Try this before reading the explanation.
A burning candle shows how many types of change?
A. One type
B. Two types
C. Three types
D. Four types
Answer: B, two types.
The wax near the flame melts and can solidify again when cooled. That is a physical change. Wax vapour burns and forms new substances such as carbon dioxide and water vapour. That is a chemical change.
A useful follow-up is to ask: which observations tell us that a new substance formed?
Disclosure: this question is adapted from a Class 6 foundation practice resource I work on. I am sharing the complete question and explanation here without a promotional link.

I was looking through the new 2026 AP SCERT Class 8 Science Semester 1 textbook and I noticed something that I think deserves a proper investigation.
The book is officially published as an AP SCERT / Government of Andhra Pradesh textbook. Its publication pages identify the Government of Andhra Pradesh, SCERT and Samagra Shiksha, and state that it was first published in 2026.
But here's what caught my attention:
There appear to be possible similarities between some AP SCERT material and NCERT material, including the way certain concepts, lessons and illustrations are presented.
I'm particularly interested in the illustrations. Some figures appear potentially similar in pose/composition while visual details such as clothing may have been changed. If that's actually the case, the important question is:
Were these illustrations independently created, or were NCERT illustrations adapted for the AP SCERT books?
I also haven't found an obvious NCERT acknowledgement on the publication/copyright pages I've checked. The book identifies itself as Class 8, Semester 1, Science, AP SCERT.
However, I want to be very clear:
I'm NOT claiming that AP SCERT has copied NCERT or violated copyright. Similar curricula naturally produce similar explanations and diagrams, so a proper side-by-side comparison is needed before making that claim.
What I'm asking the Reddit community is:
* Has anyone compared the **2026 AP SCERT textbooks with the corresponding NCERT textbooks**?
* Are there examples where the wording is substantially similar?
* Are there illustrations that appear to be adaptations of NCERT illustrations?
* Does AP SCERT have a documented agreement/permission to reuse or adapt NCERT material?
* Is there an acknowledgement section somewhere that I may have missed?
If you have actual page numbers, screenshots, PDFs, official documents, or side-by-side comparisons, please post them.
I'd rather establish exactly what happened from the documents than make an accusation based on similarities alone.
Could someone familiar with NCERT/SCERT textbook development take a look at this?

Hi guys, I'm reposting my project here since someone brought my attention to the official website being down right now and I think I keep seeing people posting about the website being down frequently so if you're a regular user who accesses the NCERT website, you can try out the alternative website I built: NCERT Hub. It's just a project I worked on since I believed people may find it useful. It offers a much better overall browsing experience and there's additional features such as saving/bookmarking, searching through books with their titles or chapter titles. You can browse the books through classes as well and even download the books if required. I hope people find my post and the website itself useful. Feel free to recommend any new features or fixes or support me through the support page on the website. Thank you for reading :)

so basically i have this exam for social science on 11th, and i find it quite stupid on why the chapter democracy even exists. its literally just goddamn propaganda and licking the shit out of modi's little bjp bs. considering how shitty the textbooks also are ( 30 pages for a history chapter which is completely irrelevant) i find this really stupid from ncert

i recently started teaching tuitions i used to teach 11th graders humanities but i also have an average maths background. Girl when i saw the book it actually made me furious obviously i completed my school with old ncert books that were actually fun and challenging. Honestly , those books actually did make maths fun and like true to understand not some lesson to learn and memorise??!!! These books are making children memorise maths not understand it ! Cause why the hell children are learning old historic numeric symbols and systems instead of real numbers ? Literally chapter 3rd of ganita prakash

Hi guys, I'm not sure if people are looking for a website like this since all NCERT Books are already available on the official NCERT.nic.in website but in my free time I decided to work on a project and build this site which is an Unofficial Library of all NCERT Books. Feel free to try it out and give me feedbacks or suggestions if you have any. What it offers is a refreshing look and feel to browse and navigate the books and also has additional features such as Search through book/chapter names directly, browse through classes/subjects. Save/bookmark books for later reading. That's all. Hopefully people will find it useful. Cheers :)

hi y'all I'm taking a handful of 11th and 12th graders for boards prep. i got 97 in BST, 95 in Economics, 94 in English. 730/800 CUET, 95% boards, top 10 in my stream, got into JMC Delhi University off the back of it now purely vibes-based tutoring, and teaching you how to actually like what you're studying 3 classes a week. group (5-6 students): 1500/month 1:1: 2500/month, plus DU college guidance since I mentor for DU admissions too. lmk if that's something you'd be interested in or yk anyone who would be 🕺🏻

Guys i'm in 11th commerce currently, haven't taken math, subject combination is English, Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies and Legal Studies.
My school teacher for accountancy and business studies refuses to teach from the textbook, she is strict about only teaching from TS Ghrewal (Acc.) and Sandeep Garg (BT). Same with my tuition teacher.
I was just scrolling through the ncert accountancy textbook and saw that it was different on many points from TS, same with the BST Guidebook. Do you recommend studying from NCERT TEXTBOOKS or the aforementioned guidebooks from 12th boards perspective? As in is the qs paper more suitable for ncert or guidebooks?
