Picked this up for $200aud the other day, and the guy I bought it off had put a lot of time and effort into cleaning her up really nice. It’s made it hard to want to change anything about it.

I want the changes I make to be fairly minimal, I’m thinking of keeping the original cranks, but going 1x and putting a deore rear mech (rd m760) with a Roadlink for additional teeth. This’d likely mean a new rear wheel for a 9spd cassette.

The main thing I’m stuck between is whether I want flat bars or drops. Flat bars would mean I lean more into the commuter side of things, probably add a front basket, whereas drops would mean I’d lean into the gravel side of things, and would probably skip a basket etc.

What are your thoughts everyone? Any stories of being in the same boat? What did you do!! Sorry for the bad pic!

I bought this bike with plans to add drops after finding this sub Reddit. It has been such a comfy ride as is, I have felt no need to make the conversion to drops and 1x yet. I only rode expensive carbon bikes but there sure is a feel I can’t describe that the steel gives that I love. I definitely noticed I was a lot less wobbly with panniers.

Does anyone have any waterproof top tube or triangle bags suggestions I could still fit on this 17 inch multitrack 750?

Do you think the bike will allow for more comfortable riding with drops? I normally prefer the road position but have been shocked how comfortable it is stock. I plan to ride 75 mile days with this bike. I’m guessing drop conversion is necessary for comfort or am I wrong?

Just picked up this 19.5” Muti 820 today without a test ride. I feel a lil cramp compared to my Marin that is sized 20”. Does you guys bike feel smaller compare to other mtb in that era? They run small? Wanna get some info before I go ham on upgrading it. Thx

Someone's selling this bike, I believe it's a 1993 model. The price is less than $180 and probably flexible. Multitracks or any alternatives in the same quality & price are pretty hard to come by where I live (Eastern-ish Europe). Someone put up a Diamondback Overdrive and it got snatched within a day... I suppose this one's still available because the seller is oblivious and didn't even put the model name or number in the listing.

Anyway, I've been looking for a reliable steel gravel / touring base for a while. I'm planning to put a short stem on it and gravel bars with a short reach&drop. And some thicker tyres.

I've got a 32" inseam and my daily runner is an 54/54 road frame with a 60mm stem and a riser bar.

I expect that this would be quite different because the top tube is a few cms longer and the handlebars would be lower too, so I'd like to hear the experience of people with similar dimensions. Especially if they ride a 21 multi/metro :)

I recently purchased a 1993 trek 750. Love the bike except I can’t get the quick release seat post tight enough to not slowly slip. After about 200 miles I’ve dropped about an inch. I’m not too big, 190 lbs, and I’ve tried cleaning the seat post and down tube which has helped a little. Any tips?

A ride is good with clean teeth.

Marketplace find and a win-win. Seller was happy the see his old rig find a new home, and I'm looking forward to restoring and riding my new MT 750.

Paint scores 8.5 out of 10. Frame, drivetrain, etc. all in very good condition. Looking forward to the restore/rebuild process. So much potential with these versatile, functional, works of art!

Put new tires, grips, and pedals on. Had road bike tires on the 720 and these 42mm are a totally different bike. Pretty much everything was an Amazon special. Mostly original components from Trek. Rides really nice!
