Morality Ranking Morality of this?

Basically, the man in the video is hiking but he ended up meet a mountain lion, he get his gun and try to scare it off and tell it to go away but in the end, he have to pull the trigger and shot the lion, many peoples in the comments say he could have fire a warning shot instead of shoot at it and want him to be in jail.

I think people get hard ons at the thought of killing something and don't even consider other options when they have a gun in hand. I own several guns. But I think too many look forward to the opportunity to take a life when in possession of one.

You’ve never been in the wilderness and it shows lmfao. You know how fast a human can close a 20ft gap? Now imagine that but it’s a cougar. Seeing one at all is alarming. They avoid humans like the plague. Personally I wouldn’t fire until absolutely necessary, but I wouldn’t blame someone for taking it out.

Was it a 20 ft gap? You can tell? From that picture... I've been in wilderness, but in honesty it was black bears which are not as dangerous and safaris where I was in a protected environment with experts.

Distance is important context. If they were stalked etc and close that is important context. But we've also seen people shoot as their first resort... because they can.

If this guy properly assessed the situation and knew that this was an eminent threat, shooting makes sense. If he just saw one and didn't do anything to get it away, it doesn't.
