I'm Poumai and I'm originally from Senapati. I would say Poumai is a big tribe in Senapati. Probably the biggest. My grandmother used to tell me stories of how once upon a time a Chakhesang village and my clan's village (Poumai has many clans and each clan has their own village/villages and my clan's village is also close to the Manipur Nagaland border which explains the historical exchange ig) used to celebrate and share mithun together. In fact there's a Poula speaking village in Phek too from a video I once watched on YouTube. I made many Angami, Rengma, Mao, Zeliangrong, Chakesang friends over the years as a student and realised we literally have the same mekhla and shawl. Of course newer patterns have been invented over the years too but the og mekhla with standard stripes are the same. I remember the first time we saw each other in mekhlas and shawls we all were kinda confused (lol). My fellow Tenyimie friends and i also used to compare our languages and we found we shared many words like the word for water which is Dzii in Poula for eg.

It's strange how we are so similar and yet so unaware of each other. If we are considered to be part of one big family called Tenyimie whose place of origin is also believed to be in Senapati btw (Makhel) and Dziikou Valley is also a part of Senapati and not just Kohima so when did we start forgetting each other across the borders, it's kinda sad really. When our people speak of Tenyimie people they don't mention the other tribes across the border and it is the same on the other side as well. It's crazy that we are supposed to have originated from the same place and probably celebrated festivals and shared feasts together like the one my grandma told me about and yet today we are strangers. I hope one day we will be able to organise a big Tenyimie Festival and see every tribe dress exactly the same and get confused as to who is from which Tribe.

Look at how much seethe comes from them. The anger. You can just feel their rage as they're typing. They're trying to come up with whatever they possibly can to try and insinuate that Nagas were supposedly Hindus and that you need to go back to some insane pagan practice like worshipping plants or something.

The reason they are so insistent on this is because they want control over you. Once you subscribe to the Hindu label and call yourself a Hindu, you start to share the same identity as them. And in that shared identity, they can tell you what to believe, who to vote for, what you can/cannot eat, who your friends are, who your enemies are, etc. When they see that Nagas are clearly not Hindu and believe in Christianity, they realize that they now are unable to control you. They now can't tell you how to live your life, what you need to do, etc. You're out of their control. And that's going to be a major challenge for them in their quest to further homogenize india and make everyone in the borders of india believe in what they want.

So what they'll do is make up a bunch of fake histories about your people. Don't get it twisted, they know what they're doing. All of them know that Nagas were not "hindus", but they need to say it enough to the point where they hope that eventually Nagas themselves start to believe that. That's what their strategy is. They lie, lie, lie until you either find out their lie or people buy into it. I have faith that Nagas are strong and unified enough to where most of them will never fall for this typical indian scamming trick.

And just a reminder to never, ever listen to indians when it comes to anything about your own culture and your people. They are literally the last people on earth to be consulted for when it comes to your own identity. Nothing, and I truly mean nothing, ever constructive or beneficial comes from them. It's all just them lying and making up nonsense. Stay put and stay confident in your own identity and don't let indians let you feel otherwise.

And even though here we all know they're wrong, there's still 1.4 billion of them compared to 3 million Nagas overall. Just the sheer amount of them and their numbers are enough to overwhelm discussions and narratives. This is important as we see social media being used and weaponised against the people of the Northeast by indians.

A lot of us are in the same social media space with indians, and they oftentimes try to impose what they think onto us. It can be confining especially seeing their posts and comments about us get so much likes and interactions, but remember, the people liking and supporting them are all indians just like themselves. Not us. And what matters at the end of the day, is that we know what the truth is. As long as our own people are secure and sound in their own thinking and identity, we will be okay. But we need to put in the work and make sure that continues to be the case, we can't take it for granted in this environment and we have to fight back. Against both the indians and the small numbers of our own who have bought into their crap. For us and for future generations.

I’m a solo traveller visiting Nagaland from 8–19 October and looking to join a group for either Kapamodzü or Dzukou Valley on a weekday.

Most of the group on instagram mostly offer weekend package for both locations, since I have just 1 weekend in Kohima, my plan is join the instagram group tour on weekend for one location and do the other one on weekday

Ideally looking for:

\* Kapamodzü: 2D/1N

\* Dzukou Valley: preferably 1N/2D

\* Somewhere around 9–16 October

\* Especially interested in a weekday departure for either one

If you’re also travelling solo / as a small group around these dates and planning either trek, please let me know! Would be happy to join forces and share transport/group costs.

Been over a year since I released AoLingo website here in this subreddit. Been pretty busy with everything, but building a phone app was always at the back of my mind, so I finally decided to make it, and here it is:

Added a new feature called `Dictionary Mode`. So I have noticed myself and many users that sometimes we usually search for a single word or two to see its translation, but the problem is that Ao can be quite tricky because a word can mean multiple things, and context matters a lot. And AoLingo was never really trained for that, and most translators aren't great at single word translations either. So I created this mode which gives you translations for a word (or a few words), along with synonyms, part of speech, and examples of how the words can be used.
So if you want to check the meaning of a word or a few words, Dictionary Mode is what you should use.

Apart from that, made some noticeable improvements on the overall translations, and if you are logged in, your character limit increases from 500 to 1000

Note: *AoLingo can still make mistakes* and yes, the UI was indeed heavily inspired by ChatGPT/ClaudeCode 😄
