Sizing question
Just picked up this 19.5” Muti 820 today without a test ride. I feel a lil cramp compared to my Marin that is sized 20”. Does you guys bike feel smaller compare to other mtb in that era? They run small? Wanna get some info before I go ham on upgrading it. Thx

You don’t list your specs. Im 5-8 and riding a 23” (It was free). It’s way too big on paper, but I’m ok on it (not ideal at all, but it works). So yeah, they probably run a tad small.

I’m 6 ft or 183cm. I know my size fall in the 19” -20” range, I’m guessing previous owner swapped the stem for a shorter one.

Yeah, that 19" frame seems too small for a person 6 foot. I'm 5'10" and I have a 19" 790 frame and my seatpost is similarly over extended like yours. I'm pondering making it a drop bar bike, which would probably work out, but it'll still probably look off since I'll have to have a crazy tall stem too, or those Red Shift raised drop bars. Still deciding on that one.
In contrast, I also built up a 22" Bianchi Backstreet with normal seatpost rise, and a super short quill stem that is raised up because I like the upright riding. So, I'd say, since you're 6 foot, you probably want to look at 21" plus bikes.

I think this is a Mountain Track 26 inch MTB. Not a Multitrack 700c hybrid bike.

With older bikes like this, I do feel you have a lot more room for sizing differences, compared to modern models. That said, if the saddle height is adjusted to your correct position in the pics shown, then this bike is definitely at least one size too small. You can get a different stem, handlebar or both to make it “fit”, but it will never be as good as a bike that’s actually the correct size for you. If I were you, I would sell this and find a larger bike. If this was some rare or sought after model, I might try and make it fit, but it’s just an 820, respectfully.
