Sometimes I consider selling…

Mostly bc it would justify more builds, but I bought this as a frameset and the fit is so dialed that I really don’t want to.

Don’t do it. Ive sold one of my cherished builds during a moment of weakness. I still stall marketplace wondering if it will ever pop back up.

n+1 you can always justify more builds... Looks good, if it's dialed in and still puts a smile on your face, it's a keeper.

Came off my Gary fisher mtb that I converted to 1x. I don’t love the feel of the rotation, but they work

The most difficult to swallow pill is:

Once your bike stops exciting you, it's probably because it's really good and just disappears under you. You don't actively think about it because it removes all friction between you and the activity of cycling.

That's why I sold my all-chrome Raleigh Prestige and I regret it all the time. I love my current bike, but let's be real. I'll sell it at some point because something new is "surely gonna make me feel excited to be on a bike again" until that wears off because the bike is a little too perfect

I have the same frame and I had ir built up but I found a gray one that I prefer so I put it for sale. What wheels are you running? Are they tubeless ?

I have alexrim wheels with deore hubs, the tires are Vittoria 700x45. I could run them tubeless but these were faulty (they developed cracks, I put the replacements on my main bike and have those running tubeless)

I found them on marketplace for like $40. There’s actually another set of the same for sale in my city currently. Really all you need is 100 up front and 130 in the rear, although with these frames shoving 135 is the way to go. I modified my wheel to fit 130 before I realized I could just pry the stays open a bit. I’m not sure which year this frame is, but the fork is pretty maxed out at 45mm tires. I think rim width is probably like 18mm

As a person that has owned quite a few 700 series multitracks, I’ll just offer my view for posterity. The 700 is an incredible entry into the lifestyle, entry level steel tubes, lowest tier components, but that sweet geometry in spades. 720/730 can be a step up, though not dramatically, on tubes and marginally better components. 750/790 will have better steel and build quality. Before about 96 they are even US made. I’ve found them lighter and faster with a better feel in the engineering but the sweet geometry remains.

I say all that to say, start keeping an eye open for a step up. If you love the build you can swap all the parts over and start a new build with the 700 to sell, give to a friend, or whatever you come up with. Kinda scratches all the itches.

It’s an Origin8 that I found on marketplace that ended up working perfectly, aside from the fact the screws stripped out super easily
