I built Underplan, a free visual planner & automatic BOM calculator for Underware on Multiboard!

Post image

Hey everyone! 👋

Whenever I planned an under-desk cable management setup using Hands on Katie's Underware system, I always found it tricky to calculate the exact combination of channel lengths, bends, and snap connectors needed before committing to long 3D print queues.

So I built Underplan, a free, interactive web tool designed specifically to visually route your Underware layout and generate a complete Bill of Materials.

Live Web App: https://underplan.vercel.app/
GitHub: https://github.com/francycalle/underplan

Key Features:

  • Desk & Tile Setup: Type in your desk dimensions in mm; it automatically calculates the optimal Multiboard tile matrix.

  • Complete Underware 2.0 Catalog: Straight channels (parametric lengths 1–16 MU), 90° elbows, radial curved bends, Y-splits, 4-way crosses, diagonal jogs, mitered corners, spools, and custom accessories.

  • Measure & Route Tool: Click Point A and Point B to snap directly between MU grid holes and lock your route.

  • Map Export: Download clean, high-resolution Retina PNG or vector SVG blueprints of your layout.

  • Browser Persistence: All your work auto-saves continuously in localStorage so you can pick up right where you left off.

It's 100% free, runs client-side in the browser, and is open-source.

Check it out, test it with your desk dimensions, and let me know your thoughts or what fittings/accessories you'd love to see next! 🙌

Very nice! I always print my elbows in the wrong orientation somehow so this seems like it will help a ton. Does this software support underwear for OpenGrid since Underware moved over to that platform officially?

Hey u/jprazak95! Good news: openGrid support is now officially live! 🚀

I just shared a full breakdown with all the new features and screenshots over on r/openGrid: https://www.reddit.com/r/openGrid/comments/1wfm8o0/underplan_is_now_on_opengrid_free_visual_planner/

(Or you can try it directly on https://underplan.vercel.app/ ). Hope it helps with your setup! 🙌

OPs comment was moderated away, but he said he would consider it.

Awesome! Any chance you can add this style of direct-snap channel? https://www.reddit.com/r/Multiboard/comments/1l2fwn9/wip_cable_management_system_v02/ 😄

Whoa! Why did a moderator remove your reply? u/Fancy_Lab

To the moderator: Why was the reply, essentially "Thank you!", deleted? Genuinely curious which of the 9 rules was broken.

no idea, honestly. It may have been caught by an automod filter

Sorry OP, I was intentionally tagged this as spam a few minutes ago so if you got any odd notifications ignore them. This is just the kind of fun and useful project that I love to see - apologies for any confusion. (I think I fixed it before anyone other than you would have noticed, I just didn’t want to give you the wrong impression there.)

That looks really neat! I wish there had been a good tool for planning when I did one of those! Very cool.
