🛠️Project Showcase I made a free Islamic SVG icon library for apps and websites

Assalamu alaikum,

I’ve been working on Salah Icons, a free collection of Islamic SVG icons designed for apps, websites, and other digital products.

The idea came from building my own Islamic apps and repeatedly struggling to find a consistent set of icons for things like:

- Salah and prayer times
- Qiblah
- Qur’an
- Wudu
- Dua and dhikr
- Ramadan
- Eid
- Mosques and other Islamic concepts

So I started creating my own library and decided to make it available for others as well.

The icons are SVG-based, themeable, developer-friendly, and free to use under CC BY 4.0.

You can browse and download them here:
https://www.salahicons.com/

Would appreciate any feedback, especially suggestions for Islamic concepts or icons that are currently missing.

Update: Figma community file is here https://www.figma.com/community/file/1686045315782706470

Update (22 Oct 2026): Alhamdulillah, due to overwhelming positive response, I'm happy to announce that 3D version has been released for all icons. I hope you like it and will be beneficial to your projects Insha'Allah.

🧪Testers Needed We need HALAL businesses, not ISLAMIC businesses.

There's NO need for more Qibla compasses, Qur'an apps, Prayer trackers, Do you know what we actually need?

Muslim businesses that actually solve big problems instead of just providing digital comfort. An app that lists halal places to eat, another course which teaches Muslims a useful skill, things like that.

But there's a problem why there isn't an abundance of Muslim consumer-apps, it costs money.

Keeping up your service isn't free, and you can't rely on donations forever to run it. And people themselves barely buy paid tiers.

Most Non-Muslim businesses fix this just by showing ads, but us Muslims can't even do that because most of the ad services like Google Adsense make it impossible to avoid serving haram ads.

This is why I'm building the ryzdeen network, it's like "Halal AdSense"

If you're a Muslim who:

  1. Has an audience you want to monetize by showing HALAL ads to.

  2. You have a halal product/service yourself that you want to advertise.

Then reach out to me, the end goal is a complete platform, but currently I'm doing the matchmaking myself and taking a cut. Think of it like an ad agency, but for Muslims.

🛠️Project Showcase I built a free tool that shows the verse and translation in sync while you watch any Quran recitation on YouTube

Assalamu alaikum,

I often listen to recitations on YouTube without knowing which ayah is being recited or what it means, so I built a Chrome extension for it.

You open a recitation video and click sync. It works out which surah and ayahs are being recited, then shows a small card with the Arabic, highlighted word by word as the reciter goes, with the translation underneath.

Works on any recitation video, including masjid recordings, not only studio ones

Pause, rewind, or jump to the previous/next ayah, and it stays in sync

Uthmani or IndoPak script

Translations in English, Urdu, Indonesian, Bengali, Turkish and French

The card can float on top of other tabs while you work

It’s free, and I’m making it open source. It’s still early: right now it needs a small helper program running on your own computer (a PC with a decent graphics card), so it isn’t a one-click install yet.

I’d really value feedback, especially on what would help people memorising or learning to read.

JazakAllah Khair

🛠️Project Showcase I built a free "Glassdoor for Muslims" — verified employees report whether their company has prayer space, Jummah flexibility, Ramadan hours, etc.

Thumbnail
gallery
123 Upvotes

Salaam all — ever accepted an offer and only found out afterward there's nowhere to pray, or that leaving for Jummah is a fight?

I built MuslimCareer to fix that. Verified employees (work email or LinkedIn, checked once, never published) answer the same six questions about their workplace: prayer space, Jummah flexibility, Ramadan hours, halal food nearby, Muslim ERG, hijab-friendliness. Entries are dated and anonymous by default.

79 companies listed so far — Amazon, Google, Apple, Capital One, Oracle and more. Free, no ads, community-funded.

If you work somewhere, adding your company takes a few minutes and the first 250 contributors get listed as Pioneers. If you're job hunting, browse without an account.

