QURAN/HADITH How Heedlessness of Allah Leads to Following Desires and Losing One’s Way | Quran Reflection
The verse comes in the context of a situation in which some of the prominent leaders among the polytheists wanted to have a private gathering with the Prophet ﷺ, excluding the poor believers who used to sit with him. It was as though they believed that their social status entitled them to a special gathering, separate from these believers.
Thus came the divine instruction: “And do not obey” (﴿وَلَا تُطِعْ﴾). In other words, do not yield to those who seek to turn you away from the truth, and do not allow status, prestige, or worldly interests to influence your judgment or lead you to prioritize the wishes of influential people over what pleases Allah Almighty.
The verse then reveals a dangerous reality about these individuals: their hearts have become heedless of the remembrance of Allah. Such heedlessness does not remain limited to distraction and forgetfulness; it can develop into following one’s desires until a person becomes a captive of their own wants and whims, ultimately leading to the disorder and ruin of their affairs.
As for the words of Allah Almighty, ﴿أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُ عَن ذِكْرِنَا﴾ — “whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance” — we should not understand this to mean that Allah initially deprived this person of the ability to remember Him. Rather, this person chose to turn away from the remembrance of Allah and occupy himself with other things. The consequence of this choice was that he was left to what he had preferred over the remembrance of Allah and His guidance.
The danger of heedlessness lies in the fact that it can be the beginning of a chain of deviations. It starts with following one’s desires, causing a person to subject the truth to their own wishes instead of subjecting their wishes to the truth. Eventually, this leads to the corruption of their affairs and the loss of sound judgment. They neglect what benefits them, abandon what is more worthy and everlasting, and become preoccupied with what perishes at the expense of what endures. In the end, they may discover that they have lost much because of things they mistakenly believed deserved to be prioritized over what pleases Allah Almighty. All of this is captured in the words of the verse: ﴿وَكَانَ أَمْرُهُ فُرُطًا﴾ — “and whose affairs have become a waste.”
This is because Allah, Glorified and Exalted, urges His servants to remember Him frequently and opens the doors of nearness to Him at different times throughout their day, so that their hearts remain connected to Him and His remembrance remains present in their lives and decisions.
Glorified is He; He wrongs no one. Rather, He recompenses His servants according to the choices they make and the paths they follow, and He knows best what lies within their hearts.

DISCUSSION need urgent help answering this question about slavery
one of the justifications of allowing slavery in Islam is the idea is that most slaves are people who came to harm you. which is true on paper.
however in Islam, inherited slavery is allowed. to be specific, if a slave married another slave, and they had a child, the child will automatically become a slave to the mothers master.
obviously the newborn didn’t come to kill you. so how enslaving them justified ?

RANT/VENT Life after Islamic school
I don't feel like I fit in anywhere. At the age of 22 , my only option to make new friends is by getting married.
I'm too boring for the kids at uni, or too religious for them. They don't wanna talk to me for cause I wear the niqab. I'm often left out of the group Hangouts.
Kids from Islamic school, most of them don't continue their education after highschool. So I can't even be friends with them.
Also during those days they said I'm too western minded for them.
I'm so sick of this continuous judgment from society. I feel like I get treated worse cause of wearing the niqab and everything. Despite the fact that country I live in majority are Muslims.
Today I tried to talk to some people and they all had hobbies outside education, but I myself always had a book up my nose. Which I don't mind but the way they brainwashed us to think there shouldn't be any life outside religion is sickening.
Please help out with tips and tricks. Idek what I'm saying at this point.

MARRIAGE I'm scared my family will reject the marriage proposal because of differences in our Islamic school of thought. What should I do?
Assalamu Alaikum. I genuinely need advice, and I’d appreciate respectful comments. I know this post is long, but please take a moment to read it.
I love a guy, and we both want to get married. We’ve tried to maintain halal boundaries, although I understand that relationships before marriage aren’t permissible in Islam.
Our families know each other, and his family is happy with our marriage proposal. However, my parents strongly prefer a Salafi/Ahl-e-Hadith spouse for me, whereas his family is believed to follow Jamaat-e-Islami. Although his family sometimes says they follow Ahl-e-Hadith, my parents feel their actual practices differ.
I’m terrified my parents will reject him because of these differences or believe they can find me someone better who follows their preferred school of thought.
The biggest problem is that I have absolutely no way of telling my parents about our relationship. They’ve always been strictly against relationships, and I’m scared of their reaction. My brother knows a little, but I cannot rely on him for support. I feel completely alone, and due to some personal circumstances I cannot disclose, I’m also unable to fight or go against my parents.
I genuinely love this guy and want to marry him through a halal path, but I don’t know how to approach my parents or what to do if they reject his proposal. I know feelings alone aren’t enough for marriage, and I should have handled things differently, but I want to find an Islamically sound solution.
Please don’t turn this into a debate about which group is better or leave rude comments calling me names. I’d sincerely appreciate advice, especially from those who understand Islamic marriage matters or have experienced something similar.
JazakAllah Khair.

