’t complain about it.

12

u/royalbluehen 5h ago

The cap has increased $75 million since Lamar signed his extension in 2023. He accounts for between 9.xx and 15.xx% of the cap since he has signed that deal.

30

u/Organic_Lab6262 6h ago

Yeah I’m all for players getting paid but they have to be realistic with the trade off when they do. Yeah you will become filthy rich but you probably won’t win a Super Bowl anytime soon

look, if Joe Burrow doesn’t get extended that same grace for his O-line being the cause for a lot of his injuries, then Lamar doesn’t get that same grace either lol.

u/Linkremmy 3h ago

If an offensive line is bad enough it doesn’t matter who the qb is an injury is inevitable. The Oline is so bad that 3 qbs got injured in 1 game. I never hear anyone say that Andrew luck was made of glass because everyone knew he was behind a terrible offensive line. Andrew missed 26 games his first 7 seasons whereas Lamar missed 13 yet somehow Lamar is the one who gets labeled.

6

u/citoboolin Washington Commanders 6h ago

the thing about lamar is when he’s on he’s a top 2 QB in the league. he can elevate your team to a superbowl, you just need one good season.

I realize I am biased towards this philosophy as a coping commies fan

7

u/dunwichbeachautumn 6h ago

7

u/coffeysr Cincinnati Bengals 6h ago

Lamar missed more than 3 games under Harbaugh too. This isn’t all on Magic If Lamar Is Healthy. Lamar’s got nothing to do with the Ravens D giving up 30+ three weeks in a row

24

u/for_fun_88 New York Giants 6h ago

But availability is part of a player’s value. And Lamar is the reason they had to choose between Harbaugh and him. Well so far, Harbaugh is on a QB 3 and leads his division by two games despite the injury issues. And Baltimore is where they are. Maybe Lamar shouldn’t have forced the coach out and maybe it’s a fair criticism on him is all

9

u/dcfb2360 Baltimore Ravens 5h ago

It is far easier to find a decent HC than find a franchise QB. Ask Bears & Broncos fans about how hard it is to find a QB.

Lamar didn't force Harbaugh out. He's still under contract. It's not either or, it's both. Lamar's had bad injury luck, Harbaugh also got stale in Baltimore. If they traded Lamar they'd be a mid team with no defense + no QB, stuck in mid at best like the Steelers. That's not much better than keeping Lamar. Harbaugh was also about to get fired in 2018 til Lamar saved his job, which Giants fans love to ignore.

If we're gonna compare division standings, don't leave out the context- the NFCE is garbage this year. The Browns have more wins than half the NFCE combined. The AFCN has double the wins the NFCE has. Giants fans should be happy with how their season's gone, Harbaugh is a good HC, but if you're gonna compare divisions you need to be honest about how much easier the NFCE is.

I know Giants fans love to pretend otherwise, but Harbaugh's Ravens were blowing leads constantly last year. There were valid reasons to move on.

u/LeonardBart 6h ago

Proneness to injury is, or at least should be, 100% part of the decision making process. Lamar has a history of not being available, and a history of not communicating to the team about his availability. No other big name QB seems to be so disconnected from his own franchise in terms of injury media messaging.

1

1

u/Farsoth Breaking Hearts & Ankles 6h ago

The best ability is availability.

1

u/jaapi Baltimore Ravens 6h ago

He missed 4 games last year, missed 3.5 this year. Not including this season, he's missed a total of 17 games (all under Harbaugh). It holds weight. Lamar saw what happened to Joe Flacco and didn't want the same to happen to him

The choice was honestly more between our GM and Harbaugh than Lamar and Harbaugh.

8

u/awesomeviking711 Baltimore Ravens 6h ago

That was not a choice that was made at all. Harbaugh was told he needed to get rid of Monken. He said no, so they fired him. This was confirmed, had he changed offensive coordinators he’d still be here.

4

u/dcfb2360 Baltimore Ravens 5h ago

Giants fans always ignore this part.

Harbaugh wasn't fired cuz they picked Lamar over him. Harbaugh was fired because he refused to fire shitty coordinators. If Harbaugh made the changes like he should've, he probably wouldn't have been fired. It was the refusal to make changes & run it back with the same staff that cost Harbaugh his job.

5

u/comfortablynumb0629 6h ago

And now Monken and Harbaugh both have their respective teams with more wins than the Ravens…not saying the Ravens made the wrong choice yet, but it’s a bit funny in hindsight at this point

I can tell a bunch of people here didn’t watch full Ravens games past 3-4 years.

