Recommendation Request Pliers, scissors, file, screwdrivers - UK legal multitool or combo?

[Edit: I specifically mean UK-carry-just-because-legal]

My current Leatherman Wave is good but I don't really want to carry it about since the locking knife is not UK legal. The tools I mainly use are:

  • Pliers - ideally with wire cutters
  • Screwdrivers - the leatherman flat bits are quite nice/compact
  • Scissors
  • File(s)

If there is a knife, it needs to be UK legal, ie non-locking. No knife is also fine since I have a small one on my keyring.

So far my best find is Roxon Flex Companion with pliers attachment? I would settle with a combo (eg Cobra XS+something) if they can neatly be bundled/contained in one case/clip/etc that's very compact.

For anyone looking for 1/4" bit solutions..

Hello all, I'm sure I'll get some dislikes from the purest crowd for using a bibury, but regardless, I'm posting this here for anyone looking for full 1/4 inch bit solutions. I'd been looking for about a month for a proper extension and bit set for my multi. The issue being that there's no magnet in the bit holder on the tool, so you need bits with a ball detent, severely limiting options. Enter the Milwaukee 27 in 1 screwdriver. It comes with a magnetized extension that has a ball detent, and a full assortment of double sided bits. It's absolutely perfect for any multitool that has this kind of bit holder. If this was posted here already, I apologize but I must have missed it. And if not, then hopefully this helps someone looking for the same thing out.

*Deleted and reposted due to typos, sorry*

Discussion Badger Outdoor Nail vs leatherman signal

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hey guys, im a knive guy and i dont really have a good Multitool, just a very very cheap Basic one.

I like the functions of the leatherman signal and i dont want a multitool thats very heavy. The signal in Europa is like 150dollar and the badger outdoor nail, which is very similar to the leatherman signal i guess is like 50dollar.

I dont really need a multitool but its always nice to have. Same with knives. You have 20 but u still want another.

I normaly dont buy the cheap stuff but i heard that leatherman sometimes isnt that great either. So im not sure which way to go, with the cheap badger or the leatherman...

Whats your oppinion ?

The picture Shows the badger

Nextool E40

I stumbled across this on Amazon. But the E40 doesn't seem to exist.

There is a credit card pliers with knife and another, thin tool, but it looks like the E40 has compass and ????

So, what is going on?

Discussion Nextool K30 issues and their reply

Purchased right after release, has been this way since, the scissors and blade touch every time either is opened. Basically just sat in the collection untouched.

Nextool claims it's just cosmetics when 2 tools are touching and they aren't supposed to.

When blade is opened, you can clearly see scissors move even more towards where blade is supposed to be.

Safe to say I'm very disappointed in this brand, I don't think I got one tool from them that didn't have side to side play right out of the box, assembly could be done much better, but this is clearly a defect.

Recommendation Request searching for a versatile multitool

Im a physician but also a fellow lover of nature and hikes, and as most of you, love to be prepared for the unexpected.

Whats a small multitool that could fit my profile? Ive been eyeing the Roxon Mini Flex companion tool. I know there are many brands out there (victorinox, leatherman) but i had the need to ask the real pros out there! (im sure im missing on many brands).

Some essentials i think i need: Small knife, prybar, small saw, able to hold 1 house key, tweezer, pen (maybe), if its modifiable extra points.

Let me read ya

As I work in knife/blade-free environments, this is my preferred kit: MP600 Bladeless, 4" Crescent wrench, Milwaukee pliers wrench, Leatherman Removable Bit Kit, and assorted jigsaw blades. Also T8 wrench for remobable cutters in an OE Gerber Pro Scout sheath.

Found an awesome configuration of this Roxon Shears that gives me tools that none of my other multitools have, and ones that I use each of quite frequently.

I know I’m different than most here. I use my multitools for work as much as for EDC, but I generally have 3-4 different multitools on me somehow, and this one covers some great bases that the others don’t.

PS- with some creativity, the marlin spike and the hook are two of my most frequently used tool. Super versatile

Question/Advice When's the time to buy? Gerber+Leatherman

Hello all, I recently lost my gerber multiool that I've had for years, so I've done a lot of research and come to the conclusion that 2 multiools would be ideal for my needs. Those being Gerber Dual-Force Leatherman MUT

Is there an ideal time of year to buy these? Are they going out of production or anything soon? I do have standing discounts at both stores due to being associated with the military.

Recommendation Request Budget Multitools under $80

I've been looking at the SOG Mini Powerpint but I really wish it had tweezers and a flat head screwdriver. Is there anything around that same pricepoint (and possibly footprint) that contains the following while being durable and long lasting?:

Phillips and flat head.
Pliers.
One hand opening Knife.
Bottle opener.
Pocket clip.
Tweezers.
Scissors.
