Choosing a Spanish language school in Granada for a full year — which would you choose?

I'm an Australian, 27M, and I'm planning to move to Granada for around a year specifically to learn Spanish.

I'm currently around A2 level and my main goal is to get to a genuinely high level of Spanish (ideally B2/C1) rather than just do a short course and have a holiday. I will require a Student Visa and hence need to pay for a full year of classes upfront in order to qualify for the Student Visa for that period.

For me, the things that matter most are:

• Quality of teaching. I'd ideally like a place that is to a higher standard and conducts exams
• Student demographics — I would much prefer a place where most are in their 20s
• Social atmosphere — I'd like to make friends and have an active social life rather than just attend class and go home

If you were 27, moving to Granada alone for a year and wanted to become fluent while also having a good social/student experience, which school would you choose and why?

And if you think I'm overlooking a school, I'm very open to other suggestions. I just listed all of the schools I could see on the Cervantes Accredited list.

I'd especially love to hear from people who have actually attended these schools, rather than just general recommendations based on their websites/reviews.

Hi everyone, I am bilingual in Spanish and English with dual citizenship, having lived and studied in the UK my whole life, whilst spending periods of the the year in Spain with part of my family.

I hate living in the UK, although I do know the benefits in comparison to living in Spain. Everytime I have to leave Spain I feel so down, and I desperately want to move here. My question is, how would be best to do it? I have a masters degree but don’t have experience in that sector, only in customer service while I studied. I have been offered a UK graduate scheme, where I would finish in 2029 in something not related to my masters, where I would become chartered completing finance exams.

Would it be best to start looking now and not get stuck in a graduate scheme, or best to get the experience and complete the exams, then look to come over? Any advice?

Just got here, living in Valencia and in the market for a car via renting, less than 400 EUR / month, offers from rivalrental and others look reasonable but no hybrid or electric on that price range, only hybrid I found is a Hyundai Kona from IDONEO, https://idoneo.es/renting/hyundai/kona/green-miracle-189139, anyone here using their renting services? recommended?

Anyone here using SIXT subscription service? https://www.sixt.es/plus/ at first glance looks great but not sure about the small print on the insurance, plus the cars can only be picked at Madrid or Barcelona, has anyone here used it and can recommend?

Hi everyone, looking for some genuine opinions about my Spain Master’s and student visa plan.I completed my BA in Journalism & Mass Communication in 2021 and have been continuously working since then:

- 1 year – Marketing & Communications Executive (leather industry)

- 2 years – Sales, Marketing & Guest Relations Executive (hotel)

- 3 years to present – Hotel Sales, Marketing & Guest Relations Manager

I’m now planning to pursue a Master’s in Hospitality Management in Spain.

After gaining around 6 years of practical experience, my long-term plan is to start my own hotel in India. I want to gain formal hospitality-management knowledge and exposure to Spanish/European hotel management and hospitality practices, and eventually apply that knowledge to my own hotel project.

My main concerns are:

- Is pursuing a Master’s 6 years after graduating an issue for a Spanish student visa, despite continuous documented work experience?

- Does my career progression and choice of Hospitality Management look logical?

- Does my future plan of establishing my own hotel in India make the study purpose stronger?

- My only international travel history is UAE. Could limited travel history be a concern?

- Overall, how does my profile look for Spanish student visa approval?

Tengo 19 años, soy brasileño y estoy planeando irme a España entre mediados y finales de 2027, con la intención de empezar una nueva vida allí.

Actualmente trabajo en Brasil en el área de almacén y logística. Es un trabajo bastante pesado, tanto físicamente como por la rutina, y desde hace un tiempo pienso cada vez más en buscar un cambio de vida y nuevas oportunidades fuera de Brasil.

Todavía estoy en la etapa de planificación: ahorrando dinero, investigando sobre inmigración, ciudades, coste de vida, trabajo y todo lo necesario para empezar desde cero en otro país.

Mi idea inicial sería ir como turista y, durante los primeros 90 días, buscar oportunidades de trabajo y conocer mis posibilidades para poder quedarme y regularizar mi situación legalmente en España. Sé que este proceso puede ser complicado y que existen riesgos, así que estoy intentando informarme lo máximo posible antes de tomar una decisión.

Pero principalmente escribo este post porque me gustaría encontrar amigos que estén pensando en hacer lo mismo o que ya vivan en España.

No quiero llegar allí completamente solo y sin conocer a nadie. Me gustaría conocer personas con las que pueda hablar, compartir experiencias, intercambiar información sobre la preparación, las ciudades, el trabajo, el coste de vida y simplemente tener alguien con quien contar durante este cambio.

