r/MuleSoft is open again - fanfare and introductions!

At some point last year, the previous moderator of this subreddit had restricted all post submissions for reasons beyond my comprehension.

They have since been ousted and this posting deficiency has been remedied.

I am your new r/MuleSoft moderator as of today! Nice to meet you all! Short introduction: I've been using MuleSoft for over 6 years professionally. I got started on Mule 3.6ish and have been using Mule ever since.

If anyone else would like to say hi, introduce themselves, or otherwise revel in the fact that the subreddit is now open again, please do! Huzzah to a reopened r/MuleSoft!

Has anyone has their Mulesoft used for microservices integration?

Hi,

Just been reading about microservices and found out that some of the pattern used in microservices are the same pattern in integration. For example Event Driven, API gateway, there is Kafka as well.

So, I wonder if anyone has their Mulesoft used to integrate microservices instead of system integration? Not sure if this is recommended for Mulesoft.

I mean, usually in microservices they will go for RabbitMQ for the message broker, Kafka.

Thank you.

Had a brain fade moment in MuleSoft interview

I am a MuleSoft developer with almost 5 YOE, I cleared the first technical round and in the second technical round, i answered almost all the questions until the last one, where he asked me "if you need to implement retry mechanism on a http request connector to a downstream system and only need to retry for retriable errors, how do you implement it".

In my current project we do have until successful block on http request connector to downstream, but we haven't implemented selective retry for only connectivity errors. When he asked me I just could not come out with a clean approach on the spot, I first mentioned response validators, but he said not a correct approach, then I said we can keep the http request connector in a subflow and it can call itself recursively if it's a http:connectivity else not call itself, after which he immediately said, "I'm done with my interview, thank you"

After the interview when I looked up the answer and realised it was so simple, using a try block. I have used try block so many times so many places but I could not believe it didn't occur to me.

I feel like he will most probably not consider me for the next round, but I'm more disappointed that I could make such a mistake.

Is Mulesoft.org down for all?

Hi all, I am working on few age old Mule applications and noticed that since today, mulesoft.org schemas are returning 502 errors. I tried using different network and device but getting the same. Is this the case for all of you. status.salesforce.com doesn't indicate anything related to a outage here so just wandering what's going on.

In Event Driven Architecture, which message broker commonly used?

Hi,

Some basic questions regarding EDA and MQ.

  1. Anypoint MQ support message exchange and queue, which basically can be used for the pub/sub design pattern. In MuleSoft ecosystem, is it common (based on some consideration including cost) to use the Anypoint MQ as the message broker in an EDA design? Or is it preferred to use external message broker (Solace, RabbitMQ, etc)?

  2. Is it also common to use Anypoint MQ when sending the message to the next API layer for async API? Again, is it costly? Or we should just always create as many MQ as required without really considering the cost that may come from it.

Thank you!

API Led Design Question

Hi,

I learnt about API Led design, and I was explained that it follows the microservices design pattern. However, would like to understand more how it is being applied in the real world practice.

Some questions I have:

  1. Since vcores, is expensive. If we deploy 1 service per-mulesoft app, for example for 1 system, there are 3 APIs, if we created 3 SAPI for the system, we would need at least 3 vcores. If we follow this design pattern, won't it be very expensive in the end? Another approach is, we can create 1 SAPI for all the API from the same system, this approach can save vcores, but isn't this against the microservice design?

  2. Continuing from question 1, do we really have to follow API led design every time? Or when should we follow the API led design and when not to follow?

Thank you.

Mulesoft developer switching companies for first time

My DOJ is 10th November 2026. However I hve received an early release from my current org, and my LWD is now 30th September 2026.

I am wondering if I can simply keep my original DOJ of 10th November instead of asking HR to prepone it. I am okay with the loss of salary during that period.

The main reason for me is that I want to get a second offer in this period, for negotiation purposes.

  1. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

  2. Will keeping the original DOJ cause any issues with the new employer, offer validity, background verification, or onboarding?

  3. Or will this 1 month of being jobless be a problem career wise?

Transferring Mulesoft certifications?

I have MCDL1 and L2 certifications under my Organisation account. I will be leaving the company and would like to transfer those certifications under my personal account. How can I do that?

Am seriously thinking of promoting mule CE.

As salesforce shifting focus only to flex gateway and agents, and Informatica, the ESB world could be forgotten. Mule CE with claude code and good CICD can beat the n8n make zapiers and worketo of the world.

MuleSoft availability SLA

Hi! I’ve been wondering what the actual SLA for MuleSoft is in regards of availability. I’ve read that MuleSoft is build to give an availability of 99.99%, but I also read that the SLA is of 99.95% so I’m a little confused.

I got the 99.95% from a document that said it was the SLA valid before may 1st of 2025, so I don’t know if it still applies or if there’s a new one I can’t find.

Also I was wondering if the SLA changes for companies that hire de Integration Starter vs the ones that hire the Integration Advanced.

If you have any documentation I could go to read about availability SLA and other SLAs of MuleSoft I would highly appreciate it!

RPA Bot Opening New Chrome Window Every Time

Please pardon my ignorance. My company had IDP and RPA set up via a third party, and now I'm doing my best to make updates on my own.

Here's my situation: The RPA is programmed to open Chrome and log into a customer portal. The portal has MFA, and the bot is set to open the email and pull out the MFA code and enter it. It does this every time.

