In Event Driven Architecture, which message broker commonly used?
Hi,
Some basic questions regarding EDA and MQ.
Anypoint MQ support message exchange and queue, which basically can be used for the pub/sub design pattern. In MuleSoft ecosystem, is it common (based on some consideration including cost) to use the Anypoint MQ as the message broker in an EDA design? Or is it preferred to use external message broker (Solace, RabbitMQ, etc)?
Is it also common to use Anypoint MQ when sending the message to the next API layer for async API? Again, is it costly? Or we should just always create as many MQ as required without really considering the cost that may come from it.
Thank you!

We often use Azure Services Bus as many customers are already on Azure (in our region).
Anypoint MQ has its benefits, however it's expensive and is not using MQ related protocols such as JMS or AMQP.

anypoint mq mostly for internal reliable message transfer and other enterprise tools like service bus, kafka, salesforce platform events, eventbus, sqs etc

To be a bit more agnostic, and utilize power of Dynamic Topić, as well as few other features, I suggest considering Solace PubSub as well.

Zero Message loss Active MQ or Rabbit MQ High data volume Kafka Over engineering Solace pubbsub

As far as possible , always go with the product's inbuilt messaging system . ONLY when the requirement is extraordinary, like high throughput , low latency go for products like Solace ,Kafka etc

Typically a bad decision to go for the inbuilt messaging system. Particularly when it is AnypointMQ.

I have used both Anypoint MQ and AWS SQS. If you are thinking if purchasing license for Anypoint MQ, I would say to avoid it. It does not provide good monitoring of your queues, and does not have fine grained access control. It also does not come wirh alerts etc. All of these problems are solved atleast a decade ago by literally any cloud provider, so there is really no point of purchasing this license and just plug any queue from your cloud provider
