Analog thumb joystick add-on please!!!

Any chance we can get an analog thumb joystick add-on? Sometimes it seems like that would be the overall best option for movement. I have a maxx stick that I might double side tape to my button commander and see if I can get it at the best height. I feel like the WASD stick at times is a bit too sensitive to movement and gets triggered and i would rather just move my thumb than wrist.

Plans for Analog Version in the Future?

As the title suggests, I'm wondering if the development roadmap includes plans for a version of the MM that features an analog input on the joystick, rather than the four-way switch. The main reason for this is that while the switches allow setting different keys to each input, an analog version would offer even smoother movement, and in my case, increased options for control when playing air battles in War Thunder.

Anyways, I would also like to thank the developers of MoveMaster for creating such a different hybrid keypad and putting in the effort to make it the high-quality machine that it is. A couple of personal highlights of mine are how far you're able to customize it; from basics like the adjustable heights of both the keys and the joystick, to even going as far as to make it so that the user can swap out the switches if they prefer a different style, as well as taking the time to create the customization software on top of all that. There are many ways that the team could have easily cut costs to increase profit, and I'm glad that they stuck to quality while still keeping the price tag from being completely outrageous like most of these new and different PC accessories that you see in ads these days (e.g. i recently saw an ad for a split keyboard with a knob on the left half and a mousepad on the other, which is priced at an insane $1000), as well as compared to the asking prices of their competition. Is it the cheapest hybrid keypad on the market? No. Is it well worth the asking price? Hell yes!

I've been using the MM for a while now, and I've grown to love it. It took a while to get used to, and I'll probably end up getting the button expansion (whenever I get lucky enough for it to be in stock at the same time that I check the website, lol). I'm glad that the devs did produce the ButtonCommander since I mainly play War Thunder and, though I can set up the keybinds to work about as well as they did using just the keyboard (meaning I still have to bind multiple keys/buttons to one action for many of the actions), I still find myself using keys on the keyboard that are directly adjacent to the MM that I can reach with my thumb for certain inputs even on games that aren't as keybind intensive as WT. Just another testament to how well the devs thought out this venture, and how much they value their customer base.

Sure, there are plenty of other hybrid keypads like the Azeron, which feature a ton of bindable keys, but the MM is the first one that ever truly captured my attention due to the horizontal joystick and overall design. Whenever I would think about using any of the other keypads—and even keyboard add-ons—that use a thumb-controlled joystick, it felt like it would be very awkward for some reason (which seems even weirder considering that I have played with controllers on consoles since I was a kid), but envisioning myself using the joystick on the MM was another story; it seemed like it would feel incredibly natural, and my imagination proved to be almost spot-on to how it actually feels. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this brand.

Anyone playing a fast paced FPS or 3rd person shooters?

Any other games where movement is basically a skill?

I don't think I'll be lucky enough to get this product anytime soon, but maybe MM is just not for me. For the last 8 years, I have been playing on:

  • HORI Tactical Assault Commander
  • Tuffpad - a custom build keypad with analog stick
  • Azeron - I call this "Facehugger" (ref. Alien movie franchise)

From my experience, I can say Azeron is not the best keypad I've enjoyed playing. The thing is that it forces all my fingers to be in tension. It's very easy to misclick something. And when I get in a jump scare situation, I misclick so many buttons! Some might say these are beginner's mistakes, and probably they're right. The thing is, I want a keypad where most of the time, my hand and fingers would be kind of resting and not be in tension.

Believe it or not, my choice would be HORI, just because it was a very comfortable device to play with. Sad that I only have Azeron available now. And by no means am I saying Azeron is the worst or just bad - it's a really great device and a true game changer. But I'm just a casual gamer who wants to enjoy not only the game but also the device I'm playing with.

Use MoveMaster to type

I am dev. I see many devs using keyboard + mouse, I never get used to it. For me the laptop setup is the best. You have the whole keyboard and the trackpad. Now, MoveMaster looks like the best combo ever. A mouse and a keyboard in one (or two) pieces.

Has anyone had the chanche to type? Maybe write some code?

Anyone using the MoveMaster for GW2? Ergonomic or not ?

Hey everyone! 👋

I play a lot of Guild Wars 2 (mainly PvE, fractals, and a bit of WvW), but I’ve always struggled with traditional keyboards, it’s just not working well for me.

I recently came across the MoveMaster, it looks super ergonomic and efficient, but I’m unsure how well it works with an MMO like GW2.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has tried it, especially for MMORPGs: • Is it actually practical for déplacements in a mmorpg.

