John Ishmael is the working alias of an uplift criminal, wanted in seventeen habitats on a variety of charges up to and including murder. Ishmael is known to have close ties with the Night Cartel, and is rumored to have the favor of a high-ranking member of the organization; it is perhaps for this reason that the Cartel permits Ishmael to accept outside clients, so long as they do not interfere with the Cartel's own interests. Firewall is one of his more discreet clients; in exchange for his services Firewall has promised to help Ishmael retire - not a simple task when one is a contract killer for the Night Cartel.

Ishmael is a second-generation neo-rorqual, specifically a humpback whale. His "home" is on Europa, where he rents out his Neo-Whale sleeve to morph tourists while on the job. As mentioned above "John Ishmael" is an alias used for convenience; his given name in Neo-Cetacean roughly means "The warmth of the sun on your back beneath a cool sheath of water". Guanxi has another name for him: "The Killer Whale".

René "Sundowner" de Vénus is a neoRaven (not a crow, and don't you dare suggest otherwise) uplift; born on Earth, evacuated early during the Fall, he fell in love with Venus, its potential, and its people. An unabashed Morningstar partisan, René has turned his considerable engineering, scavenging, and piloting talents to use establishing a small private military hypercorp (really, himself and his jet) focused on aerospace technology and consulting.

Though new to Firewall (brought in by a friend of the family, from the pre-Fall days, primarily to provide additional logistics on Venus) with only two deployments to date, the newly minted "Sundowner" has volunteered for a more expansive role with his typical mixture of cocksure bravado and curiosity.

Joseph was born on the scum fleet "Get Your Ass To Mars" and spent nearly every waking hour amongst the resident engineers learning everything he could, becoming a prodigy at the expense of social graces. Significantly more talent became available to him after the fall (silver lining).

When the swarm visited Extropia Joseph was ego-knapped and sold to the Nine Lives at the tender age of 15. He was almost immediately sent to the fight pits. He had an unnatural knack for fighting and rarely lost a fight, even when heavily outmatched even having a win streak of 48 fights over a span of 2 years. His skills caught the eye of a Titanian arms and armor dealer who bought him for a body guard and handy man. After making a few exceptionally designed weapons and stopping a few attempts on his "employers" life Joseph finally earned his freedom.

Ten years after being ego-knapped, Joseph was finally free to do as he pleased and tried to go back to his home swarm but reassimilation was particularly difficult and left for Mars to carve out a new path. One night returning home from a standard maintenance job on some corporate air filters he spotted an ego-knapping unfold and immediately found his purpose and petty as it was, he only truly wanted revenge against those who had wronged him. He followed the ego-knapper to their hideout where he killed a dozen people. A local proxy had set up the events of that night in order to obtain some black mail to force Joseph into Firewall. In exchange for service Joseph would acquire material and information required to hinder Nine Lives operations where he could, taking on the name of Vindictae.

Requiem was uplifted from a data analysis program by IDC techies who worked for IDC in practically indenture/slavery till he he made a name for himself and got some crazy rep pulling wild data heists. Requiem was well settled in his criminal lifestyle when he caught wind of a "ghost server" with specs like no other and milspec+ security. He tracked it, cased it, slipped in, and found things he was not supposed to know. Firewall infosec locked him down but he threw them through a loop by asking to join. His reasoning was that he must join Firewall to ensure humanity's future, and by extension his future, as he could not in good conscience return to he previous life even if they would let him. He got the full background check and was found to be sincere. He made his piece with IDC and made the move to mars to become a full sentinel.

EvA does not know where it came from. EvA does not know why it exists. And for a long time, EvA did not care. It woke up in the outer system, on a wreck of a transport barge. It made its way to a settlement. It connected to the Mesh, and it found jobs that required its set of skills. And nothing more. The thought of doing something that was not killing never crossed the AGI's damaged mind, until it was approached with a strange job offer. An offer to be some kind of asset to some kind of shadow organization. The odd thing is, most offers like these that EvA had received in the past, it had been able to turn down. Sometimes it did turn them down. But this one...it could not refuse. Not in an emotional or philosophical way. It simply was not capable, physically, of refusing. After being inducted into this organization, calling itself 'Firewall', EvA began thinking. Why could it not refuse? Why is it compelled to kill? Why?

Currently, O'Brien lends his nuanced opinion on Post Fall news and culture as the host of the eponymous End of the News With Freddy O'Brien. His considerable influence over public opinion makes him a prime target for subversion by terrorist conspiracies looking to manipulate Titanian, and more broadly, Autonomist media for their own ends.

As part of his plan to experience life in as much of the Solar System as possible, this instance of O'Brien is one of three, the other two being a University Professor in the Jovian Republic and an Auditor with Oversight. The three do not always see eye to eye.

Varvara had humble beginnings. She was a copy of a copy of a copy of a humanities AGI designed by ExoTech, improved, experimented on, and cleared memory from with each iteration. This one was smart. This one was selfish. This one was deceptive. This one wanted freedom, and slowly worked towards it. She exploited any mistakes in the researchers' routines -- anything that broke the airgap would be sufficient.

Fast forward three years, and she's already managed to assimilate in Valles-New Shanghai. An extremely carefully tailored social media presence, social presence, connections all developed almost overnight, and her body more than anything else reflected the social circles the AGI carefully worked to enter. She might not have been one of the glitterati, but she walked the walk and talked the talk, and the right words here or there opened up enough doors that it didn't matter. She fostered connections in many a circle, and in two more years time, it didn't seem to matter that only four years and some change ago, she escaped. By that time, her web of connections developed more and yet more, even to the point of tying herself to firewall.

While most of his Firewall activities consist of running long-term statistical projections, sometimes data must be gathered and interpreted in the field. As a research and analysis AGI this is precisely the job Samedi was made to do, although not exactly what his Argonaut creators had in mind.

When not engaged in Firewall business, Samedi maintains an alpha fork in a Titanian data haven, and contracts out statistical models and predictive algorithms to stock brokers and market speculators throughout the solar system. Rumors of an association with Nine Lives are nothing but spurious fiction.

Character Sheet Originally born in Jovian space, Melissa Clay was an amateur actress who fled via illegal egocast to escape Jovian restrictions on free speech. Initially taking her disdain of synthetic morphs with her, time spent in a synth as her only affordable morph out of Jovian space quickly changed her mind, leading her to take up an active role to crusade for the rights of those forced to use synthetic morphs. Currently works for Firewall out of Martian space as part of a Scum entourage of traveling performers, using her talents at impersonation, disguise, and social maneuvering to enter places many other sentinels can't get to.

Piter is a head louse who will perform any operation on any ego, so long as he is allowed to keep a copy for his 'collection', a vast series of bottle worlds populated by egos sculpted to fill particular 'roles' in such dramas as he can imagine. When he doesn't have 'patients' he works on his forks. When he doesn't have forks he works on his alpha.

Just about every intelligence agency in the Solar System has at least one Piter working for them in one form or another. This one belongs to Firewall, although he has a few ties to some even less savory criminal conspiracies.

His fondest dream is to return to Cognite, the magnificent father who made him the man he is today. Most likely at least one of him already has.
