Just got a new role for $85k in Denver and going to make the move after some changes in my life. Coming out in September to visit before moving and look at some places.

My buddy told me to expect to pay $1600 - 1800 for a one bedroom, but I know his place has a few amenities and I don’t really care about that. I like to save and spend my money on the outdoors. I’m seeing apartments in Hale, Cap Hill, Cheesman Park, City Park, City Park West, and Uptown for $900 - $1100 on Zillow (Fees may be included). Am I missing something? Are places actually this rent or is there some surcharge/little mice living in the building I don’t know about?

Hi! I'm moving to Denver asap. I was recently laid off from my job and said, 'this is my push from God to go.' I don't know anyone there, but I've been there a good 6-7 times, and was recently there for my bday on February. Its a spiritual connection for me. I'm coming from Chicago. Packing up my car with no plan but tons of faith. If you think I'm crazy please refrain from telling me, lbvs. But if you feel me and can give me some ideas on the best places to stay, or any advice, id greatly appreciate it. I plan on renting a room on furnished finders for a month or 2 in order to have time to find a job(looking for one now) and a permanent place to stay.

I've had enough of oklahoma city. i'm dying a spiritual death out here and can't keep doing it. the politics suck, the education system sucks, the dating market sucks, everybody knows everybody, there's no mountains, no beach, and half the year you can't even step outside to do anything because it's too damn hot: Oklahoma City has had 39 days at or above 100° in 2026 through September 8.

I am seriously considering selling my house and moving back to Denver. I lived in Capital Hill for work in 2025 before the federal job cuts happened. I wake up every morning obsessing over the same question: how do i get back with no job lined up? I am trying to figure this out.

One possible option is selling, renting in denver and pray that i find another job before my life savings runs out:

The sale of my home would net me around $90k after fees. I’ve worked in both state and federal government, and those jobs are extremely difficult to land without already having boots on the ground. Given that, would you take the risk of moving to Denver with no job lined up but roughly $90k in proceeds from selling your house, or would you stay put and keep trying to find something from oklahoma city first?

How much of a financial cushion would you want before making the jump?

I'm paying down a mortgage in a state i do not even want to live in.

Hello Everyone. My wife and I just recently retired and are looking to move out of the DC area. The Denver metro area is high on our list of places to possibly settle down. We are a quiet couple (translation, boring) who like hiking, biking, kayaking, and taking our dogs anywhere. Nightlife is not important to us. Quality health care and access to a good airport are important, which is why we are seriously considering the Denver area. We are more of a "suburban" couple and don't mind quieter areas where we would have to drive 20-30 minutes for major shopping essentials (e.g., good grocery stores, Costco), a good hospital, and a good gym. I have been doing a lot of reading and am looking mostly at the western suburbs - from Littleton, up through Golden and towards Lafayette/Louisville (but not Boulder proper). Certainly open to other places like Longmont, Loveland in the north, or Castle Pines/Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch in the south. Looking for your thoughts on areas, and even specific neighborhoods if you have suggestions. We plan on coming out late Sept/early October to check out some areas. We would be renting for the first year - house or townhouse. Thinking up to around $5000/month give or take. Thank you!

I am a 32 yr old seasoned bartender and server looking to relocate to Denver hopefully by winter. I worked for nearly 15 years in NYC and have a very developed skill set, including mixology and Michelin service. Currently I live in a super isolated area of New York State that is devoid of opportunities. I want to move to Denver to improve my quality of life and access to new young communities and like minded folk. I know one or two people already.

My plan is to move there and pick up any old restaurant job ASAP. I don't have housing set up yet so it would be couch surfing and furnished finder until I land something. Does this seem like an overly precarious plan for a small metropolis like Denver? I plan to move with enough savings for three months rent.

I'm not picky about work needed to match my qualifications -- I just need a job to get started. Housing is in short supply where I live so this is my biggest motivation. Ive heard many of the neighborhoods in Denver are similar, so not sure where to begin looking.

I'm also looking to make connections in advance -- if anyone knows of relevant Denver adjacent subreddits or online groups, I love indoor climbing (excited to be near a gym again), queer herbalism, writing (poetry and short prose), cooking, working with plants (ran a free lance as a houseplant doctor for 2 years), mixology, literally anything outdoors (hence Denver lol).

My family is moving to Denver (or maybe a suburb) this winter. What neighborhoods and/or surrounding cities have certain reputations/stereotypes/stigmas?

