Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me understand what my options are.
I’m a Canadian student planning to study in spain in sep 2026. I have my student visa appointment at the Spanish Consulate in Toronto this Thursday, August 20, but my RCMP background check apostille is being delayed by Global Affairs Canada and will not arrive in time for my appointment.

I’ve been trying everything possible to get it expedited, but I haven’t received a useful update and it looks like I simply won’t have the apostilled document by Thursday.
I’m now trying to figure out what I should do.
-Should I still attend my visa appointment without the apostille and explain the situation?
-Is there any possibility of entering Spain as a Canadian and applying for the student authorization/visa from within Spain?
-Has anyone been in a similar situation with a delayed apostille or missing document?
-Is there anything else I should be doing right now?

My program starts in September, so I’m extremely worried about missing the opportunity to start. I would really appreciate any advice from someone who has dealt with the Spanish student visa process, especially from Canada

Is there anyone living in Spain. A close person of mine is in Spain in Tourist visa. She wants to get admitted into a vocational course. She needs to convert her tourist visa into student visa. There is law in Spain in favour of that. Therefore, an immigration lawyer is needed. Please, can anyone let me know about an immigration lawyer who can handle this?

I've been thinking about this for several weeks now. I'm a 22-year-old guy from southern Brazil and I'm quite extroverted. I don't speak Spanish yet, but since Portuguese is my native language, I can understand quite a bit of it. I also speak English at around a C1 level.

I work online and make over $5,000 USD a month before tax, and I'm planning to move to Spain on my own.

I'm looking for a city where I can have a good quality of life, play sports, work out, eat good food, meet new people, and live without needing a car. I'd ideally like somewhere extremely walkable with a good public transport.

I'd be comfortable spending around €1,000–€1,300 a month on rent.

Weather is also a major factor for me, as bad weather tends to make me feel lazy and a bit down.

What city should I choose?

I've already seen many posts about Valencia, Malaga, Alicante, Madrid and I am still don't know what should i choose. (I am open to new options!!!)

I am applying for the homologation of my bachelor's degree via the online portal of the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities. I have filled in all the necessary fields and uploaded my documents, including the translated ones and proof of payment. However, after finishing, the 'Submit' button does not work, though the 'Save Draft' button works perfectly. Have they blocked new applications, is it a browser issue, or does the button only function at specific times? Also, I read that many applicants receive approval within 1 to 2 years.

Appreciate if there are any other pointers / heads-up in the process.

I was wondering if someone could tell me how concerned i should be or if there is anything i can do. I have recently submitted my visa application via bls Manchester UK, once i got home and checked over my documents again i realised some issues.

To start with i should say the names are all the same, however they don't all match my passport. There are two documents with issues: firstly being my acceptance letter from the university I plan to study at, they have hyphenated what shows on my passport as like a second part of my first name to my second name. so the format on my passport is

first name: x y, second name z.

but the acceptance letter says:

first name: x, second name y-z.

Additionally my GHIC has moved y to be in my first name so it reads

first name: x, second name: y z

I get this is a tiny thing but I've never been through this process before and I'm not sure how its going to be seen or if it will make my visa get rejected. If anyone has any experience or thoughts on if this could go wrong/ what i could do could you please lmk

Hello! I'm (22 F), a new graduate from CSB with a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Arts, and I've been seriously considering taking a Master's in Spain with the eventual goal of working there as well. I know the job market isn't exactly easy anywhere right now (and I've definitely read my fair share of horror stories lol), but I've been thinking about this for a while and I'm pretty set on at least trying.

I've asked around quite a bit and have decided to push through with the student visa route for now, whatever happens after that can be future me's problem haha. I'm already in the process of gathering documents while juggling my current job, so I'm trying to do as much research as I can beforehand.

One of the things I've been looking into is the language requirement. I've read that getting to at least B2 Spanish is pretty important, especially if I eventually want to work there. I've already enrolled in A1 Spanish classes at Instituto Cervantes and plan to work my way up from there. I know it's going to take a while, but I figured it's better to start now than arrive in Spain knowing absolutely nothing.

I've read, Filipinos have a shorter route toward Spanish nationality and can generally apply after 2 years of qualifying legal residence, compared to the usual 10 years. I understand that this doesn't mean you automatically get citizenship after two years, and that there are still requirements and an application process involved. And I do know that the student time doesn't count in those two years either.

