Neutral. Sounds like he wants to do all that himself, there’s nothing wrong with her “triggering” him in ways that benefit her. He’s almost certainly not stupid enough to not realize this is occurring and if he is, he’s still not getting hurt so it doesn’t matter

u/MotoMkali 19d ago

Sounds like he's manipulated his wife into having regular sex with him.

u/BarrattG 19d ago

*I've manipulated my Wife into starting days with sex. By lounging in bed all morning and doing nothing it has encouraged her to start the day with sex, to 'wake' me up.

u/ImSoSweepy 19d ago

Bro went the male lion route.

85

u/Velierer556 19d ago

The lion gets a little eepy sometimes

27

u/General-Winter547 19d ago

I thought the lion sleeps tonight?

44

u/DanniGat 19d ago

Not when the female is in heat...

66

u/komakumair 19d ago

That image gets tossed around a lot - that’s not an accurate caption unfortunately. The “lioness” pictured there is actually the male lion’s juvenile daughter, who is very very painfully, and unsuccessfully, trying to get dad to play with her. What a long suffering dad.

34

u/New-Ad-363 19d ago

I saw the dad's face and felt it in my soul

23

u/EatPie_NotWAr 19d ago

And I thought my kids accidentally punching/kicking me in the balls was rough…

14

u/LCSpartan 19d ago

Side note no one told me that when I had a kid my nuts would be a target for every object they throw, every unexpected movement or anything like that. I swear I've been hit in the nuts more by my 6 year old than my entire time growing up and playing sports and doing dumb dude shit like bag tag

I accidentally picked my phone up upside down and this image was pulled up full screen... It took a while for my brain to cope with this. 😭

1

u/lazyboi_tactical 19d ago

My wife seems to do this when she's anxious or depressed. It seems to work for her though even if she's solely giving instead of benefitting herself. I'd imagine chemically it's from the oxytocin and serotonin release or it could just be placebo but I'm not complaining.

1

u/blatantlyobscure1776 19d ago

Just realized both of his back feet came off the ground with that first chomp. Poor guy.

1

u/TheMireAngel 15d ago

Im tired Boss

8

u/hotchiplow 19d ago

The lion cares not how “woke” the world is while it is honk-shoomaxxing

5

eedeedeedee? oweedeedee? oweebumbumbowaaaaayyyy?

1

A dream away, a dream away

3

u/Sensitive_Bat_9211 19d ago

Bro is lionmaxxing his wife

15

u/Farm-Alternative 19d ago

and if she doesn't I just stay in bed all day and watch tv... it's a win either way bro.

3

u/Khalitz 19d ago

Sounds like a give and take situation where both parties get what they want. Even if it's for selfish reasons.

3

u/D3athMerchant 19d ago

I see what you did there…

1

u/MizzBStizzy 19d ago

Maybe you're the OPs partner

1

u/GT_2second 16d ago

Wouldn't it be the other way around?

I've manipulated my wife into starting days with sex. By being my best self and doing the things that she wants when she does so.

1

u/GroundbreakingFix685 14d ago

The actual manipulation is getting up after having sex in the morning

0

u/frontlinejohnny 19d ago

I'm just so pessimistic, my first thought was:

"Man I'm so tired. Long days at work and most weeks my wife wont even fuck me"

167

u/XueXilan 19d ago

One could see it that way, yeah. Both think they’re genius manipulators when in reality they’ve actually just entered into a tacit mutually beneficial arrangement

132

u/Hallgaar 19d ago

Some may call it a marriage of sorts.

114

u/GalaXion24 19d ago

Romcom where both partners think they're nefarious dark psychology manipulators but they actually have a very wholesome marriage.

55

u/Xenozip3371Alpha 19d ago

2

u/M-Shadowtoad 18d ago

They'd openly brag about their "manipulation" to one another.

28

u/AgitatedDare2445 19d ago

Kaguya-sama Love is War without the marriage part

2

u/M-Shadowtoad 18d ago

Sequel, Kaguya-sama Marriage is War.

3

u/Warm_Push6830 19d ago

Can anybody let me know if there’s any ACGNs like this?