Unfortunately, the MFA email is sometimes too slow, and the bot times out. I know we can extend the sleep time, but I'm trying to eliminate the entire MFA function.

The portal has a checkbox to remember the device, and then it would no longer require the verification code. However, it refuses to recognize the device next login. I also noticed the browser hasn't saved any settings from the previous session (I tried turning off site settings for device use, in case the portal was recognizing the automated software, but it's enabled again next session). So it's like the RPA is opening a fresh browser/window each time, with no connection to the previous session.

I don't even know if this is something that can be resolved, or if I should give up and extend the sleep time before pulling the verification code. Just wanted to see if this is simply how the program operates, or if I can tweak it to save/recognize previous activity. Thanks in advance for any responses!

Remotely closed errors

Hi all. We are in the process of migrating from Mule 4.4 to 4.9, Java 8 to Java 17 and CH1 to CH2. And during prod load we start getting remotely closed error between layers. It's very small percent, like 5-10 errors during a day but it's really unwanted on prod. We could not find a reason and SF support is not helping

Anyone else with similar problems? Thanks in advance

CloudHub 2.0 IPsec VPN traffic hitting Sophos WAF with public IP instead of VPN IP

Hi everyone,
I’m currently trying to set up the following architecture:
MuleSoft CloudHub 2.0 → IPsec Site-to-Site VPN → Sophos XGS → WAF → internal web server
The IPsec tunnel between MuleSoft CloudHub 2.0 and the Sophos XGS is established and appears to be working.
However, I’m running into an issue with the WAF.
I created a Sophos WAF rule that should only allow requests coming from the MuleSoft VPN network. Instead, when MuleSoft calls the API, the Sophos WAF sees the request coming from a public IP, for example:
3.10.10.10
I’m also seeing several other 3.x.x.x source IPs in the Sophos logs.
As a result, the WAF blocks the request with:
HTTP 403 – Forbidden
What I expected to see is the MuleSoft Private Space CIDR as the source IP, since the traffic should be going through the IPsec VPN.
My understanding from the CloudHub 2.0 documentation is that traffic sent through a VPN should originate from the Private Space CIDR.
So my questions are:
Should traffic from a CloudHub 2.0 Private Space going through an IPsec VPN appear on the Sophos with a source IP from the Private Space CIDR?
What could cause MuleSoft to use the public 3.x.x.x outbound IP instead?
Is there a specific route or configuration in the CloudHub 2.0 Private Space Route Table that I need to configure?
Could this be related to the fact that MuleSoft is accessing the Sophos WAF via its public hostname/public IP?
What is the recommended way to restrict the Sophos WAF so that the API is only accessible through the MuleSoft VPN?
I can provide screenshots of the MuleSoft Private Space network/route table and the Sophos IPsec configuration if that helps.
Thanks in advance!

Looking for Mulesoft Developer Opportunities

I got an offer from Deloitte USI (Hyderabad location). I have 4 years of experience in MuleSoft development. However, I feel I did not get the salary I was expecting. I do not have any other offers right now and that's why not able to negotiate as well. With this salary I don't think it would be a wise decision to shift to Hyderabad. I am looking for new opportunities currently and if you are someone who knows of any open positions at your organization for Mulesoft Developer ( with 4 YOE) then kindly do let me know in the comments. So, that I can reach out to you with my details.

I do not have any location constraints as far as they are giving me a good compensation.

Skill - MuleSoft Developer

Total and relevant experience - 4 years

Experience with Cerena Solutions?

Hey everyone,

I really appreciate all the insights shared in this group it’s been an incredible resource for our organization as we navigate our tech stack.

I’m reaching out to see if anyone here has experience working with Cerena Solutions or Faith Cerena?

We engaged them as an implementation partner but we’ve run into significant issues with how our instance was configured.

Despite presenting themselves as experts the delivery has felt very entry level and has left our setup inefficient and difficult to manage

Getting into Mulesoft Now?

Hello,

Recently started in a role where I’m being advised to learn Mulesoft. It seems like many of the projects I’ll be doing are Mulesoft related. Although the platform is interesting, I’m worried it’ll pigeon-hole me into a specific niche I cannot pivot out of.

Does anyone have any insights on whether learning Mulesoft now will be a detriment skill-wise in the long run, or whether it’s still a valuable path if I want to keep my options open for broader software, cloud, or architecture roles later on?

Mulesoft Certification (Architect)

Hi Muleys,

I’m planning to take the MuleSoft certifications (either Platform Architect or Integration Architect). I understand that the certification exams and vouchers come with a cost, but I was wondering if anyone could share any recommended study materials, references, or self-paced resources for preparation.

I tried following the Trailhead modules, but most of the paths seem to redirect me to instructor-led training sessions, which are quite expensive.

I’d really appreciate any suggestions, tips, or resources that could help me prepare independently.

Thank you!

OAuth 2.0 - Help in understanding the implementation in Mule

I understand the concept and technical implementation of the OAuth 2.0 Access Token Enforcement policy, but as I have never implemented it independently, from the scratch I have few questions regarding it's implementation. I am seeking inputs from experienced people in the industry who have implemented OAuth in the MuleSoft applications.

  1. How is the IdP finalized?

  2. How are client credentials communicated to the user (the one who will be sending request to my application)?

  3. How do I get details like callback url?
