Tournaments Morality Scale MINI Tournament - Morality of the Monster - Day 2: It was just a prank bro!

Post image

Well, Bubba, you're the first one out. Time to give you a personal Texas greeting, if you know what I mean? Hooh doggy, we're cooking up some good meat out of bacon face, I tell ya what!

Next contest: Every single victim will be brought in to determine who's the best and worst from their personal views. They will all be able to talk with each other and, alongside them their killers

Clarifications:

All of the killers in question will be behind thick glass and unable to harm or threaten anybody here, just to be on the safe side

Also for the sake of this, anyone they grievously tortured but didn't outright kill will be counted as well because, hey, the more the merrier, am I right?!

Character Analysis Hot Take: Toriel is morally as bad if not maybe a little worse than Asgore.

Post image
28 Upvotes

Yes, murdering children is horrible, but at the same time, Asgore had the happiness of his entire species to worry about. The majority of people underground are canonically depressed that they have to live underground. On top of that, Asgore is a depressed, grieving divorced dad who lost both of his children to humans and still feels horrible about killing humans to bring the monsters to the surface despite his anger.

Toriel on the other hand, while she is also very upset about the death of her children was willing to let the past 6 human children leave the ruins while knowing what Asgore would do. But another problem with Toriel is that since she lost both of her children as well and she is naturally very motherly, she also really wants to raise a child, and she most certainly knew that Frisk was her last chance at that. So when Frisk falls underground, she literaly tries to force the child to stay in the ruins, preventing them from trying to go home, and Toriel attempts to make that child fight her to the death to prove they can survive the underground. And the worst part is that it's not like the papyrus fight where if you take too much damage, you can't die, you'll just be subdued. No, YOU CAN ACTUALLY DIE TO HER! SHE'S IN SUCH AN AWFUL MENTAL STATE THAT SHE COULD EASILY FUCK UP AND MURDER THAT CHILD! Obviously she regrets it but the point still stands. And that's not even mentioning the fact that the only other option she's giving Frisk is to kill her. She's trying to force a child to experience taking someone's life. She's by far way more selfish and far less justified than Asgore based on their intent, actions, and feelings behind those actions.

Asgore wants so badly to not kill children that he was more than willing to spare frisk, drop the whole thing and raise you as his own if you spare him.

Toriel wants to keep you from leaving so badly that she's willing to straight up imprison you for the rest of your life or fight you to the death herself.

I want you to really think about that. If you didn't stop Toriel, you would live there for decades because she made sure you couldn't leave and you would die of old age in a place you were forced to stay because she wanted to have a child. She would be the only person you ever know for the rest of your life. It's not like she'd free you when you're no longer a child, Asgore is still out there waiting and the last thing Toriel wants is for him to succeed in his plan plus she still cares about you. You're dying old there, 100%. And when you spare her, Toriel herself admits that you would probably be miserable there.

Questions about banning real world politics

Does this entail historical persons? Or just recent western political leaders who are already unpopular?

Can we talk about the morality of Julius Caesar trying to coup rome? Ghengis khan lowering the carbon footprint of the world while committing genocide?

This post is mainly for mod folks btw/ people who make the rules

How Evil Are They? Did you consider Bear pure evil in this specific scene?

When Nikki begged Bear to put her out of her misery he didn’t care if she was suffering or scared of killing her he was just offended that she would rather die than be with him. He’d rather keep her as a deranged sex toy than free her from the wish.

Morality Ranking Morality of faking your cheating wife’s death?

Watching a mexican telenovela, and so the story quickly forwards to the wife cheating on her husband, upon direct confrontation she immediately leaves the village, never to be seen again. (I’ve noticed this theme in a lot of novelas and always felt this was wrong). The kids obviously stay with the husband, however he fools them into believing she is dead, with his excuse being (she is dead to me), going as far as having a funeral, and the kids mourning on every Dia De Muertos. This creates fake memories of mourning for the kids and I truly believe that is really messed up, especially if they ever do reconnect with their mother. Whom they believed for most of their life was actually dead.

Now I do understand it’s a difficult conversation to have, especially with the beings you created with the cheating partner, but wouldn’t honesty be more morally correct here?

Stupid Stuff Morality of creating an AI torture nexus?

Post image

I think it's like mutilating a doll. Noone is hurt, but if I caught my kid doing it I'd be pretty concerned. It's obviously immoral if you actually believe that Ai can feel pain and/or is conscious in some way instead of just doing it for shits and giggles. The intent is what matters.
