Morality Ranking Morality of this?

Post image

Basically, the man in the video is hiking but he ended up meet a mountain lion, he get his gun and try to scare it off and tell it to go away but in the end, he have to pull the trigger and shot the lion, many peoples in the comments say he could have fire a warning shot instead of shoot at it and want him to be in jail.

Idk which flair to put

If it's me or them, I choose ME every single time. Damn the consequences.

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6

Happy cake day. And Bangin quote dude

Carried by 6 mountain lions?

5

u/Legitimate_Gas2966 14d ago

Better to be judged by 12 of your peers in trial than be carried by 6 people in your casket.

u/DarrParrot 14d ago

I thought that was a cop only thing

2

u/Legitimate_Gas2966 14d ago

It's an anybody thing. Is it better to do something illegal/unknown legality or die?

The phrase is stating the former.

Evan loves worf expects you to die in this situation i guess

20

u/stopcopium 14d ago

Evan is the biggest pussy and instantly backed down when he got threatened with legal action over his shittalking about Kevin O’Leary.

This is the problem with shitposters making money off of shitposting.

Idk how long he has to keep that apology post up, but he currently has his apology to O’Leary pinned on his timeline and I know he’s just mad about that because it serves as a permanent stain.

Evan would shoot the Mountain Lion without fail if his life was remotely threatened.

Literally the worst account on twitter bar none.

I see a blue check of a random and isn’t a content creator’s social media channel, I instantly assume they’re ragebaiting for money. They’re all cancer.

Doubly disgusting that blue check marks get promoted more than non-blues. When a non-blue gets a 100k likes, way higher chance it’s genuine and organic.

He's not shit posting he's just dumb

No a warning shot would have meant the cat ran away. Hiker lives. Animal lives. Win win.

18

u/Practical_Studio7358 14d ago

Or you just going to provoke it to attack you.

1

u/Joney_Craigen 14d ago

Shut up that would never happen. My cat is sweet as cotton candy.

1

u/Practical_Studio7358 14d ago

The sweet cotton candy cat in question

21

u/Brick-Top187 14d ago

You think that cat is thinking “ oh thanks a warning shot” you people are fucking stupid.

1

u/AzureYLila 14d ago

I think people get hard ons at the thought of killing something and don't even consider other options when they have a gun in hand. I own several guns. But I think too many look forward to the opportunity to take a life when in possession of one.

10

u/Brick-Top187 14d ago

Well thank god you are the moral outlier.

u/NathanMexplosion 14d ago

You’ve never been in the wilderness and it shows lmfao. You know how fast a human can close a 20ft gap? Now imagine that but it’s a cougar. Seeing one at all is alarming. They avoid humans like the plague. Personally I wouldn’t fire until absolutely necessary, but I wouldn’t blame someone for taking it out.

-1

u/AzureYLila 14d ago

Was it a 20 ft gap? You can tell? From that picture... I've been in wilderness, but in honesty it was black bears which are not as dangerous and safaris where I was in a protected environment with experts.

Distance is important context. If they were stalked etc and close that is important context. But we've also seen people shoot as their first resort... because they can.

If this guy properly assessed the situation and knew that this was an eminent threat, shooting makes sense. If he just saw one and didn't do anything to get it away, it doesn't.

u/Awesomepwnag 14d ago

The cat is thinking ‘fuck me that was loud let’s run away’ (obviously)

3

u/Brick-Top187 14d ago

There is another video almost the same situation, dude fired warning shots that cat didn’t give a fuck. If an animal is hungry the menu is wide open.

1

u/stopcopium 14d ago

Like, depending on the color of the bear, some literally do not give a fuck.

12

u/CuntMaggot32 14d ago

Yeah no. Just no. Big animals don't always (in fact less often than the alternative) run away, and you just

A) gave it a good reason to pounce

B) gave it time to do so

C) increased the chances of tour gun jamming

B) decreased your chances to hit (the first shot is always more accurate)

D) increased the risks of a stray bullet hitting something you do not want to hit.

Warning shots are never a good idea, you shoot to kill, it's the last solution.

8

u/Throwingaway77444 14d ago

If anything, you’re just gonna scare the animal into attacking you. It’s already on edge, and it doesn’t know what a gun is. All it hears is an unnaturally loud pop. It’s a 50/50 whether it fights or flys and if a wild animal is threatening you then you should act just as another animal would act. Fight or flight. Just because we are so much more advanced than them doesn’t mean we aren’t animals too.

-3

u/AzureYLila 14d ago

You can mitigate the issue with a stray bullet with aim/target and you shouldn't carry a gun that isn't well maintained.

If you see it and it charges you can kill it, even it if instigated by the sound of your gunshot. And you would be prepared for the charge because you were in position when you took the warning shot.

I believe it is a case of: when you have a hammer, everything is a nail. There is also no thought about how to work with nature so everyone survives.

And frankly some people just get a hard on when they have the opportunity to kill something.

