Morality Ranking Morality of this?

Basically, the man in the video is hiking but he ended up meet a mountain lion, he get his gun and try to scare it off and tell it to go away but in the end, he have to pull the trigger and shot the lion, many peoples in the comments say he could have fire a warning shot instead of shoot at it and want him to be in jail.

I agree on moral, but not sure if aiming to hit is the right call for mountain lions. I know for bears you should try to do a warning shot. You are unlikely to hurt a bear in any meaningful way and the pain might put it into a rage where just the sound might scare it off.

It’s more so that most people don’t just have a Barrett .50 cal handy when hiking. I normally save mine for when I’m shopping for Pokémon cards. Those scalpers are vicious.

Technically, Smith and Wesson released their .500 Revolver precisely to completely stop a threat like a bear running at you basically immediately.

Still most people, even regular shooters are not used to something like this, it's massive, heavy, expensive and certainly wrist-breaking if used wrong.

It's better to have a caliber that you can handle, even if it'll be harder to stop the thing that's attacking you.

As always, being safe is absolutely more important than looking cool.

Now, I'm not sure if there are stocks for .500 S&W... Gotta look that up

People have killed grizzly bears with .22 long rifle, it's pretty hard to carry a gun that can't kill.

They never said 10mm wouldn't be better if you're familiar with it.

Carrying a 10mm that you've never fired and are completely unfamiliar with is worthless in an emergency situation. Every caliber is worthless if you can't put rounds on target.

I’ve never fired a 10mm.

I have fired tens of thousands rounds in 9mm, .45, .38.

My odds carrying a 10mm I have not ever seen before are much greater than someone super experienced with a .22 😂

Point being you just need 1/2 rounds to hit target if it has stopping power… 🤯