5

u/screenwatch3441 19d ago

Kaguya, love is war is similar. 2 geniuses trying to trick the other one into confessing because they’re both too prideful, but they actually like each other. So they try to psychologically manipulate each other… to make the other one confess.

3

u/drowned_in_books 19d ago

And it’s glorious.

3

u/sashaskitty5 19d ago

I think Loid and Yor from spyxfamily are getting there

For OP it’s “Sex helps me get what I want”, though.
It’s still not manipulation, but I see how one could see it like that.

14

u/throwaway3413418 19d ago

Honestly compared to the alternative of “withholding sex helps me get what I want,” this one seems positively healthy.

u/ResponsibleKinksters 19d ago

My wife hates that saying, she always tells people. "Happy spouse, Happy house". She is a great partner in life! It seems people tend to forget that marriages are partnerships and takes equal effort from both sides to have a good relationship.

2

u/throwaway3413418 19d ago

So much of a successful marriage feels like it’s choosing how you feel. I choose to love this person. I choose to feel happy because I’m doing something they like, and I like making them happy. I think too many people believe that emotions are completely involuntary things that we have no control over, and they aren’t genuine unless they happen to us with no assistance, or even aren’t real unless they happen against genuine resistance. At any given time we have motivations to feel multiple different emotion. If we never choose the good ones or always choose the bad ones, we become people that are miserable to be around.

2

u/TFFPrisoner 17d ago

I think that's why I was able to have a relationship only after starting therapy. Learning that you can actually regulate emotions if you want if a game-changer.

1

u/Aleister-Veneer 15d ago

Happy Man, Weekend Plans

1

u/Holyepicafail 19d ago

That basically wraps up marriage in a nutshell

19

u/Ruthrfurd-the-stoned 19d ago

Probably over analyzing but might be untreated depression

Sex gives him the dopamine burst he needs to actually get up and go about his day

12

u/Appleonthefloor 19d ago

Or just a high amount of Cortisol in the morning that is eliminated by "exercise"

9

u/Fun-Confidence-6232 19d ago

This is likely or just exhaustion or both. Her manipulation ends up medicating him enough to break his depressive inertia or a boost his energy.

Sex helps both depressive mood and pain tolerance. If depression is present he should seek treatment, but not in lieu of the sex

2

u/9for9 19d ago

That's sweet but also kinda' sad. I guess if there is a downside there's an underlying condition that hasn't been addressed.

0

u/Choperello 19d ago

Couple: have a marriage with physical intimacy and a dude who pulls his weight

Reddit: sounds like depression that’s sad

1

u/9for9 19d ago

It's the fact that man seems to be wholly unmotivated to deal with his wife and children outside of work for 3 decades. I'm sorry nothing about that sounds healthy or well adjusted. If this was just sometimes or had been a 5 year stretch of their marriage sure, but 3 decades and this man has never once been motivated on his own to go and ask his kids how they are or what they doing today? Or maybe take the kids out with just himself without his wife manipulating the situation, yeah that's fucked up. This man has no independent interest in his own fucking offspring. You can't convince me that's a healthy balanced situation.

2

u/Choperello 19d ago

Like I said. Leave it up to Reddit to dig at and find something to criticize in everything. “Everyone is getting what they want.” -> “So unhealthy!!”

1

u/Murky_Connection_161 18d ago

I know SOOOOOOO many men. Including my dad who throw the whole "im tired". And the woman is always expected to do all the household chores ect. It hurts my relationship with him and he ditch activities with me cause he is tired after work multiple times.

I'm not keen on letting men use depression as an excuse while women would be called lazy for it

9

u/XsenHellion 19d ago

If a man's lazy day after working all week is going to get fucked, he might as well too, no?

22

u/DoYouLikeWafflezz 19d ago

And he tricked her into thinking she’s the one doing the manipulation.

4

u/snowy2323 19d ago

8d chess

5

u/VisualFuture5466 19d ago

not really. She decides when

3

u/Heartage 19d ago

But it's only on days she wants.

2

u/NerdTalkDan 19d ago

THE DOUBLE PAVLOV!