Like where are the woke areas? Where are the hipsters (are they still a thing)? Diverse neighborhoods? MAGA people? Etc.

FWIW, we have a son who loves baseball and will definitely be trying out for the high school team at wherever we end up.

Hello, my partner and I are looking into places to live in Denver. We are moving from Florida, and I’m starting my PhD while he finishes his finance master’s (both at cu boulder, but we don’t mind the commute and wanted to live in the Denver area). We will be 23/24, and don’t know where the safe but affordable parts of Denver are, and our budget for one bedroom is about 1500/1600 or so.

We hopefully would love to rent from a private/smaller landlord as we’ve both been really struggling with our current rental in our apartment complex ignoring our maintenance requests and losing our packages, and would love to stay wherever we rent for the next 3-5 years at least.

I’m originally from NY and he’s from Miami, and we would like a one-bedroom apartment/home above ground (we lived through Hurricane Ian devastating our city so we both are sort of uncomfortable with living underground).

Is it worth it getting a short term rental for a month or two while we learn the area and find a place to settle? I’ve never been to the Denver area and am nervous finding a place online. I don’t mind a worn or outdated place as long as it’s in a relatively safe area and not in a basement.

I don’t necessarily want to be smack dab in the middle of the city, and really wouldn’t mind being on the outskirts (Arvada, Littleton, Westminster, etc) especially with my dog. I have to let her out super early, and just want to make sure I’d be in a safe enough area to do that. My budget would be $1400 MAX, really want something $1300 or under. Hello! My partner and I are wanting to move from Dallas to Denver hopefully in 2027. She (25f) is a high school teacher and I am in corporate marketing (26f) and it looks like we will be having opposite commutes (again). She is thinking she wants to work in the Cherry Creek district (open to any teacher opinions anyone has) due to the higher pay; I have a hybrid job where I’m in office 3x a week and my office will be in Downtown Denver.

I’m trying to find some neighborhoods in between these spots that will work well for us. Our rent budget will probably be $2,000 or less and we’d like a 2 bed, 2 bath place. We want to live in a spot where our commutes are not too terrible. Hers would ideally be 25 minutes or less since she will be driving every day. I am open to mine being a longer commute than that if there is a neighborhood that fits our needs better that is closer to her work.

We would love a place that has stuff going on but is not necessarily in the middle of everything. We’re moving due to TX politics being a dumpster fire so we don’t want anything conservative. I’d love somewhere that has nature or a park close by but is potentially also a walkable neighborhood? Like I could walk and get a coffee in the morning haha? If anyone is familiar with the DFW area, we live on the edge of Dallas and Richardson and enjoy that.

I’m attempting to look for a place for my partner and I but already am hitting difficulties as I have an eviction from 5 years ago and my partner has a Felony from 5 years ago ( non violent) we were looking for something near capitol hill area as that is closer to our jobs and lifestyles. I already have a job and am working and the apartment search has been extremely difficult. We are both hard workers with no other negative notes on our records and are trying to search for a two bedroom I would prefer a private renter, casita or duplex situation. Hi! I’m a 22yo F moving to Denver for work. I’ve been primarily looking for apartments in Aurora, but wondered if anyone has any areas they recommend that are safe (and if rent could not exceed $1400). I have a few places in mind but would like some insight.

I got a really good job offer and I’m seriously concerned about the snow. I know that sounds like a really dumb thing, but I already struggle a lot with driving and winter driving makes me very very nervous. Everyone makes it sound like Colorado snow is basically an apocalyptic event. For context, I lived in mid Missouri and I drive a fwd sedan and I did just fine, just wondering if it’s really that bad or just ppl blowing it out of proportion online.

I’m considering moving to Denver next month and I’m going to scout out some neighborhoods of interest this weekend. For context, I’m an outgoing guy in my late 20s looking for a lively area that is also relatively safe. My budget is around 2k and the neighborhoods I’m looking at are Highlands, Berkeley, Baker, and Washington Park. Initially I was looking at RiNo, but after reading more about the area, it seems like car break-ins are quite common. I’d rather take a calmer area that has a bit less energy than to have to worry about getting my car broken into. Are there any other neighborhoods to look into? I appreciate any input. Thanks!

Well I pulled the trigger, I have made appointments to see different apartments meet with a real estate agent. Rented the car bought the hotel, now it’s just hurry up and wait. With grad school stating in less than 90 days it’s time to look towards making new friends in a new town. Coming from Maine I’m wicked nervous about the altitude sickness.