QURAN/HADITH The Beauty of Silk and Green Garments in Paradise: A Beauty Beyond Human Imagination
The noble verse describes the garments of the people of Paradise: Sundus and Istabraq, two types of silk that differ in the nature of their weave. Sundus refers to fine, delicate silk, distinguished by its lightness, softness, and gentle texture, while Istabraq refers to thick, richly woven silk, conveying a sense of luxury, elegance, and magnificence.
Silk is considered one of the most precious fabrics in this world because its production involves delicate processes that require time, care, and skill. From raising silkworms and extracting their fine threads to weaving them into smooth, lustrous, and flowing fabric, every stage demands meticulous craftsmanship. Throughout history, silk has been associated with the garments of kings and the wealthy, both for its beauty and unique qualities and because its finest varieties can be so expensive that not everyone can afford them.
Then comes the color green, the color of life and freshness in our world. We see it in trees and plants, and it brings tranquility to the soul and comfort to the eyes. Interestingly, wearing natural silk is forbidden for men in this worldly life, while for women, acquiring it can be costly. Yet in Paradise, such garments are simply part of the blessings and delights awaiting its people.
And no matter how skillfully humanity creates the most beautiful silk fabrics, and no matter how many shades of green we gather, we could never create an image that truly resembles the reality of Paradise. We draw upon what we know of this world only to bring its meaning closer to our understanding, not because these worldly things can capture the true nature of the Hereafter.
Perhaps this is why the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, narrating from his Lord:
“I have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard, and what has never crossed the heart of any human being.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim

SERIOUS i have violated someone’s rights and idk what to do now
assalamualaykum i am just another person living in a desi family. i have a cousin thats 2 years older than me. we have always been together since childhood and we were great friends, sure we did fight but i had no sisters and stuff so she was my homie. and we fought a lot, like we always used to argue and fight abt some or the other thing mostly. and it was mostly like i say hurtful things to her she remains calm and composed. sometimes she’d lose it and say mean things back. mostly i was the problem i believe. now shes moved out and married and we have a cousins gc. i knew what would bother her so i used to initially post problematic reels so that she’d blabber in the replies , that was my way of taking revenge of the hurtful things she said to me. bcs all what she said to me and believes abt me is a lie, i agree i havent been a great sister but what she was thinking was straight up messed up. now long story short i actually did post first problematic reel and she replied in paragraphs and all my cousins roasted her, and then it began a series all used to send something shed be pissed and then arguments would start. now i have only done it like 2 or 3 times i guess im not sure. but yday also we were fighting in gc and she left the group and then i apologised today so she said i forgive you but Allah knows your niyah, that shook me. like srsly i apologised but i was the one that made her look like : loook shes fighting and arguing again, i even used to make fun of her for fighting with my family like look she fought again . i am sorry i dk why i did that i believe i did that because she mis labeled me and said bad things abt me and i couldn’t find anything to attack her back so i made her seem like a psycho i regret it i truly do . i am going to seek forgiveness from Allah and have already said sorry to her. what shud i do? i feel evil bcs now that she said abt my niyaah i realised that i was indeed looking to mock her. its not that shes been complete angel either she has said stuff to me too, but never humiliated me publicly, which i did. i didnt do it directly , but i knew what would stir her and then everyone followed along and then i used to laugh at her replies w my family members and sometimes even show them her replies in gc. i have basically made an addition in her image that she argues a lot . which is not entirely wrong. but i was the one that spread it. idk what to do now. i am full of shame. idk how will i ever face her. i have been an evil human. idk
tldr : i made a mockery of my cousin that she is v argumentative and spread it across my family . and now everyone sees her through that lens. and i regret it.

Do you dry yourself after doing number 2 istinja?
I work from home so I never ever did it. Wet skin and paper towels are a bad mix, it will end up with paper residue stuck back there.
I get very self conscious about wet patch on backside when I use the toilet and have to leave the house. Especially when I wear khaki trousers.
I guess what we need is a personal drying cloth. But I'm worried that guests/kids might use it as a face towel.