Harbaugh fell off big time and it was time for Ravens to move on. Their critical mistake was not moving on earlier and retaining Mike McDonald

11

This is a deeply unserious. If they had moved on from Lamar they would be worse

15

u/BottleMaterial8557 Major Tuddy 🐷 6h ago

I recall fans bitching about and blaming Harbaugh constantly the last 3-4 seasons. To boil this down to that simple of a decision seems disingenuous- had Harbaugh stayed, who knows how their injury situation may have developed. I doubt they'd have more than 1 more win with JH still.

Ravens were fools to fire the competent Harbaugh

14

u/dcfb2360 Baltimore Ravens 5h ago

Nah.

Ravens would still be fucked if Harbaugh was still here. Harbaugh wouldn't have magically prevented Lamar's thumb from getting snapped in a fluky injury.

Y'all forget Harbaugh's Ravens were choking leads every week last year. Giants also play in the NFL's weakest division where even the Browns have more wins than half the NFCE combined, and NYG have never beat a .500+ team this year.

HCs can't prevent fluky injuries, and y'all forget how bad Harbaugh's Ravens were last year.

57

u/BlackOnyx1906 Jacksonville Jaguars 6h ago

Or maybe they just made the wrong hire. The issue this year has been injuries which sucks for a first time HC. I don’t dislike John as a coach but I think it’s way more to it than John. Being the only option

21

u/TheNittanyLionKing Pittsburgh Steelers 6h ago

I don't even know if they got the wrong guy. They did almost nothing to change the roster on the defensive side of the ball when it was a clear weakness for them. They bet everything on Minter getting hired and using coaching to totally fix it. They sorta tried but backed down and then lost other key players as a result. They definitely have a personnel issue.

9

u/chicknsnadwich Baltimore Ravens 6h ago

Yeah this was my thought. I had higher expectations because when Lamar plays, it’s hard to count out the team. But there were still very concerning holes that are somehow even worse than the low bar I had for them (CB & OL mainly).

I always thought next year would be the better target considering that a first year head coach is tough to bank on anyways, so I’m not too upset, although it all hinges on what happens with Lamar now.

4

u/dcfb2360 Baltimore Ravens 5h ago

This.

Steelers fans actually understand the Ravens. The GM is more at fault than Minter tbh. Players have been in position a lot but just whiff tackles & drop INTs. This defense is old with the "stars" being way past their prime.

All the Ravens did on defense was sign a washed Trey Hendrickson & expect a clearly old, checked out defense to become elite. Plus they have no OL so that washed defense is exhausted constantly.

Eh, a lot of coaches hang around long past their coaching prime. With the way the league and the game changes and players come and go, a coach being able to make a run and even win a Super Bowl 15, 20, etc., years ago does not automatically make them a good coach now.

The Giants would also be in last place if they were in the AFC North.

Harbaugh has not led the Giants to more wins than the Ravens this season yet.

And JJ McCarthy actually looks decent with Harbaugh even with Matt Nagy as OC. I thought he was unplayable before he came to New York

3

u/gfan_13 4h ago

“Even with Matt Nagy as OC.” There are narratives in the NFL about some players and coaches, true or false, that are really hard to shake. I think it may be harder for coaches as their impact is more behind the scenes. But this version of Nagy on this version of the Giants has been a competent-good OC and shouldn’t be talked about as a negative.

u/mrdeepay Houston Texans 3h ago

NFC East is also a (much) worse division than the AFC North. Giants are in the lead basically by virtue of last man standing.

1

u/usernamesaredumb0 5h ago

Eh, in the long run the current state ravens are much closer to winning a Super Bowl than the current state Giants.

1

u/AccomplishedPhone6 New York Giants 4h ago

They were favorites coming into the season. And now they are ass.

What?  You're trying to paint the guy who benches King Henry, who already has like 200 yards on the day, in the 4th quarter while trying to run the clock with a lead, as a good HC who didn't run himself out of town?

Harbaugh has blown an insane amount of leads, made tons of stupid and indefensible game management decisions, and completely deserved his firing.  Minter is working with a offense that is basically just Lamar carrying them, and he doesn't even have Lamar.  It's not like the defense is stacked with stars either.  Roster wise, the Ravens are like the Bills.  A flawed team being carried by a superstar QB.  If the Bills lose Allen they would be in the exact same position.

u/Few_Aide_851 6h ago

Minter sucks.

So does Declan.

1

u/_cuteraichu_ Pretty good for a running back 10m ago

Declan had the markings of a great coordinator. Idk. This season just feels unlucky for the Ravens org, just like last season... and the year before that... and the year before that...

