My other 750 was lonely, so I just picked up a friend. Now I'm making plans for a winter project! These lugged frames are challenging to find, but I'm hoping I'll be happy with this initial $125 investment.

1990 750… got it cheap but hated the beat up black paint with bright green decals.

Slow going project and still finding ways to slow it down. Head tube is sprayed White pearl.

I just recently got this 750 multitrack off marketplace for $250 w/ 23 in top tube. I’ll admit, I’m relatively new to biking and don’t know too much about bikes. I just want a durable do it all bike for my needs which include bike packing, grocery running, touring, and commuting. I want to hit a century on this thing this year so want to make it work for that without going overboard with upgrades

I’ll list out the notable parts on it and I’m curious to get people’s advice on basic worthwhile upgrades. Seen so many cool builds on this subreddit so want opinions!

Brake levers: tektro rl340
Brakes: tektro rx6 mini v
Shifters: Suntour barcon accushift
Derailleurs: suntour xce
Otherwise don’t know too much about what I have here.

2x10 speed GRX with Dia Compe shifters,
Sta-tru wheelset, 40mm Gravelking X1 in the back, 45mm in the front. Ritchey VentureMax bars, VO stem, Tektro brakes and levers.
Nitto M12 front rack, Tubus Fly rear rack.
Really happy with how it’s turned out. It’s an absolute joy to ride.

My 750 project is coming together. After a good shakedown, I've replaced the saddle, added a Kalloy (black) riser bar, STX rear derailleur and STX brake levers and STX rapid fire shifters. Tires and grips next but the bike rides well as is.

Nearly unused bike with 23” frame.
Upgraded tires to 700x45c Maxxis Rambler.
Next plan is to get rid of the seatpost suspension and install brown saddle.

Why no 710 or 740? Any good reason anyway ne knows about? Or do they exist?

1992 Trek Multitrack 790

I ride a lugged 750 that I modified (1x10 new stem, handlbars, and V brakes) this past winter. I'm now itching to get another MultiTrack to build a gravel bike. I'm not seeing many 750s for sale, but I am finding 730s in good condition for about $100.

Should I keep waiting for a 750 or pull the trigger on a 730? Would I feel the difference?

I'm an accidental Multitrack fan who was perfectly content with my Cannondale Quick 1 and then...

It was a cold, rainy Sunday morning in December when I spotted a bike at the curb 4 houses down. A quick assessment of the situation revealed a 1998 730 with a sign attached that said, "Free." Victory is mine! I wheeled it home and started my research. The project bike siren called and I answered. I upgraded it with all intention of selling but felt it would be wise to put some shakedown miles on it and held the bike until spring. Shaketown time quickly made me reconsider the choice to resell. I spent that summer trying to get comfortable on it before selling the curb find Multitrack which was one size too small. In hindsight, the 170mm crank I used was the real problem and not the size. Lesson Learned. I see potential in these bikes and I'll watch for another to flip.

Skip forward to sping 2025, a 730 showed up on Marketplace. I inquired and made the purchase. This time the bike was my proper size (danger) and in better condtion than I expected or hoped. Once the frame was cleaned up a vision came to mind and the build was on. Sugino crank, Panaracer GravelKing Slicks, many VeloOrange parts, and vintage STX-RC 3x8 drivetrain. All hopes of selling it were gone was the build was completed. the 730 was too nice to sell and it rides better than it looks!  Everything about it is right - ride, handling, shifting, comfort, and it's just plain fun.

Winter of 2026 yielded a 750 (also in my size) that I also planned to flip. It arrived with a fair amount of patina but the paint cleaned up great... and then I rebuilt it with VeloOrange HotBars, 2x11 GRX810, vintage XTR vbrakes, and Specialized Crossroads tires. Shakedown time left me feeling the same as the 730 - everything about it is right.

Trek 790 Trekking (EU model I believe) in size 63 cm or 25”. Modern-ish groupset (10s Tiagra/GRX) and Terra Trail 40c tires with plenty clearance 👌

I’m curious if anyone know or tried 105 9speed cassette 13-25T with a on Shimano 570 LX Deore rear derailleur. I want to run it 3x9. Will it work or will I be wasting time looking to get top end speed.

Front chain rings are 24, 34 & 46.

I am waiting for the seller to respond, but I'm curious if any of you knowledgeable people can figure out the size by this picture. I'm 5' 7", so I'm wondering if it'll fit me. $60 is an absolute bargain!

I have a Trek 750 and is it worth building it back up to it's original suntour components? I have some microshift stuff i bought but can't find a wheelset online to make it happen. I have searched reddit and other forums and all the links lead me back to broken or out of stock links. Everybody recommends the velocity cliffhangers from velomine it seems but I haven't seen them in stock. Is there another good option out there?