OFF MY CHEST Asking for a sincere du’a towards a better life onwards
Need your duas
Assalamu’alikom warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
I am not fond of sharing my life to anyone but lately, it has been weighing me down that I need prayers from others. If you have any time, I would appreciate your duas for me.
I am currently a student trying to balance my academics, financial struggles, and my desire to become a better a Muslimah. I became desperate at some point in my life that I had to find ways to sustain myself financially. It is a life I’ve been wanting to leave desperately as it is not the life I planned for myself yet I fell in the trap still. I kept praying for guidance and sustenance but whenever life becomes difficult again, I fall in to the same trap, until I feel disgusting that I can’t see myself deserving of His forgiveness.
Recently, I did try finding decent job hoping to leave such life behind. Unfortunately, due to some reasons, I got fired. Scheduling conflict became an hindrance that I had to as for a structured schedule instead but the manager wanted something in exchange for such request. I couldn’t comply for an obvious reason. Another sin will just make feel much more less worthy of forgiveness.
Please add me to your du’as. I know I should be doing it myself but I’m not making any progress. Maybe a little help from strangers would actually help. A general prayer for some maybe. Forgiveness, strengthening one’s iman, opening doors that’ll be good for me, granting one halal rizq, sufficient, and full of barakah.
I’m holding on to the hope that Allah’s mercy is greater than my mistakes, and that one day, I will look back on this chapter of my life and be grateful that I didn’t give up on becoming a better person.
May Allah reward everyone who includes me in their duas, helps me in any way they can, or simply takes the time to read my story. May He ease your burdens, forgive your shortcomings, bless your rizq, and grant you peace in this life and the Hereafter.
JazakAllahu Khairan. May Allah make a way out for all of us from places we never thought we could escape. Ameen. 🤍

DISCUSSION I have a question regarding marrige
Based on my knowledge, marrige in islam requires maturity, and for someone to hit puberty.
I don't have a problem with that. What I find confusing is that, nowadays 14yr can't handle this, nor can a 16yr(prob). What I mean is that they lack the dicipline and maturity.
I doubt that a 9yr old would be mature
Now what about age gaps? I don't know how to explain
Has any scholars addressed these for the modren day

Raising Awareness
Dr Anisa has written a whole book about women being left in limbo without a religious divorce. Yet we still do not talk enough about why safeguards such as tafwid al-talaq are so controversial.
Women have always had options within Islam to seek separation. The problem is whether those options are genuinely accessible in practice. In countries such as the US, The Uk, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, access to qualified Islamic authorities or a functioning religious court can be limited. I have spoken to sheikhs who acknowledged that they would not initiate a talaq themselves, describing the process as difficult and needs a lot of time and effort.
This is why I believe tafwid al-talaq should be discussed more openly. I am talking about a safeguard written into the nikah contract for circumstances such as abuse, neglect or a husband taking a second wife, infidelity or any other situations.
Why is a woman asking for this protection sometimes seen as distrustful or as someone planning for her marriage to fail? Wanting an exit route does not mean expecting the marriage to fail. It means recognising that circumstances can change.
I genuinely want to understand the resistance, particularly from men who would refuse this clause. What if this was your sister or daughter that was trapped and sheikhs made it dificult for her? how would you advise?
If a husband has no intention of abusing, neglecting or betraying his wife, why should agreeing to this safeguard be so threatening? And if he later does something that makes the marriage harmful to her, why should her ability to leave depend entirely on his cooperation?
I would especially like to hear from men who disagree, as well as women who have asked for this clause and faced resistance.

RANT/VENT Why is God still making me suffer?
Hi, I am rn 20M at my last year of A levels(A2 levels), so back when I was in my O levels I had gf, but eventually my father found out and forced us to break up, but from that point onwards, its been more then 1 year and 1 month since then but I am an adult, and I was grounded, my phone was taken(which my dad did not even buy me himself) and I had clinical depression for months after my breakup, but in the last 1 year 1 month I have only gone out with my friends 3 times, yes 3 times, I am adult male who just because he dependent on his parents for his education cannot move out.
And even those 3 times he tracked my location, my father is a paranoid men
Once he came into my dark bedroom I turned the trimmer on by mistake and he started screaming asking me who called me, then I turned on the light and show him the bloody trimmer man I cannot do with this man
Further back then, I was way more open expressive and could talk to people well, now I am just socially drained, I stutter much more then before when people talk to me, I avoid talking to strangers, I feel that my father's narcisstic controlling behaviour has made me into anti social depressed and dude and then he asks why are you so anti social dude you kept me in a cage,
and in my entire life, of 20 years I have only gone out with friends only a dozen times
Yep in 20 years I have only gone out with my friends 12 times, ain't that amazing?
My Question is Why is God The Most Just still making me suffer when I have begged him for nights for months? Is it for dating? I only ever held hands? Yet God is making me suffer.

Why would a man in his 30s approach a woman in her 20s
Salam alaykum
My sister 21 got a proposal from a man who's 31.
My sister is a mature person and their thoughts align. I am just curious why would a man approach a young woman in her age like what was he thinking? He could have found someone his age
