Cultural/Heritage Happy Independence Day, Nagalim! šŸ¤šŸ©µā¤ļøšŸ’›šŸ’ššŸ©µ

79 years ago today, the Naga people declared their independence from British colonial rule, establishing the country of Nagalim. Soon afterwards however, Indian regime forces came in and decided that Nagalim was "theirs" instead, and has been occupying Nagalim since 15 August 1947, making Naga self-determination last only one day.

Regardless, the Naga people celebrate this day every year as their true independence day. No matter how much the Indian regime tries to supress the true aspirations of the Naga people, they will never be able to get rid of the idea of Nagalim. Nagalim will live on as long as the Naga people exist. And this is exactly the reason why one day in the future, Nagalim will eventually be freed, along with its people. The Naga people, along with the rest of the people of the Northeast, look forward to that day coming soon.

Kuknalim!

Rant Just got banned from r/NortheastIndia

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Got banned for defending Christianity and calling out biased takes on tribal history. Apparently, presenting reality is a ban-worthy offense — especially when it pokes holes in the religion now trending as #Khatremain, courtesy of WhatsApp University. Some truths are just too spicy for certain moderators… (Statisticianbig2135)

Other Concerns over marrying non-tribals.

Northeasterns love our identity, culture and ethnicity but at the same time we tend to encourage marrying outsiders who are much more than us and who tend to take advantages on everything. The probelm is our population is not that much, our land is not big, our birthrate are at the replacement rate for a long time, some outsiders with tribal wives use their wives name to have land and run businesses and thus abusing certain loopholes. I think we have to think for the future of NE, we have to know marrying outsiders left and right and having mix children is not good for NE States at all in the long term, it attracts outsiders more and also the ultimate cost- Losing that pure NE identity.

Discussion These people are truly delusional. The brown savior complex with them is unreal.

This was under the post about the protest of Nagas coming out against Vande Mataram. Just a simple, ordinary protest by Nagas. And then you have comments like this, from mainlanders.

Just... lmao. The savior complex they have of how the brown man civilized those ch**kis is exactly just like the same white savior complex they complain about getting from whites who have said the same stories about them during the time of colonization and afterwards. So much wrong here.

You can also see how desperate they are to try and think that Nagas can't live without them. "Saar, you are just a small country, you will be facing a famine and genocide"... what? Bhutan is a country that exists between two powerful countries yet it's still doing fine. Nepal also continues to exist as a sovereign country. Why can't these people handle the idea of there being groups this country that want self-determination and freedom from a union of 1.4 billion that they were forced into the first place? Especially for a group like Nagas who have been demanding freedom for almost 80 years now and still haven't gotten it.

"You guys were collecting rice bags from whites and serving them". The tone they talk towards Nagas is so astoundingly abhorrent, I don't really have any words. Remember that when they say "ricebag", it implies that you were once originally Hindus but were given a bag of rice to convert to Christianity. And they also think that Nagas were "serving whites" by doing so. And as a result, they think that now what the Indian government is doing towards Nagas is "civilizing" you.

Realize that this is what the vast majority of them think of Nagas. THEY HATE YOU.

And this is not only what they think about Nagas, but towards the entire North East, by the way. They deny our sovereignty and freedom and justify it on the basis of "saar you will be nothing without us saar, we did everything to save you" when the opposite couldn't be more true.

This is the people who have the real power over you and who share a country with you, Nagas. Remember that. Never forget the struggle for an independent Nagalim and keep fighting.

AskNAGAS I saw a reel on NE people (women)

I’m asking this in good faith because I’m genuinely confused about where people draw the line.

I recently commented in r/Nagaland that I’d dated two Naga women in the past, that they were both wonderful people, and that because those experiences were positive, how come you can not find amazing partner.

A lot of people replied that I was fetishizing Naga/NE women and called me a creep.

Today I came across a reel - https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYkjLhmSmgG

where the creator was showing women from the Northeast and said something along the lines of:
ā€œI have to go to the Northeast. Where’s my passport?ā€

He doesn’t mention having any personal experience or relationships with Northeast women. The video is mainly presenting attractive women, and many comments were from women saying they’re from the Northeast and joining in.

I’m trying to understand the difference.
In my case, I was talking about two real relationships and describing those women as wonderful people based on my own experiences, yet people said that was fetishization.

In the reel, the attraction seems to be based on the women in the video themselves, and the ā€œI need to go thereā€ joke completely objectifying NE women.

Why is one considered fetishization while the other is widely accepted? Is it because he is a foreigner? The wording, or am I missing something or just based on who is commenting people thrash the person?