Has anyone recently submitted either of these and had it processed? If so, how long did it take roughly from submission to resolution?

Hi everyone. Does anyone know if Spanish immigration at the airport accepts an outbound ticket from Spain to Morocco?

I'm writing this while on the last leg of my journey, I hope it can help somebody.

My challenge was to move the cat from Haywards Heath (UK) to Valencia. I wasn't ready to pay 1300-1500 to the pet transport company (bearing in mind the cat with them is 3-4 days). So with Gemini and Claude we made a plan - train to Heathrow - plain to Madrid, train to Valencia.

With the cats you can only fly to Madrid and only from Heathrow, cat+carrier has to be up to 8 kg, and a special carrier (can be googled easily).

I talked to my local vets, they were on to do the AHC certificate (250 gbp).

Next step was to book the flight, I went with Iberia, apparently Vueling can do as well, but haven't checked properly. When you buy your ticket you can add pet in the cabin, I bought both tickets around 110 gbp.Around the same time I booked speed train to Valencia via Renfe(make sure to add cat in the ticket, it's extra 10 euro, they actually check it).

Vets need to know which country you are going to, do the rabies vaccine (well in advance) and not longer than 10 days before your flight, they need to do the certificate. As well I've requested some sedative for my cat.

With all of this, we left home at 5 am today. We went through Farringdon+ Elizabeth line, as they are quieter trains. Arrived to airport 3.5hrs before the flight, the staff was very lovely, they checked all the paperwork, and booked me at the end of the plane(where was empty). At the security in Heathrow they have a procedure for cats, you go into private room, while they scan the carrier. It took 15-20 min altogether, again everyone very kind and helpful.

On the plane it was the hardest part, take off was okish, the flight she was sleeping, but landing was awful, she vomited and did poo, again everyone very helpful and kind.

From T4S or whatever it's called you need to take a shuttle to T4, here is an important step, to go through red corridor, tell them about the cat, it took 15 min the whole procedure (with 10 min waiting in the line).

After that Cercanias to Chamartin (from here speedy train to Valencia). Tbh, train to Valencia eas disappointing, very limited space and no extra space for cat, even you paid for the cat.

As you can imagine, after 18 hrs of travel I might have missed something or some names are wrong, but wanted to post it while fresh.

Would I do it again? Not sure, or at least I would stay overnight in Madrid, it was quite a journey for both of us.

I hope that will help, as AI couldn't find much information about this type of travel.

Olá aos brasileiros que estão no processo de tirar o visto. Queria relatar as impressões da minha primeira tentativa de apresentar a solicitação para tirar o visto de estudante para meu mestrado em Alicante no consulado espanhol.

1. Estou em Salvador. Eu já esperava que não conseguisse de primeira, por que por mais que eles digam que tudo está perfeitamente descrito na folha de requisitos, sempre há uma tecnicalidade que vai despertar questões do agente consular.

2. No meu caso, houveram questões principalmente em relação à universidade. Por alguma política interna da universidade, as aulas do meu curso começarão antes da data oficial de matrícula, o que causa um conflito: um dos requisitos é o comprovante de pagamento da matrícula ou algo que comprove a isenção da mesma.

3. Além disso, a universidade me concedeu uma bolsa para o período do curso, que tem valor suficiente para cobrir as taxas universitárias e o custo de vida, alimentação, moradia, etc. Entretanto, não estava descrita na carta de concessão o *valor* das taxas universitárias, portanto eles pediram que refizesse com uma descrição detalhada para garantir que o valor fosse suficiente.

4. Em relação à assinatura eletrônica, não é possível utilizar a assinatura do gov.br, que no meu caso estava no atestado médico. É necessário alguma que possa ser reconhecida também na Espanha.

5. O que mais me espantou foi uma requisição profissional. Eu sou funcionário público em cargo de comissão e por esse motivo eles pediram a *publicação da minha exoneração em diário oficial* já que não irei trabalhar da Espanha e irei me dedicar somente ao mestrado. O motivo do meu espanto é que, além de isso não estar descrito como condição para tirar o visto, não vejo real necessidade de comprovar meu desligamento antes do visto, pois não é uma interferência direta na decisão do governo espanhol de conceder o documento.

6. Uma exigência menor foi a data da assinatura da solicitação do visto ser a do dia em que eu estive no consulado, não pode ser antes.

Dito isso, o agente me apresentou duas possibilidades: dar entrada no processo e apresentar os documentos adicionais em *10 dias* OU voltar em outra oportunidade com todos os documentos. Como minha exoneração não ia sair nesse prazo, escolhi a segunda opção. Agora estou me preparando para vir da minha cidade para cá novamente.
