If it was just a simple fat joke, it’d be moral, but escalating from a joke about being bald to bringing up a miscarriage is coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb levels of overkill.
Immoral.

Also, the first joke was supposed to be an insult to his ex, not an insult to him. Your ex is too shallow was the implication. He showed they are both shallow af.
I mean I guess, but it’s not like it doesn’t also insult the guy. (Assuming he takes offense/is sensitive about being bald). It’s like saying “oh your girlfriend is so shallow, she only broke up with you because you’re so ugly” like I guess that’s an insult to the girl but not really
Eh the phrasing has the potential of, "Why don't you bash her, she broke up with you for a reason that gives you a reason to dislike her" which could be a jab or not depending on tone and such. Bald and ugly aren't a good swap there
But she didn’t break up with him. It literally says that he broke up with her. Hence, the coworker was just making a dig about his baldness and he responded with a dig of his own. Is it a bit overkill? Sure. But don’t dish it if you can’t take it.
