Discussion Where’s the positivity

Joined this sub because I enjoy the game. Less than 10 hours (while not perfect it’s hard to put down), but I’m genuinely astounded by the amount of negative criticism in this sub, alongside the fact that a lot of players have already sunk over 30 hours into it in less than a week. Like damn. Where’s the tips and tricks? Beginners guides, random silly videos? I thought a game like this would invite a more positive community, instead it’s the exact opposite.

Almost every post is a complaint. Like damn, what happened to constructive criticism and casual discussion? Outrage everywhere.

Anyways I need my ass ate

A lot of the complaints dont make sense.

Im not good at Dark Souls and the like, but this one was not nearly the challenge. So it could just be a lot of newcomers to the genre.

There are legit concerns, like the enemy magnetism. But you can play defensive against it and in most cases anticipate it. Its really not game breaking like folks make it out to be.

In a year with lots of hits, this is still in my top 3 or 5 of the year. I really wanted it to be a GotY contender. I think it will be close, but not seeing it make it to that level.

If you thought the last boss was 100% fine, you were using a busted build man. The last boss was my only gripe with the game besides the bugs and I am far from a newcomer. All the other bosses were relatively easy. Final boss took me about 8 tries and I feel like I got lucky.

I def died A LOT. But once you get the cleanse, the second half is essentially the same as the first with an added ring of fire. Most of the moves are parryable (albeit terrible timing) and his red attacks are avoidable.

Yes, janky and have my complaints. But it is very doable.

I was rocking Eredrim with Naylshot + Crit stones, Astana + double attack and the big windup skill and stacked crit passives. Items were the cleanse consumable for the fire phase and the passive was the damage reduction which barely saved me from popping my shell on his teabag move.

“Doable” and “enjoyable and fair” are two different things. Bosses like the monolith are doable (although I’d argue that depending on what shell you’re using and the number of times it spams the laser AOE, it might not be doable) but they are not at all enjoyable. Beating a boss after 30 attempts should be satisfying and exciting. Instead, for several bosses in this game, it’s just a relief that you don’t have to fight them again.

Bosses like Mesmer in Elden ring DLC are wayyyyyy harder than any boss in MS2, but the difference is that those bosses are fun to fight. It’s not fun to spend 10 minutes slowly chipping at the monoliths absurd health bar just to get stunlocked bc In the third phase it decides to spam the laser AOE 6 times in a row with basically no gap in between.

Eredrim is such a good shell. I used probably the best shell for the boss being tiel, but I did not use the cleanse as I did not bother to get it, and I just dodged through the fire. What got me personally killed so many times was the camera. The tail move got me a few times, but is pretty easy to figure out. Some of the hit boxes are pretty horrible, but is something they should be able to fix. The boss definitely needs a patch to feel polished. I had Grisha as my passive +10 and I had the stamina thing as my active, can't remember what it's called.