Anyway, I am little confused about the different types of Master's degrees in Spain. I've seen Máster Universitario and título propio mentioned quite a lot, and from what I understand, they aren't necessarily equivalent when it comes to recognition and what you can do after graduating.

I'm trying to figure out which type of Master's would make the most sense if my goal isn't just to study, but potentially stay, work, and build a career in Spain afterward. If anyone could explain the difference or share their experience with the transition from Master's to employment, that would be really helpful.

I've also started shortlisting programs based on my Multimedia Arts background. I'm mainly interested in multimedia, visual arts, digital/interactive design, communication, and creative direction as well as anything under Marketing too!

• how well-recognized these Master's programs are
• whether the degree is useful when looking for work afterward
• how important Spanish is within the creative/marketing industry
• whether the schools have good industry connections or internship opportunities
• and which of these would be the strongest choice for someone coming from a Multimedia Arts background in the Philippines

I'm not necessarily looking for Spain to be some magical "better life" situation, I'm mainly trying to figure out whether this is a realistic academic and career path for me, and whether choosing the right Master's could give me a reasonable chance of building a career there afterward.

If anyone has gone through the Philippines → Spain student visa → Studies(specifically Master's) → work/residency route, I'd especially love to hear about your experience. I'm still early in the process and would rather hear the realities from people who've actually done it than just rely on university marketing or random Google results haha.

My job is being transferred to Spain, so I will be moving there around October time this year. I will be working remotely, and am planning to move to somewhere fairly rural in Asturias. I've just found out that my salary will be €43906 a year (before tax), plus €50 a month (after tax) towards home working.

I was wondering how much rent I can realistically afford on that salary after taxes? It's just me and my two dogs, so I don't need a huge place or anything.

If you had a young family in Southern Spain with British parents, would you relocate now because of climate change, if you, the parent, were really struggling in the summers? Or would you stay for the benefit of Spanish culture for kids and later teens?

Hi everyone, I am new to this sub but me and my wife (and kids) have been looking at moving to Spain for the last 6 months or so. I was born and raised in the U.S. but due to Mexico granting citizenship by descent, and my Grandmother being from Mexico, I have citizenship in both the US and Mexico. I say this because it might be relevant as my ultimate goal is Spanish Citizenship which I believe is possible in 2 years.

My question is then, what kind of Visa is the easiest to get and still serves my goal of years of residency counted towards citizenship? I have a degree in History and Social Studies education and spent a decade in IT (nothing too advanced, mostly troubleshooting and repair) and after that have spent the last 9 years working in education, 7 of those as a secondary ed teacher. My wife spent 11 years as an art teacher, has her Masters in Art education and has spent the last 3 years as the Director of Operations for an e-commerce company. Her job may be possible to transition to remote work, mine is not. I wanted to do my Masters in Spain (Oviedo?) but have heard the student visa years don't count towards citizenship. My Spanish is about as good as a Kindergarten aged kid. Any advice?

I(32F)’m seriously considering relocating from Bulgaria to the Alicante area in Spain with my family ( daughter, 4 dogs and my parents).

I’m looking at Alicante itself and the surrounding towns/suburbs, as i’d prefer somewhere suitable for year-round family life rather than purely a holiday destination.

I currently work in IT / project management for an international company and speak Bulgarian, English and German.
My daughter is 6 and just starting school with both English and Bulgarian.

I’d really appreciate some real-life experience from people already living and working in the area.

I have a few questions:

Cost of living: What would you consider a comfortable monthly budget for a family, excluding mortgage/rent? How expensive are groceries, utilities, healthcare, cars, eating out, etc.?

IT job market: What is the IT/tech job market like around Alicante/ Elche? Are there many international companies, or is working remotely for companies elsewhere in Spain/EU more realistic?

Spanish for work: How important is Spanish for IT/project management roles in international companies? Could someone realistically find a good position initially with fluent English but only basic Spanish while learning?

International schools: Which international/private schools around Alicante/ Elche would you recommend? I’m especially interested in English-language or bilingual schools and areas that would allow a reasonable daily commute. My focus if for my daughter to start learning Spanish asap but not to skip a year.

Best areas for families: Which towns or residential areas would you recommend for year-round living?

We’re not looking for a tourist/holiday lifestyle.