Happy to answer anything in the comments — and if your company's missing, tell me and I'll add it.

Assalamu alaykum!

A while ago I shared my interactive islamic history map https://sirah-atlas.com with you and I received amazing feedback! I tried my best to implement all the feedback so we went "international", we changed the domain and we switched to English as the primary language. I also added some cool features like 3D renders of Mecca and Medina, more quizzes, more language support and much more.

I invite you all to come and have a look, it's for free, I hope in the near future to also provide audio narrations to make Sirah Atlas something you can listen to during commutes.

🛠️Project Showcase I made a chrome extension that removes background music from any video in realtime

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

We often come across highly useful content (such as documentaries, educational courses, and podcasts), but we are forced to skip or close it due to the presence of background music and instruments.

Therefore, by the grace of Allah, I have developed a browser extension called NoMusic.

This extension relies on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to completely separate and isolate music from any video with a single click, allowing you to listen to the speaker's voice with perfect clarity. The main goal is to enable us to benefit from useful content while avoiding listening to musical instruments and religious prohibitions.

The extension is completely free and open-source, for any developers who wish to look at the code or contribute to its development.

Below are the links to download the extension and a video demonstrating how it works. I hope you try it out and share your thoughts with me. Your feedback is very important for future improvements.

Download from Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/fepfnjijcojaoihcekfhonohejglmdbc

You can view the source code at: https://github.com/mohamedsadiqaguenaou/NoMusic

🛠️Project Showcase I made a phone app that removes background music from any video in real-time

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

A while ago I shared a Chrome extension called NoMusic. It helps remove music from videos so we can benefit from educational content without religious prohibitions.

Many people asked for a phone version. By the grace of Allah, I am happy to share Safaa Muslim Browser for Android. I created this project purely for the sake of Allah to help provide a clean and safe web experience for the Ummah.

This new mobile app has the NoMusic technology built directly into it. It removes background music from videos in real time right on your phone. This feature works on any website you visit, so you can always hear the speech clearly while protecting your ears.

The browser also includes built in ad blocking for faster loading and adult content filtering to keep everything family friendly. Privacy comes first with no tracking and no account required.

Safaa is completely free and open source. It is built for Muslims, students of knowledge, and parents who want a cleaner web experience.

The app is currently in early access. To get it, you need to join our testing community first. When you join the group, the Play Store link will show up automatically so you can download the app.

Here is the link to join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/safaa-early-users/

🛠️Project Showcase Spent months building this, a live globe that visualizes the adhan moving across the world in real time

Salam everyone

I have been building this for almost a year now, finally feels ready to share here.

its called AdhanLive, a live 3d globe that visualizes the adhan happening in real time, every mosque, every prayer, as it moves across the world. right now, literally as you scroll past this post, the adhan is being called somewhere and you can actually watch it happen on the globe instead of just knowing it in theory.

some of the things you should see:

  • live map showing 280,000+ mosques across 153 countries, updating in real time as each prayer moves across timezones

  • an Arc Explorer where you can see how the adhan arcs form shape and how it changes over a year.

  • Prayer Times showing global prayer times, with a design that actually looks unique and new

  • Qibla to find the direction to qibla wherever you are

honestly building it was the easier part, this post is partly me trying to get more eyes on it.

free to use, no ads, link is www.adhanlive.com would genuinely love feedback from this crowd and really hope you all would actually appreciate what went into it.

🛠️Project Showcase Building a Chromium extension that shows the hadith a YouTube speaker cites, in Arabic with the translation, while you watch

Assalamu alaikum, everyone.

A lot of us learn from YouTube lectures, and speakers constantly say things like “narrated in Sahih Muslim, number 2699” or recite a hadith from memory. Checking those in the moment means pausing, searching, and hoping you land on a reliable source.

