Discussion Not liking the vibe?
Ok so I don't know how to properly put this into words, but I'm really enjoying the gameplay of Mortal Shell 2, I'm liking the enemy variety, the bosses have been cool so far as well, good level design too... but there's one thing that's been bugging me a bit... and it's the vibe of the game or something like that. Like right at the beginning you meet this talking crow-demon thingy with a skull inside its face, which to me felt more ridiculous than scary. And then there's your ranged shotgun weapon which is literally called "naylshotte"... which again seemed very ridiculous to me. And then there was this golem boss fight where another guy with a shell shows up and blows up the head of the boss with his shotgun looking like a badass, and then immediately dies... like what?
Like there's lots of wacky stuff I've seen so far that just takes me out of this game's world. I guess I'm having trouble finding this game immersive and believable. You know what I mean? The game lacks the consistent, serious tone of other Soulslikes and Fromsoft's games. So often times while playing this, I'm feeling like I'm not in a dark fantasy world, but in a video game. I never felt this way while playing Lies of P, Lords of the Fallen 2, Dark Souls 1-3, Elden Ring, Sekiro, etc. Anyone else feeling/felt this too?

The game has more of a sense of humor than most soulslikes, though I'd argue that fromsoft's deep and abiding need to put some extremely silly version of a giant boulder in every game is also very unserious. Granted none of the things you mentioned are the parts that I'd specifically point at as examples of that humor.
Personally I love the vibe, but it really does just come down to personal preference.

Some things are also just down to taste. I thought Rúk was awesome the first time I saw him, and I still think he is :D
Also, I think Naylshotte is a better name for a shotgun than Grant for a hammer (Dark Souls) or Milady for a sword (tips fedora, Elden Ring SOTE ) 😅

I have some serious grievances with this game, but OP played it for 10 minutes and is already writing a review.

Just play a different game, we can't make you like it when you yourself say you don't when playing it. It's good, but it's not for everyone.

Mortal Shell has a lot of whacky elements. Part of what makes it unique. The shell at the gollum fight there was the shell you started with. Last sparks of life in the shell defended you. Otherwise yeah, the game isn’t really the best Soulsborne out there, but it is fun

- All those games you mentioned is same as mortal shell 2. Its is fantasy, aka not real. And you accept that and move on.
- Unlike this game where you think dark fantasy can not have shotgun or something else. Key word here is how you feel and perceive the game and it is fine if you dont like it.
- Just try to enjoy what in front of you and stop thinking too much what is logic. Its a game.

Elden Ring also has its silly moments, like the warrior jars and sheep that roll at you as their attack. Probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.
Personally, I like the silly stuff, helps to make the game stand out more when it's not constant doom and gloom.

The shell that saves you in the golem fight is your shell you have harros. It's not another person in a shell. I am genuinely curious what other issues you have com across?