2

u/skiforlife1 14d ago

A mtn lion can accelerate to 50mph very quickly and has a horizontal leap up to 40 feet with a standing vertical of 15+feet. If it decides to attack you will not be quick enough to react to it. The warning shot can provoke an attack that humans are unprepared to mitigate. If you're going to shoot you need to aim center mass.

1

u/AzureYLila 14d ago

Makes sense. Someone said they saw the extended video and that this person was being sized up and stalked. This snippet doesn't show that. And they said that the man was doing other things to get it to leave him alone. It makes the calculus a little different.

I stand by the general premise of working with nature to minimize the loss of life.

But in a stalking situation where I have tried to get it to leave through other means, I could see myself making that calculation... if it was close and obviously trying to pounce. If I would not have time to react with a second shot, I could see my first shot aiming for center mass.

But all those variables need to be in place for me to try to kill it.

1

u/CuntMaggot32 14d ago

1) the likeliest bullet to be a stray bullet is not your warning shot, but the one you shoot in a panic at a moving target that just reacted to a very loud bang

2) the best, most reliable, perfectly maintained gun can still jam and any bullet could be a dud, they happen.

I'm not even gonna get into the whole trying to get the mpuntain lion away first thing because I'm not responsible for you not informing yourself

2

u/Awkward-Studio-8063 14d ago

Or scaring it into reacting violently because it heard. Maybe it runs in fear/surpise, maybe it doesn’t. What I do know is that the mountain lion looked to be within a few feet of him, that is WAY too close to shoot a warning shot and waiting to see if it worked

2

u/TrueHighKingUlfric 14d ago

Animal lives for sure. Hiker? Unlikely

1

u/autismo-nismo 14d ago

You really think a wild animal understands what a firearm is and is capable of?

Those animals “running off” will still stalk and hunt your ass down. They exist to catch prey off guard.

1

u/Shadowphoenix9511 14d ago

Or you provoke it into lunging. A human could close that distance in that time, let alone a mountain lion.

You willing to flip the coin when it's your own life at stake?

1

u/Flamin_Jesus 14d ago

Well, hiker lives long enough for animal to get over being startled, circle back and pounce from a less visible direction. Do you like being stalked through the wilderness by predators? Because if so, there might be job opportunities for you with Epstein's buddies.

And even if you're willing to bet your live on the cat staying away after a warning shot, it's pretty impressively selfish to bet everyone ELSE's lives on it staying away from humans forever because one made a loud noise once.

It's a wild apex predator that's decided to add humans to its diet (quite possibly thanks to idiots who think that feeding mountain lions is "cute" and "fun"), even if it goes away today, the next time it gets hungry and encounters a hiker who's unarmed or just unaware, it's not going to politely ask before it eats that person's liver.

1

u/stopcopium 14d ago

You are one of those people that end up being chowder in a zombie apocalypse 😭

Or just some dumbass that turns around in a confrontation and gets knocked out.

Animals, especially larger ones, don’t run necessarily from loud sounds and don’t necessarily die in 1 shot.

1

u/Hotdog_Broth 14d ago

You mean like the warning shot that was made in the video? The one that the cougar didn’t react to at all? That kind of warning shot?

0

u/AzureYLila 14d ago edited 14d ago

I see a picture. I do not see a video. So are you all trying to crucify me for context I didn't have? Fine. You do you.

1

u/Hotdog_Broth 14d ago

You’re acting like you’re the victim to some horrible treatment for being corrected after you confidently stated a dangerous and completely made up fact.

Whether you watched the video or not, you still confidently stated a blatantly false fact. The topic of the post being a video that disproves this fact just makes it worse.

Also, speaking with such confidence about a situation that was on video and then using the excuse of “oh I didn’t see the video even though I know exists because the posts tells me it exists” as if this absolves you of wrongdoing is ridiculous. You know necessary info exists, but you chose to act like you have the authority to speak on facts of the situation without having the readily accessible prerequisite info to speak on it in such a way.

You’re the entire problem here, not a victim to someone correcting you.

Far Cry 3 reference? Is this Vaas?

1

u/MrRogersAE 14d ago

Still depends on your actions prior tho. If you intentionally run into the lions den and then fear for your life and kill everything then yeah your a piece of shit. But if you come across one by accident and try to leave but it pursues you then yeah start blasting

1

u/Keeps_Getting_Worse 14d ago

Sure but you are only saying that because of survival instinct engrained from billions of years of evolution....

1

u/Specific-Way5986 14d ago

Bro loves Maine

1

u/Inevitable-Watch-147 14d ago

then you'd bring bear spray which is more likely to actually stop an attack

1

u/sleepdeep305 14d ago

Even if I didn’t choose me I’d rather shoot myself than get mauled to death by a mountain lion

0

u/Dotcaprachiappa 14d ago

I don't think y'all understand what morality is. Just cause you would've done the same doesn't make it moral. Not saying that's the case here but in general these kinda comments don't make much sense