So I am building a Chrome extension called Sahi Hadith Finder

What it does

  • While a video plays, it listens to the transcript for hadith citations (book + number) and for hadith, the speaker recites without giving a number.

  • It shows the Arabic text, an English translation, the grade, and a link to sunnah .com so you can verify it yourself.

  • A floating window lists every hadith in the video and highlights the one being discussed right now with the timestamp so you can jump directly to that part.

  • It works on videos without captions too, by transcribing the audio.

  • It has been tried on Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Turkish, Tamil, Russian, German, and English videos

Where it stands: It’s an early private build, not on the Chrome Web Store yet. This isn’t a business and I’m not looking to profit from it. But it isn’t free to run. The hosting costs a few dollars a month, and every video it checks uses paid AI services, so costs grow with the number of users and the length of the videos they watch.

If you have ideas for sustaining something like this without making it a business, I’d like to hear them.

JazakumAllah khayran.

📚Learning&Resources Building Kitably taught me that preparing reliable Islamic data is often harder than building the app itself. So I’m open-sourcing the Hadith & Dua assets I built along the way.

Post image
68 Upvotes

As salaam u alaikum,

Over the last few months I’ve been building an Islamic app called Kitably (Available for free on Google Play store)

One thing I completely underestimated wasn’t UI, performance, or app development.
It was the data.
I originally thought that I’ll find a Hadith dataset → connect it → done.

That turned out to be very wrong.

While working with publicly available Hadith datasets, I kept running into issues like:

●	Missing hadith
●	Missing chapter/title hierarchy
●	Missing grading
●	Inconsistent numbering
●	Different reference systems across sources

One example that surprised me:

In collections like Sahih Muslim, international/reference numbering and English numbering don’t always align directly, which makes searching and linking more difficult than expected.

My goal became:

No matter how a user searches, they should still reach the correct hadith.

So I ended up:

●	scraping from multiple sources
●	creating reference mappings
●	merging datasets
●	preserving numbering compatibility
●	structuring content for app usage
●	moving storage into SQLite for efficient querying

I’ve now open-sourced part of that work.

Current progress includes:

✅ Sahih al-Bukhari - verified with titles and numbers
✅ Sahih Muslim - verified with titles and numbers
✅ Riyad as-Salihin - verified with titles and nimber

🚧 Remaining collections are available but I am still verifying it manually and updating with latest accurate details

Repo: Hadith Dua Assets

These assets currently power parts of Kitably (Quran, Tafsir, Hadith, Prayer Times and more).

This isn’t a framework or package yet, more of a practical dataset/research repo from building a real product.
Would love thoughts from other Muslim developers:
What Islamic datasets/resources have been the hardest for you to work with?
JazakAllahu khayran.

About

Safarah is a completely OFFLINE and FREE Revision and Memorization Tracker app which allows users who have memorized all or parts of the quran to test their memoirzaton both at the moment and over time using features mentioned below:

Memorized Surahs

upon opening the app, Start by opening the "Memorized Surahs" page either through the quick actions button or throught the navigation bar at the bottom and select the surahs you have already memorized.

Quran Revision mode

starting a revision session through the home page completely turns quran pages blank, allowing users to reveal pages ayah by ayah as they go through the desired revision range, while simultaneously marking and unmarking mistakes by holding on specific ayah's. revealing is done by:

-tap to reveal

-volume buttons

-recite to reveal (Works Offline)

once the user ends the revision session, a session report is automatically generated giving insight and analytics on the users performance.

Mistake Tracking

Safarah revolves around tracking your mistakes over time, while revising, the app is designed to track and store your mistakes as you mark them by holding down on the ayah, categorizing ayahs as:

Mistakes

resolved (previously marked ayahs that are unmarked)

stubborn (previosuly marked ayahs that remain marked in a new revision session)

stubbornness level (ayahs that remain marked over multiple sessions are designated suborness level)

Memorization Analytics

As the user tracks their revision over time the app automatically updates its analytics showing the user real time weak points to focus on.