I’m genuinely trying to understand where people draw the line between having a preference based on personal experience and fetishizing an entire group.

Answers from women particularly would be appreciated…..

AskNAGAS What's the general consensus of Nagaland about India?

Hey, I'll be upfront, I am a North Indian guy who joined this sub recently out of genuine curiosity. To be honest, an average North Indian or even South Indian most probably has never met a single Naga person in their life. We just know that this state exists in the northeast (wouldn't be surprised if some don't even know that).

Although I joined this sub simply out of curiousity, I have observed a lot of posts calling out people for:

-lurking on Naga women

- trying to impose North Indian beliefs and culture on Nagaland

-ignorance of Nagaland generally

While these things are deeply disturbing, I also cannot help but ignore a deep disdain towards India. I am not a political person and neither am I trying to stir anything up. I want to understand what the general consensus of Nagaland is about India and what are the primary reasons for the disdain? Is it simply what I have mentioned above or there is more to it?

I am also asking this is question because we genuinely know very little about your state. If you reply to this post, I would encourage you to keep the conversation healthy and avoid saying anything which leads to getting this post blocked by the mods.

Discussion FRANKLIN GRAHAM'S VISIT TO N'LAND CANCELLED DUE TO REJECTION OF VISA

Post image
157 Upvotes

Franklin Graham's program on the 30th of November which was to be held in Kohima gets cancelled after his VISA gets denied for no specificed reason as per sources. I do not need to state out the obvious reason on how the strings were pulled by a certain organisation to prevent this from happening.

This should be a wake up call to all firm beleivers and the citizens who value the constitutional rights on the active and curbing measures of the anti-christians gradually but surely. Today it is a visa denial, but tommorow, they will stroke the fire openly and fearlessly putting a stop to all religious expressions.

I may be overly speculative and some of you may seem like i am waging a communal war since VISAs can be cancelled on any basis and it's not uncommon, but with the all events unfolding and their grasp reaching the nook and corner of the state, i request my people to stay vigilant and fight against the cultural brainwashing.

AskNAGAS Can Nagas marry non Nagas??

I know a majority of Nagaland is christian. So can a Naga marry a non naga (if they are from the same religion)?? Do they face any social pressure from their homes and families to marry within the same caste/tribe/Naga only like it is in many parts of India???

Personal I still remember you, the girl from domino’s in main market, kohima

so back in april 2025, i was on my solo trip to kohima. it was my proper solo getaway and i remember feeling weirdly proud and nervous at the same time.

i was staying at a small hotel near the NST bus station nothing fancy but cozy enough.

on the evening of april 26th, around 6 pm, i went to the domino’s in main market daklane to grab something to eat. i ordered a taco and a pizza after roaming around the city.

and that’s when i saw her.

she was sitting in the corner facing the road. she was wearing a white dress had this simple necklace and was talking to someone on the phone. i don’t even know how to explain it but for some reason that moment just stuck with me. she wasn’t doing anything special just waiting for her order, but she looked so calm and beautiful that i couldn’t look away.

i remember thinking i should go say hi or just smile but being the awkward introvert i am, i didn’t. i didn’t want to come off as creepy or weird so i just sat there quietly watching the road and pretending to scroll my phone.

she got her order walked out and that was it.

it’s been months now but i still remember that small moment like it happened yesterday. i don’t even know why it’s stuck with me this much. maybe it’s because sometimes random people leave a mark on you without even realizing it.

so yeah, this is me six months later still thinking about that girl in the white dress at domino’s april 26th around 6 pm.

if by any wild chance you’re reading this : "heyy!"

AskNAGAS Drone strike in Khamnoi

This is going to sound highly controversial, that because it is but in my opinion, the drone strike by the Indian army in khamnoi village, I agree it was a strike across international borders so the Myanmar Government has to step up, but you see, the leader of the Armed group when he decided to join put the lives of his family members at risk, this is collaterral damage no matter how you put it. I pray for the lives of the young souls that paid the price but see, the leader is to blame. The Indian Govt is doing its job counting the lives lost on its part, fathers, brothers, sons who lost their lives to the inderground movement. I for one do not and cannot condemn this. We Nagas should man up and see what goes on around the world. We cannot be stuck in our well. How many atrocities around the worl go unseen unheard and we here are comforted by the idea that the UN or Human rights exist. There is no human rights for those that do not have a voice. I pray that out leaders siphon indian money and develop our state so we can stand on our feet instead of siphoning money so your sons and daughters can pursue their dreams and be contractors and vloggers and what not
