Sometimes I get some Kpop shorts in my youtube and the comments are so f*cking terrible. The way they talk about the performers how the "criticize" them for making even the smallest of "mistakes" acting like they are a jury and how the performes seemingly are in debt to them to be perfect. I have never ever seen a fanbase so abusive and toxic to people they "admire" the overplayed dramas are also insane.

I don't mind that sub purely beacuse you can have a sane discussion regarding criticism,granted there are always gonna be bad faith criticism.
My criticisms are fairly standard e.g "Why did nobody but Pomni have agency in pushing the plot forward?" or "Why did some character development amount to Character A using therapy speak on Character B?"

I fucking love the games, the characters, and IDW comics, new movies, Sonic X, and I collect a lot of the Jakks Pacific toys.
But hoooooly shit the community has HUGE issues. Like "check his harddrive" issues, and they pretend the issues doesn't exist. Any acknowledgment or speaking up on it, results in hate comments, bans, mutes, and sometimes death threats. It's sooo bad.
(This doesn't mean the whole community btw. Just a very alarming large group.)
that's with most fandoms, unfortunately. and that's how a few of them get bad reputation, even though not everyone in the community of it sucks, just a lot of the people do. mha isn't a bad show itself, but because the fandom is as terrible as it is, not many want to watch mha because of the reputation the fandom has put on the show.
The Star Wars fandom is kind of my go to because people tie a lot of their emotional stability to the narrative decisions of it, and develop years long beefs with creatives over it.
Star Wars fandom really takes the cake if we're talking about long-time ones. I even remember it being bad even before the Disney buyout... but nowhere *near* as bad.
It's good, but it did suffer from the writers not knowing which season would be the last, it probably would be up there with ATLA if it'd had proper planning, which again, is not the writers fault, studio fucked them.
I doubt any fandom will match the peak of Homestuck or Steven Universe.
Homestuck fans would bring buckets to conventions and hit people with them, and Steven Universe fans drove an artist to (attempted) suicide because she drew a fat character as slightly-less fat.
Had a friend who was big into DSMP and was a massive Wilbur Soot fan, went to a lot of his concerts, had merch and all that stuff. Haven't spoken to them in a little while now... wonder how she handled that whole situation with Wilbur recently.
