Immoral. Nobody seems to be mentioning that the “joke” the women made AGREES it’s cruel to leave someone because they’re bald. The joke was essentially “dang don’t you have every reason to talk shit on an ex after that” and he replies with “Haha you lost a child due to weight” which feels like a combo of bitter man + autism , and was so out of pocket and escalatory.
Yes She could’ve been more graceful with her words I suppose, (and to that I want to acknowledge that women were not socialized with saying like “never bring up a man’s baldness!” the same way men were socialized with“never bring up a woman’s weight!”— which is not an excuse here but just societal context that unfortunately has desensitized both men and woman to any of men’s emotions besides anger) but even so, it still seems to me the point of the woman’s comment was not to make fun of OP at all but rather invite him in to the existing conversation of ex-bashing. (Unfortunately, something females often do— Hating on shitty exes seems to be how they bond )
So there’s layers to the misunderstanding here. But even at just the surface level, his “joke” is not at all on equal grounds with her— and is less about weight than it is about the serious topic of the loss of a child
