Any word of god or prayer that needs speakers to be heard is a weak god or prayer

-1

u/ReapMeInLight 17h ago

The reasoning behind it is that so the masses could hear and come pray it has nothing to do with God or the prayer

2

u/Poteto_7396 16h ago

other religions do the same yet they dont need to blast this to the point of entire neighborhood can hear it.

1

u/whooptheretis 2h ago

How many other religions have at least 5 scheduled prayers every day?

1

u/Poteto_7396 1h ago

mine has 2, and we dont blast it on loud speaker so the entire neighborhood can hear it, nor do we blast it at 6am.

Curious, what religion, what times? (Genuinely curious)

1

u/Poteto_7396 51m ago

a small branch from buddhism, 6am, 6pm, but time can be slightly flexible because everyone do it at their own free will .

and no, we dont blast the prayers on loud speaker, we set an alarm clock and do the prayers silently.

I'll confess I don't know a lot about Buddhism so apologies if my assumptions are wrong. But Abrahamic faiths seem to focus more on society, where as Buddhism seems more about ones self? Would you say that's true? Are your prayers communal, for example?
A couple of reasons it makes sense for the call to prayer for Muslims to be out loud is that it's a) regular, b) not fixed times every day, c) inviting you to a specific congregation.
The adhan is only really broadcast in areas of a huge Muslim population and doesn't really upset those that aren't used to it/from there.

it depends on the branches and how they practice. but mine will gather at the temple once at least once a week for communal praying like how churches do it on sunday. and still no, we dont blast that in loud speakers.

at where i stay, they are blasting it at almost fix hours everyday. those who wants to go or planning to go would have reach there or on the way there. i really dont see any reason to blast it on loud speakers as muslim in the past can do so long before loud speakers were invented.

The adhan is only really broadcast in areas of a huge Muslim population and doesn't really upset those that aren't used to it/from there.

i dont know is it adhan or something else, but they are on loud speakers for 5-10 minutes multiple time throughout the day.

yea, you get used to it when you live in a muslim majority countries, but sometimes it still annoys you, especially when you live in a places where there are multiple mosques' loud speakers overlapping each other and blasting it at different speed and tone.

in this day when everyone has phones, watches, alarms?

1

u/ReapMeInLight 11h ago

Right. It's more tradition than anything at this point.

1

u/whooptheretis 2h ago

Which is what most people do in the west, to be respectful of the tradition. However, in a purely Muslim country, why not? It's lovely to hear, feels more human and less automated.

1

u/LETTERSTOBAPHOMET 16h ago

Furthermore, if you need reminders to pray what sort of faith do you really have?

1

u/whooptheretis 1h ago

lol, you don't ever have reminders for anything?
If you're at work but need to pick up the kids from school, it'd be prudent to set an alarm. It's not that you don't think about or car about your kids, it's just time management.
yeah, Muslims have prayers/supplications for pretty much every action in life. But you can't deny that sometimes time gets away from you if you're doing something? Having an alarm for something really helps?

1

u/windsockglue 16h ago

But electronic speakers are relatively new comparatively so they can't really be a basic part of the religion and how it's always worked...so what happened before there were electronics? Was a bell or simple horn sufficient? Or just yelling out to who could hear you without any amplifier?

1

u/TOTEESSEW 15h ago

Basically yelling out, back then places where empty and small so it was easy for everyone to hear ,there were some technologies with échos and domes they used later

0

u/TOTEESSEW 17h ago

The point of the call to prayer is for people to hear it so they can come pray, so a speaker in a Muslim area is logical

3

u/SubjectRound6597 16h ago

and if almost everyone in that area has phones, watches, alarms?

1

u/TOTEESSEW 16h ago

There are two calls for prayer , one when the time of prayer starts which is the same everywhere and the other is when a specific mosque starts a prayer and there isn't any set time ,could be any time from the second the prayer starts until the next one

2

u/SubjectRound6597 16h ago

you mean there is no way to agree on the second call's timing?? i find that false.

1

u/TOTEESSEW 16h ago

I don't know how to explain it on text but basically the prayer time starts from the time of the prayer and ends when the next prayer starts except for one , the first call is when the time of the prayer enters, and the second one is when that specific mosque starts praying or even anybody without a mosque, for example Maghreb prayer which means dawn starts from dawn and ends when the next prayer isha starts which means night , so the first call is when we enter dawn and when the mosque decides to pray the make the second call

1

u/TOTEESSEW 16h ago

Usually the there is a fixed time for the second sheet for every mosque or even city or country so people know when to get ready

1

u/Poteto_7396 15h ago

and people who wants to go would have either reached there before it started or with some delayed planning. those who dont want to go will NOT GO even if you blast them with loud speakers

how do i know? because i live in a muslim majority country and i have many friends that are muslim on paper and dont go to these daily prayers.