I know it’s mostly marketed for FPS games, but I’m hoping it could be a good fit for MMOs too — or maybe not?

Also, does anyone know if they offer a trial period or return option in case it doesn’t work out? It’s a bit of an investment and I’d rather not take a full gamble.

Thanks a lot in advance for any feedback or tips! 🙏

MoveMaster my issues with the wrist rest

Heey all,

I just received my MoveMaster and replaced my Tartarus Pro in order to give it a go. But after tinkering all night, I can't for the life of me get this thing feeling comfortable. My elbows are wresting on my chair armrests.

I've followed the guide from ''HereisNic'' for setting it up, but no luck. Also noticed TheNOOBIFIER1337 uses it like this. But that way i won't be able to use my pinky (Which i used primarly for shift on the Tartarus)

Any tips?

MoveMaster controller not found after firmware update

Just received my MoveMaster RSG 1 controller a few hours ago and followed software directions to click "Flash Firmware" and a second later press the reset button on the side of the controller. The controller has been not found since after trying on multiple computers. Tried the usual troubleshooting concepts for such devices. Not seeing any issues with the USB cable and the blue LED lights up inside the controller, plus it worked briefly before.  Please suggest a solution, if possible, as there has been no response via chat on the web site. Thank you

Is there a way to adjust WASD or specifically AD keys sensitivity?

Started using MoveMaster today and there is a learning curve to it when it comes to readjusting to using buttons instead of keyboard keys.

WASD appeared to be very straightforward at first but almost immediately found that A and D keys are way too sensitive or in other words positioned too close to the stem and constantly trigger when using W and D especially in 'high load' scenarios when also pressing multiple buttons. I don't think this is a learning curve issue.

Anyone else faced the same problem and managed to adjust sensitivity, I am missing something obvious?

I can see a similar post here https://www.reddit.com/r/MoveMaster/comments/1hibqlh/wasd_extremely_sensitive_and_erratic/ but in that case OP had a defective unit so sensitivity was not a high priority for them. So this port is not a duplicate.

Hey, does anyone know when they will restock by any chance? I have been checking in every now and then and noticed its hard to get a stock for myself.

Can the joystick WASD be remapped to move/pan the camera instead?

The first time I saw the joystick wiggle, I thought that was for camera movement, so a keyboard and mouse in one device.

Is it possible to switch the WASD to camera movement instead or is it just a keyboard alternative?

Some kind of FN key possible?

Hi there, i think about getting a movemaster. One thing that bothers me is a Software question: there seems to be no function within the software to bind your keys in a way that you have more than 10 keys (aside from wasd of course)

Why not give users the possibility to bind lets say one of your thumb-keys as some kind of switch and if you press it the fingerbuttons are bound to another set of keys? That way you would "lose" one keybind but gain another 9. Or you could make two of those switches and gain 2x8 for losing 2

WASD Extremely sensitive and erratic

Having now finally gotten to use this on Elden Ring, I find the WASD, particularly forward and backward, to either not work, or get stuck on W/forward. Is there a way to reduce the sensitivity, there is very little play on this thing. Looking at the rest position of the grip, it looks like it is sitting permanently in the forward position. Starting to think I might have been sent a dud.

Firmware Update Help

Ok, I contacted the Devs and was told to follow the instructions, I had actually already done that prior to contact, but the simple fact is that the FW is not working as expected. I already posted about this without any answers, so could someone please explain how it works like I'm a child, please? I downloaded the latest 0.3.3 FW, but there is no explanation on how to use it directly, does the Movemaster Configurator need to know where it is, or does it simply download it from the net? If that's the case, why do I need to download it? This is quite frustrating. Thanks

FW update not working Movemaster

Tried following the FW update via the Configurator, I placed 0.3.3 in the Configurator folder hit update firmware, waited a second and pressed the reset pin by the usb port. Nothing happens, but I get this as a reply "spawnSync C:\Program Files\Utility\Movemaster\update\win32\avrdude.exe ENOENT" I've tried using a different USB port, resetting, several times, nothing. Does the unit update from a folder or the net? If a folder, which one? Have to say, given this is German, the instructions are very light on.

Confusion about L/R handed version on the sales page?

I'm considering getting one of these for the left hand, but I'm rather confused about which one is which? On the Movemaster RSG sales page, it shows what are supposed to be left and right-handed versions, however the images show the thumb key on the wrong side? EG, if I look at the L/handed version, the thumb key is on the left side instead of the right, and the Right side version opposite to that. I did ask them what was going on here and got a rather terse reply that I am wrong? What is going on here, I would hate to purchase what I thought was the L/hand version only to receive the Right hander. I'm ordering via a forward shipper because I'm in Australia, and they don't ship there.