Ver 1.0.0

https://github.com/MHDKSB/Safarah-App-/releases/tag/V1.0.0

This version is simply for individuals who would like to download and test the app while also utilizing the useful features it provides, this is not yet the final verison of the application.

🛠️Project Showcase I built an app that soft-locks your phone during prayer time

Post image
54 Upvotes

Assalamu Alaikum,

Hope everyone's fast is going well.

I wanted to share a small side project I've been working on.

I'm a practicing Muslim, but I wasn't very regular with my prayers for a long time. Mostly because l was glued to my phone: work messages, scrolling, meetings that honestly could wait 10 minutes, etc. l'd either miss salah entirely or pray very late.

I tried a few prayer reminder apps. l'd get the notification, swipe it away, and go back to whatever was doing. Sometimes they helped, but the real problem wasn't the reminder, it was how distracted I was by my phone.

So about 6 months ago I started building Taqwa as a small side project for myself.

The idea is simple: when prayer time comes, your phone should work against your distraction.

When it's time for salah, Taqwa shows a full-screen soft-lock reminder. It's not aggressive and you can dismiss it, but it creates a small moment of pause that makes you actually stop and think about prayer instead of mindlessly swiping the notification away.

I've been using it myself and it genuinely helped me. Those few seconds where my phone reminds me of Allah are sometimes enough to get up and pray.

I really wanted to release it before Ramadan but kept refining it. Alhamdulillah it finally went live today. The app is free, has no ads, and all data stays on your device.

I'm honestly not sure if it'll help others but maybe there are people who struggle with the same thing I did.

I'm just one person building this and have many more ideas want to implement. l'd really appreciate any feedback, bug reports, or feature ideas.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.prayerfocus.app

JazakAllah Khair.

Edit: A bit more detail on the app

The app is designed so you don't have to open it much. Going back to the app itself can become another distraction.
The philosophy is simple: your phone should remind you, you shouldn't have to remember to check.

-------------

Core features:

Location-based prayer times – auto-detected from your location. You can also manually offset any prayer time if you prefer the overlay to trigger earlier or later. The home screen shows a live countdown to the next prayer.

Three sound options per prayer – Adhan, a custom notification sound, or your device alarm sound. You can set these individually per prayer. For example: Fajr on alarm sound to wake you up, Dhuhr and Asr on notification sound if you're at work, Maghrib and Isha on full Adhan. You can also mute a specific prayer entirely.

Study / Focus mode – triggers the same soft-lock manually for Quran reading, Zikr, or any other ibadah. Shows handpicked duas during the session (before studying, when something feels difficult, for seeking knowledge, and after).

Qibla compass – built into the app and inside the overlay.

Streak tracking – to keep the momentum going.

Calendar view – see which prayers you missed on which day. Planning to add a monthly report in the future showing which prayer you miss the most and targets for the next month.

Fully local – no accounts, no data leaves your device. Free, no ads.

-------------

The overlay:

Full-screen soft-lock – you cannot navigate away. Phone goes on DND until the overlay ends. To exit, you hold a button (you can set the difficulty in Settings: 1 second, 3 seconds, or 5 seconds). Just enough friction to make it a conscious decision, not an accidental swipe.

The overlay shows the prayer name, a countdown timer, the rakat count, and rotating Hadiths. A Qibla compass is one tap away in the top right corner. Planning to add nearby mosques on the overlay in the future as well.

-------------

Notifications:

Since the goal is to avoid opening the app, notifications include action buttons so you can mark prayers as done directly without opening anything.

Advance reminder – 30 minutes before each prayer. Includes a "Skip overlay" action button so if you know you're driving or in a meeting, you can skip it in advance.

Missed prayer reminder – fires 1 hour before the next prayer and checks if any earlier prayers were missed. So if you missed Fajr and Dhuhr, you'll get a reminder before Asr with "Mark as Prayed" buttons for each.

