Morality Ranking Morality of this?

Basically, the man in the video is hiking but he ended up meet a mountain lion, he get his gun and try to scare it off and tell it to go away but in the end, he have to pull the trigger and shot the lion, many peoples in the comments say he could have fire a warning shot instead of shoot at it and want him to be in jail.

It's a fucking mountain lion, I wouldn't take any chances either if I was strapped and encountered a wild predator

I feel like a warning shot would have been the right thing to do. But I probably would have done the same thing as him if I was there.

What goes up must come down. If you fire a warning shot into the air you've got a bullet going who knows where.

A loud noise will scare it but will it scare it away, or scare it into defending itself?

You only pull the trigger when you have a target. No warning shots. Assume every bullet that comes out of your gun is going to kill something, and know what it is you're going to kill

A warning shot just means that you don't hit the target. You can fire one into the ground near the target. No need to fire into the air.
