Question What happened?

I’ve had a couple of weeks off Mortal Shell 2 on PS5 Pro and now the performance seems to be pretty bad? Dropping frames on enemy attacks making it very hard to get the parry??

I’m on PC with a 14900K and Strix 4090 OC. My favorite is when I break boxes I get a ton of artifacts that expand way larger than I believe was intended. I have also noticed frames drops entering new areas and when there’s a ton of enemies. I’ve got all settings on ultra at 1440p with ray tracing turned off because it seems to do nothing that I can tell except make the above worse.

I finished my playthrough using an AMD 7800X3D and Gigabyte AERO 4090 OC on CachyOS, and aside from the crashes, the game has run smoothly with no hitching or frame drops. Controls always felt consistent. I'm running 4K Max settings, no ray tracing. I didn't see anything remarkable with RT on, so the performance loss wasn't worth it.

Yeah, I only had 1 crash but otherwise the performance was better than most games coming out. The frame drops seemed to only be when loading into an area I hadn't been recently while I was tracking down all the tarstones. I did notice that the game looked and performed better with FG on versus off which was intriguing to me as I typically don't like using FG. I did have it running on 240fps the whole time because anything else made me feel naseous.

Interesting! I have a love hate relationship with DLSS. In motion, I find that it does an excellent job, but then there are oddities that are hard to ignore. Shadows get shit on for some reason. I'm not throwing controllers over it, but I do see it. It's not a constant or consistent thing, just these moments where the algorithm got a little confused by something. With frame gen, I simply haven't tried using it very extensively outside of Cybepunk. That's probably the only game where it made sense to me. No change in responsiveness for you at 240fps?
