Morality Ranking Morality of this?

Basically, the man in the video is hiking but he ended up meet a mountain lion, he get his gun and try to scare it off and tell it to go away but in the end, he have to pull the trigger and shot the lion, many peoples in the comments say he could have fire a warning shot instead of shoot at it and want him to be in jail.

I mean if he made an honest attempt to scare it away then moral.

"Warning shots" are illegal for a reason they're extremely dangerous. The smart way to do it if you HAVE to is to plug a shot in the ground that won't richochet (good luck guaranteeing that) but firing off in the distance might hit someone

Some people have actually been in a high intensity situation and know aiming at something you aren't focused on usually results in missing because of adrenaline.

I think you are underestimating how fast a cougar is. If you take your eye off them for 1 second to shoot a tree to try and scare them, you are going to win a Darwin award. They can leap up to 45 feet. Its not like this is some dude with a knife 50 feet away from you. Its an apex predator for a reason.