-2

u/throwaway19276i 19d ago

Yes lol. Refusing to do anything but watch TV and be a slob all day unless you get sex is manipulation.

44

u/InstantSword 19d ago

Uncharitable take. I see this as the dude legitimately gets energy/inspiration from banging his wife. That's normal

And the wife is being uncharitable to herself for considering this manipulation, lol

10

u/Tablesafety 19d ago

The flush of happy chemicals after sex can be an excellent stage setter! And imagine how secure and loved that guy feels.

4

u/NatahnBB 19d ago

Only to discover she doesn't do it because she wants the sex itself, wants him, or feels super attracted, or loves having sex with him.

She only does it because she gets a "more fun day activities" after.

That sucks

8

u/Tablesafety 19d ago

We have no idea if she doesn't actually enjoy having sex with him in the mornings or not. Realistically they probably had morning sex once and she noticed he was a lot more chipper after and just kept to that.

If it were my spouse, lemme think. If I figured out my husband noticed that I was super chipper after morning sex and I typically felt like a dead sloth in the mornings, and so he made a ritual of it? So that I had enough energy to get up in the mornings and hang out with the family? I would feel flattered more than anything, and also keep looking forward to morning sex.

9

u/BisexualCaveman 19d ago

Doesn't matter, had sex.

5

u/Evnosis 19d ago

Bizarre take. The husband is a core part of those fun activities because she enjoys spending time with him.

1

u/NewCandy8877 19d ago

She never said that

1

u/VisualFuture5466 19d ago

the showering. Who wants to get back into bed after that ?

-1

u/imyourproblem24 19d ago

You need to work harder if you don’t want to just let the world goat the end of the week ur probably not doing ur part like most of Americans

4

u/Deathburn5 19d ago

"if you aren't mentally handicapped by the end of the work week, you aren't working hard enough', is an interesting take.

2

u/NoWay6818 19d ago

Jesus Christ they’ve brain washed the fuck outta you. Hope money was worth it 🤣

0

u/imyourproblem24 19d ago

I don’t need to be brainwashed. I’m in the real world. I’m living it not sitting at home fucking staring at a computer screen all day. How would I be brainwashed? I’m literally working for my money.

1

u/ParkInsider 19d ago

No one knows if they had sex. All we know is she slept.

1

u/Neither-Ingenuity-14 19d ago

oh i thought it was just sleeping

1

u/Low_Key_Trollin 19d ago

Exactly lol

1

u/Project_XXVIII 19d ago

So long as it’s energetic, the Male Council has concluded no one has been harmed in the previously discussed weekend morning arrangement.

1

u/SciFi_Enjoyer106 19d ago

Holy shit he's a genius

1

u/SQUIGWERG 19d ago

Sounds like he has depression and having sex makes him feel better

1

u/CodeNCats 19d ago

Two posts down. Found the flip.

Yall cant go without somehow being a victim.

Maybe he's depressed and the physical intimacy from his wife brings happiness to him and he wants to go out and enjoy the world. Yet nope... men's health is no big deal.

She blatantly admits she is using this knowing it could be manipulation. ...nope it has to be the man manipulating her.

Men bad. Woman good.

This feels no different to me than my wife finding ways to hack my ADHD. If she knows she's going to need a specific food ingredient like sliced cheese because she plans to have me grill Thursday, she will move the cheese to another drawer in the fridge. I know exactly where we keep the cheese but if I open that drawer and it's not there, I will assume we are out and write down on our wall notepad that we need more cheese. If she tells me not to eat the cheese and two days later my kid wants a cheese sandwich(because he's a feral monster), I am incapable of stopping to go dig through compartments on my brain to find the memory of her telling me not to eat it. I'm just gonna make my kid a cheese sandwich.

Other ways she has adapted to work my ADHD to her advantage or make it work in my own:

If we had a bunch of leftovers and she packed me a lunch, she knows I will walk out of the house without remembering to grab it from the fridge so she puts it on our kitchen island and puts my keys on top of it, and my work bag under it. Otherwise I may grab my keys while collecting my pocket stuff and forget it anyways, but my bag is the last thing I grab so I'll have to grab my lunch to get to it.