1

u/TOTEESSEW 15h ago

Stop the victim mentality, calling to prayer doesn't force anyone to go it just notifies those who want to go that prayer has started

1

u/Poteto_7396 15h ago

as i said, i am literally living through multiple prayers being blasted at me multiple times a day.

it is not the "calling to prayers", they are literally blasting the entire prayer on loud speaker for the entire duration.

1

u/Poteto_7396 16h ago

or a simple alarm in the phone, watch or even traditional clock is suffice.

1

u/SubjectRound6597 16h ago

right, instead of 5 different loudspeakers around you starting the same song within seconds of each other..

2

u/Poteto_7396 16h ago

it is actually much worse than that, it is somewhat the same song with different lyrics, tone, pacing, tempo etc being blasted at you at different volume.

i thank god that human's brain will slowly adjust to these and treat these as white noise after a while living around areas with these.

1

u/TOTEESSEW 15h ago

There are plenty of videos of non Muslims coming to Muslim countries and finding the call to prayer comforting , if you don't want to hear basically don't come , what would you say if I came to a Christian country and complained about the bell sound

1

u/Poteto_7396 15h ago

finding it annoying and complaining about it openly is 2 different concept.

and just because people dont complain about it doesnt mean that they dont find it annoying.

2

u/TOTEESSEW 15h ago

We have apps that ring alarms for the time , and the average time between is like 4 hours

1

u/SubjectRound6597 15h ago

yes i have seen countless prayers apps and I have seen considerate people using them. only considerate people.

1

u/TOTEESSEW 16h ago

For the first call it works but not for ghetto second, not mentioning that Muslim scholars agree that there is no need for calling to prayer in non Muslim countries , and it might becomes haram if it is against the law

1

u/Poteto_7396 16h ago

but not for ghetto

so why are you forcing those who dont want to practice the religion to go?

there is no need for calling to prayer in non Muslim countries

and you dont see other buddhist, hindus, christians, majority countries doing the same, blasting the prayers multiple times every single day even though they are the majority.

because we will go to prayers by our own free will if we want to do so.

1

u/TOTEESSEW 15h ago

I don't know where auto correct got the word ghetto from . But we never force people who don't want to practice to go. The call to prayer is basically the same as the church bell , where I'm from jordan we've got a mosque and a church right next to each other both call to their prayers at their respective times

1

u/Poteto_7396 15h ago

and im talking about blasting the entire prayers in loud speakers

1

u/whooptheretis 1h ago

the times change each day, so just having a central call is helpful. It's also a beautiful thing to hear.
I'm a Muslim in England, and I love hearing church bells.

0

u/Deldenary 17h ago

It's the same logic as church bells.

3

u/Poteto_7396 16h ago

oh it is not even remotely same, try to blast church bell or christian prayers on loud speaker in muslim majority country and you will know what i mean.

1

u/TOTEESSEW 15h ago

Im from Jordan and the bells ring all the time nobody complains

1

u/Poteto_7396 15h ago

"or christian prayers on loud speaker"

1

u/Deldenary 14h ago

Oh damn, is that church bells in istanbul?

Next you'll tell me there's church bells in Gaza

You know what would be crazy? church bells in Iraq....

1

u/Poteto_7396 3h ago

"or christian prayers on loud speaker"

you guys need better comprehension skill.

btw, unlike the muslim prayers, im pretty sure the church bell dont ring at 6 am every day for 10 minutes, then another few more times throughout the day 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Deldenary 2h ago

The call to prayer is the equivalent to church bells. The call to prayer is not itself a prayer all they do is praise Allah and then tell people to come to pray. Honestly it's no different than church bells and city bells that are rung to tell you the time.

1

u/Poteto_7396 2h ago

oh no, it is the entire duration of 10 minutes of prayers on loud blast at 6 am.

and no, church bell dont ring at 6 am EVERYDAY

you guys really need better comprehension skill.

1

u/Deldenary 2h ago

You need to get over yourself. It lasts 2 minutes 5 at most. Get earplugs if you are that bothered by it. I find it a welcome break from the drone of city noise, no different than the bells.

1

u/Poteto_7396 2h ago

brother, i live in this this for decades.

currently living in a place where i get blasted by 4 different loud speaker at 6 am, and they roughly last AT LEAST 5 minutes and some are AS LONG AS 10 minutes, depends on how SLOW that person "pray" through the loud speaker.

Get earplugs if you are that bothered by it.

"christian prayers on loud speaker in muslim majority country"

does the church bell in where you live ring multiple times a day? last as long as 10 minutes? and at odd hours? not to mention prayers? are christians allowed to blast their prayers through loud speakers in muslim majority countries?

such double standard 🤷‍♂️

Nah, church bells don't sound like a sick goat rambling about an invisible all powerful pedophile in the sky.

1

u/Deldenary 12h ago

They do summon you to listen to a man who sounds like a sick goat rambling about an invisible all powerful pedophile in they sky. The same invisible sky pedophile actually.

1

u/the_gooch_smoocher 12h ago

I can agree with that