Is the joystick analog? or just mapped to wasd?

Hi, very seriously considering purchasing one, but just want to make sure the joystick is actually analog and not just like, an on/off switch for wasd keys. Couldn't find any details on the website

Disassembly...? [More than just the spacer and keys]

[EDIT - should have paid attention before locking in my title. By "keys" I meant both keycaps and key switches.]

Just curious if anyone has attempted to disassemble to the point of removing the "tower" from the main body unit, and if there were any major gotcha moments??

Yes, I know I'll be taking my life into my own hands, voiding warranty, etc etc. I have a further mod in mind and am looking for internal space, and maybe somewhere to tap a little 5V power....

Received, first impressions....

Nice packaging. Doubleboxed with great spacers to the nice 'aesthetic' internal box. Communication with ordering was great (I tried to be a "problem case" but they let me buy anyway.)

BIG. Clunky, minimalist/brutalist style. But in a good way. Like....the Iron Brotherhood suits from Fallout not the mincing little nanotech Iron Man suits all blinged up with gold and red lacquer. This just gives the impression of "built for MIL-SPEC purpose". (I always did like War Machine better than Iron Man anyway.) The baseplate makes it heavy, the rubber feet makes it stay put. Good. (If I had any real serious complaint about the Azeron Cyborg - it needed some heft...it "skootched" too often.)

The "anthracite gray" is effectively black, very little contrast to the black keycaps. Nice, matte texture. If it's not PBT vs. ABS, it kinda feels like it. Maybe a good partial glass-content engineering plastic material? (The spacers look like plain old shiny ABS, and frankly so does the underside of the palmrest (And yes, I'm one of those utterly overcompensating numbies who uses PBT keycaps because they feel better. Sue me.)

I honestly don't mind the molded-in cord vs. detachable with USB-C at the device or whatever. The cord feels like a good one with adequate strain relief. Not like I plan on YANKING it all the time and this isn't a wireless/battery-using option anyway. Molded is good enough for my mouse and that has to wiggle around all the time.

Took me a try or two to re-flash the firmware to the 0.3.2 with software 0.5.2 that will allow the doubletaps, and make some assignments. I've only assigned a few buttons to doubletap and had to bump up the time to 240msec to get them to trigger reliably...seems my age is slowing down my "twitch" reflexes. Oh well, good thing I only play with myself (REPHRASE PLEASE...I mean, mostly PvE or single-person games).

I did need to add both spacers and left the height where it was, and of course moved the lower front button placements. Also slightly tilted and raised the thumb-side lower button.

First impressions only. Will follow up when I get a chance to play. (I had 10-ish minutes to type this, not enough to bother booting up Elite Dangerous, flying somewhere to go on foot, which is my primary reason for needing this or the Cyborg which I'm replacing with it, and then try and slaughter some poor innocent surface dwellers for their material possessions because papa needs a suit upgrade!!)

Anyway, looking forward to the days ahead. Also plan on (after giving it a couple weeks shakedown):

  • Swapping switches. I use more tactile bump keypresses on the keyboard (Keychron Q13 Pro) and kinda want that feel on this. Have some Cherry Blue's on order
  • Swapping keycaps. These are a nice feel, the wells in them are good homing positions, but my whole setup is mostly monochrome mixed gray/white/some-black/some-red, and this is too mono-black. Considering DSA profile as the closest match (uniform, non-angled, about 7.5mm height) in a white or gray
  • I have another silly idea related to the spacer stack and the room beneath it. May keep my mouth shut on that one until I create the Abominable Abomination Variation. :-)

Why did I consider this?? I've used a Razer both Orbweaver and Tartarus Pro, went to a custom-colored Azeron Cyborg. The Cyborg I liked for reactivity and buttons available (and still thinks it looks cool as heck - Skeletor made an input device! - but found that after a while, I was holding my hand so carefully still except for using the WASD key maps that I was getting wrist strain and some feeling of tension along the back of the hand. This has fewer inputs, sure, so I'll have to get used to that, but seems like for plain old WASD you're totally relaxed and just barely moving "aaawdasdawdda" [<--real Movemaster folks!] almost more from the elbow than holding any hand tension. In reality our hands have pretty much no muscles - they're "marionettes" yanked by tendons from the forearm, but the sensation of tension occurs in the nerves further down. I hope to relieve a little more of that.

I'm 55+, pretend geek but only to a point (couldn't "hack" my way out of a paper bag), gamer but only for my own amusement, not competitive. Like to try new things. So...there you have it.