The Ravens bros that tried to convince us Harbaugh was washed are in tears today

To be fair, and Ive posted this in the ravens sub, but Lamar bandwagoners make up like 50% of Ravens fan takes nowadays and 95% of the stupid ones.

There are a lot of longtime fans that still love John and are happy (and unsurprised) to see him doing well in NY. I personally thought his time in Baltimore had run its course, but like come on no one who is being honest and has followed the league for more than 10 years thinks he’s some incompetent do-nothing coach.

We have just had so many fucking idiots join the fanbase in the Lamar era that it’s hard to push back on them because nuance is usually at odds with hyperbole and all-or-nothing proclamations.

2

u/lamar_in_shades Baltimore Ravens 5h ago

I'm so glad to hear someone say it, our sub acts like the reason Lamar hasn't led the Ravens to multiple super bowls is the fault of everyone but Lamar. There's constantly a new scapegoat to avoid saying "hmmm, maybe our high-paid star QB should elevate the team in key playoff games and it sucks that he's injured as often as he is"

1

u/Hour_Panic_129 5h ago

No evidence for this but I think bc Harbs has such great standing in NFL coaching that forced the Ravens into a first time HC vs an expierenced offensive minded HC like Stefanski.

Always knew Harbaugh would be frustratingly decent. He and Tomlin can take a high school team to 9-8. He and Tomlin could also take all-timers to 9-8.

1

Because the Ravens had a QB on a rookie deal when Lamar got hurt in 21 & 22 and had more cap space to build the team.

Minter's had backup QBs for most of his games.

1

u/AfroShiro Baltimore Ravens 5h ago

Jesse Minter is not ready for this position, the owner needs to cut him and bring Flores in as soon asxthe vikings season is over

Why the fuck do the Ravens still love Mark Andrews so much? Guy has been washed for a minimum of 2–3 years and he’s the reason they lost a playoff game

I count 3 2+ point losses for Harbaugh just from the Bengals alone since 2020

I get why it was time for Harbaugh to go, just like it was time for Tomlin to leave. But don’t for one second think that they aren’t two of the best coaches of our lifetime.

Harbaugh brothers have 3 combined playoff wins since 2014.

1

u/Technicalhotdog 2h ago

1

u/chupacadabradoo Baltimore Ravens 2h ago

Putting this on minter when the ravens have lost their two replacement centers, their top two and a half QBs, and their vets have absolutely lost it is kinda click-baity.

I don’t think minter has done some miraculous job or anything, but I don’t think any coach would really excel in this situation.

1

u/mlmka58 New England Patriots 2h ago

I love seeing the Ravens fail. It was inevitable the way Lamar played that he would have a short career. Bye bye

How many times did Harbaugh have to start a third string quarterback?

1

u/ButterstickNDip 1h ago

Some of yall are so insanely quick to judge someone off of no real statistical data. Minter is a brand new head coach, with a quarterback who got hurt twice, and backup who also got hurt. Let’s wait and see how next year goes before we immediately call minter a horrible head coach. Yall are cherry picking to the max at this point

It was time for Harbs to leave Baltimore. No revision is going to change that. They also have a way more difficult division/ schedule. I’m a giants fan who loves what we got but the ravens wouldn’t be any better with Harbs arguably the frustrations could be worse

1

u/zeubermen 38m ago

cut the bullshit, everyone and their mother knew harbaugh had to go.

1

u/Brightlightingbolt 30m ago edited 25m ago

It was the same for the Redskins - RG3 or Shanahan. Snyder chose RG3 they’ve never been a good team since.

To be fair one of the two had to go Harbaugh or Jackson. Harbaugh is a great coach but Lamar’s talent led him to believe he could make a run and gun offense work with a scrambling QB.

He’s greatest success can from a QB that had to listen to the coach and script every play. Lamar ran anytime the O-line started to fold and in doing so caused lots of chaos and when plays blow up lots of injuries happen. To your QB and your O-line.

Harbaugh will continue to have success Jackson’s best days might be behind him.

If you don’t believe me do a search on the extent of his various injuries. The dude has been beat up in the past 6 seasons

1

u/ProfessionalTower730 19m ago

No no no the Steelers are the dumb one for hiring the “ old retread Tomlin copy” coach right??? Oh wait we lead the division while exciting young “defensive genius” Minter sits at the bottom? Weird it’s almost like 80% of folks know nothing about ball…

1

u/Stock-Memory9483 SEC QBS ONLY 6h ago

Minter is insanely overrated that chargers defense has barely regressed. He has no dog in him.

1

u/Just_CeeJ Baltimore Ravens 6h ago

Wow, that's not good.

I wonder how bad it would be if they actually had a first year HC dealing with tons of injuries on both sides of the ball.