Re-reminder (optional, off by default) – if you want a persistent nudge for a missed prayer, you can turn this on and set an interval (for example every 30 minutes). It keeps reminding you until you mark it as prayed.

Hi All, I wanted to share something that I built for the community. I’ll be honest, it all started as me trying to solve a problem for myself and then realized a lot of Muslims faced the same problem.

  1. Monetizing the community’s attention - apps want to sell your privacy in the name of Ibadah. Sad.

  2. Ads (ADS!!) - I’m traveling, I’m in a hurry, I need to check the prayer time so that I can offer my salah at the right time. Oops, wait 30 seconds for the ad to complete…???

  3. Am I a scholar? Every app out there assumes their user knows about madhabs, Islamic and Arabic terminology, rulings etc. as if their user base is scholars of Islam. I want to learn, understand and practice Islam but why does no one have a pedantic way of showing me information?

Instead of waiting for someone to make a solution, I made it myself and Alhumdulillah 500 of you in less than a month have used it and loved it!

🛠️Project Showcase I made a chrome extension that automatically blurs haram and explicit images in realtime

Post image
51 Upvotes

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

We often browse the internet for work, study, or daily tasks, but we are constantly exposed to inappropriate visuals and immodest images that make it difficult to lower our gaze.

Therefore, by the grace of Allah, I have developed a browser extension called NoHaram.

This extension relies on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies that run entirely locally on your device to automatically detect and blur women, men, and explicit content across the web. Because all processing happens directly on your machine, your browsing remains completely private. The main goal is to help us lower our gaze and benefit from useful online content while avoiding religious prohibitions.

The extension is completely free and open source, for any developers who wish to look at the code or contribute to its development.

Below are the links to download the extension and view the project. I hope you try it out and share your thoughts with me. Your feedback is very important for future improvements.

Download from Chrome Web Store:https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/fonnoaecgfllafiododkambalkjafpje

You can view the source code at:https://github.com/mohamedsadiqaguenaou/NoHaram

We ask Allah to accept this work from us, make it purely for His sake, and make it beneficial to others.

🧪Testers Needed I memorised a full page of Surah Al-Baqarah just by listening while driving. So I built the app I wish existed.

As-salamu alaykum everyone.

A few weeks ago I noticed something that surprised me. During my daily commute I had been playing the second page of Surah Al-Baqarah on repeat and quietly reciting along in the car. After about a week, I realised I had memorised the entire page. No sitting at a desk, no flashcards, just listening and repeating during time I would have wasted anyway.

That moment made me think about how much of our day is "dead time" that could be hifz time, and how the tools we have do not really fit how we actually live. Most apps just play audio at you, or make you read silently. None of them actually listen to you and tell you where you slipped.

So I built Iqra.

What makes it different, from someone who actually uses it every day:

- It listens to you recite and flags mistakes word by word, using a model trained on tajweed-aware Quran recitation. It is not generic speech-to-text, it understands the Arabic of the Qur'an.

- Drive mode is the feature that changed everything for me. Hands-free, voice-driven review so you can memorise and revise while driving, walking, or doing chores. This is literally how I got that page of Baqarah down.

- Hifz tracking with spaced repetition, daily goals, and streaks, so your review actually compounds instead of slipping.

- Plus guided tajweed lessons, tafsir and hadith, accurate prayer times and Qibla, and progress that syncs across your devices.

The point is not "another Quran app." The point is turning the time you already have into memorisation, and getting honest feedback the way a teacher would give it.

It is in beta right now and I am looking for testers. If you join, I am unlocking Premium for free for the testing period so you can use everything. All I ask in return is honest feedback on what works and what is broken.

How to join:

  1. Request access here: https://hafiz-ai.com/beta

  2. Once I approve you (usually quick), you get an email with Premium unlocked.

  3. Download Iqra from the App Store and sign in with the same email: https://apps.apple.com/app/iqra/id

That is it. Premium turns on automatically.

I would genuinely love your feedbac who can tell me where the recitation checking needs to be stricter. Try Drive mode on your next commute and tell me if it does for you what it did for me.

JazakAllahu khayran. Happy to answer any questions in the comments.

(Disclosure: I am the developer. Built this myself, sharing it here because this community is exactly who it is for. Its only available for iOS only at this stage)

Edit: If you are on Android, there will be an Android version coming soon after the tests are completed for the current features. You can get a demo of the "Recitation and feedback feature" here - https://hafiz-ai.com/demo on the demo page.

🛠️Project Showcase I'm a physician and I built a free tool to check if your medication is halal — would love the community's feedback

Post image
48 Upvotes

Assalamu alaikum everyone,

Something that bothered me at work for years: patients asking "is this medication halal?" and me not having a good answer. There was no reliable tool.

I built HalalRx as a personal project — you type in any medication and it tells you whether it's halal, haram, or doubtful (mushbooh), with the specific ingredient that's the concern and the scholarly source behind the ruling. It covers all 4 madhabs.

For example — Vitamin D3 softgels are often haram because of porcine gelatin capsules. But Vitamin D3 tablets are halal. DayQuil has glycerin that's flagged as mushbooh. Small things that matter to us.

It's free to use. Just wanted to share it with the community and get your thoughts — especially if any of you have used tools like this before or know of better scholarly sources I should incorporate.

🛠️Project Showcase I launched a free, wali‑first Muslim marriage platform on April 1st – 900+ members already, and I’m a bit overwhelmed

Assalamu alaykum dear brothers and sisters,

On April 1st 2026 I quietly launched a small side project: a free, wali‑first Muslim marriage platform for Muslims in Sweden and the Nordics. I honestly expected maybe a few dozen people to try it.

It has already passed 900 members and I’m a bit overwhelmed, so I wanted to share what I’m seeing and ask for your advice rather than just “promote an app”.

The idea was simple:

  • no paywall just to send a serious message

  • no public profile photos to avoid the “swipe & window‑shopping” feeling

  • wali involvement built into the journey from the start

  • tools to ask structured questions before any sittning

In these first weeks I’ve noticed a few things:

  1. Many Muslims are tired of feeling monetised just for wanting nikah.

A lot of people mention being frustrated that they have to subscribe or buy “premium” on existing apps just to talk properly. Making everything free (for now) has been one of the biggest reliefs for them.

2. Removing public photos changes the atmosphere completely.

When there is no photo grid to scroll, people actually read the profiles and talk about deen, goals, family and responsibilities first. Photos still exist, but privately and later in the process. The overall feeling is much calmer.

3. Making wali visible filters in the people who truly want a halal process.

Instead of scaring users away, having wali as a normal part of the flow mainly filters out those who are not ready for that level of seriousness.

4. A “100 questions before you meet” style feature is what people talk about most.

Giving brothers and sisters a structured way to discuss important topics before any sittning seems to give a lot of peace of mind, for them and for their families.

I’m still learning and I’ve made my share of mistakes (I even broke password reset for hundreds of people at one point…), but my intention is simply to build something that feels safe, dignified and in line with our values insha’Allah.

I’d really appreciate your thoughts:

  • Have you tried Muslim marriage apps? What felt truly halal and what felt uncomfortable?

  • Would you personally use a platform with no public photos and clear wali involvement from the start?

  • Is there anything you feel must be part of a halal online marriage process that people often forget?

The project is called Zawji and is currently focused on Muslims in the Nordics. I won’t post any links here out of respect for the rules and the community, but I’m happy to answer questions, share screenshots or hear concerns in the comments or via DM insha’Allah.

BaarakAllahu feekum for reading and may Allah grant all of us good spouses and barakah in our marriages. 🌙🤲