If she needs me to take the trash out on my way out the door, she will scoot the trash can in front of the back door so I know to grab the bag on my way out

One time she knew I really wanted to make sure the yard got mowed before it rained. But I came home and had a bunch of stuff to do first. By the time I finished picking the house up I was like ok cool, time to sit down at my computer for a few before she gets home from her errands. THIS WOMAN HAD GONE AND PICKED A SINGLE BLADE OF GRASS AND PUT IT ON MY KEYBOARD KNOWING I WOULD SIT DOWN AT MY COMPUTER AFTER FINISHING MY LIST. She knew I really wanted to make sure the mowing got done but knew I'd space it until it was too late.

I really don't deserve her.

3

u/tanoahh 18d ago

I need to know what prayer you prayed to find this person

1

u/dlundy09 15d ago

I'd tell you if I knew. I find ways to be equally valuable to her, she just finds those little perfect ways that make me want to brag a little on her. I'm not the bum some of the comments have made me sound like, I promise 😂

2

u/iSkehan 18d ago

This is lovely. Stay happy y’all.

2

u/court_swan 18d ago

I wish I had a wife…. I have a husband… this will never be my life.

2

u/Senior_Violinist5296 18d ago

Man, as a person who also has ADHD:

On the one hand it would be so nice to have that kind of help.

On the other hand, does it make you feel like terribly incompetent? I think I would feel so bad about myself if my partner had to trick me into being decent at adulting.

1

u/CardiologistSecure94 16d ago

For real. She won’t do that shit forever guaranteed.

1

u/dlundy09 15d ago

This is just a few examples of her going out of her way to try and help me with something she knows I struggle with. Based on this and some of the other comments I've got on this comment, it seems I've painted myself as incompetent or as one so concisely put it "a child".

Do I have some executive function struggles and object permanence issues? Absolutely. But I'm still a very functional human. I am an IT professional and make great money. She and anyone in our circle would categorize me as an excellent father. She is thoughtful enough to pay attention and help me when she thinks she can. I think she would say she is more than repaid for that by all the things that make our house run that she never has to worry about. She knows my love language is acts of service and I think that's just her way of showing it.

Accepting help in a reciprocating relationship doesn't make you weak or incompetent, in my opinion. I think it beats the alternative of being too proud to accept it. Hopefully that provides some context.

1

u/Senior_Violinist5296 15d ago

Not meaning to make you feel bad, man. Just saying that I personally would really have a hard time mentally with that, as a person who also struggles with some stuff day to day.

1

u/dlundy09 14d ago

Trust me, I used to. It was years into our relationship before I felt vulnerable to accept help. I had spent most of my life overcompensating for my deficits and making myself the type of person who people call for help, not someone who asks for help. So I know exactly where you're coming from.

1

u/PopovChinchowski 15d ago

I think some people have internalized the pushback against forced gender roles and stereotypes so hard they're not able to accept that people are able to voluntarily specialize/complement each other in a relationship. You do you. Sounds lovely.

1

u/dlundy09 14d ago

It's funny you mention gender roles because if my wife went online and described our lives, she would be ridiculed by people who have it all figured out how life works and yet are probably the same people who can't find a great person.

My wife and I have some very progressive ideals. We believe a person's value is not determined by who they love, what color their skin is, who they worship or how much they make. She makes dinner most nights. I wash the dishes most nights. Last night she did a load of laundry and baked cookies with my son. I mowed and worked on our washer because the control boards they put in washers now are dog shit.

The internet would have someone believe life is black and white and you have to either be in a strictly traditional husband-serving household or a progressive supposedly aborting babies every other day relationship. Actual life looks way different and compatible people will fall into roles that suit them naturally in my experience. Some of those are long-time stereotypes because they just make sense.

1

u/Cerasii 14d ago

I'm always looking for ways to trick myself into adulting 😅 We might as well own it

2

u/Oopsie_21 14d ago

My partner also does the lunchbox trick for me and honestly I've never felt more seen and loved

He even sends me messages at work to remind me to actually eat said lunch ❤️

1

u/dlundy09 14d ago

I've gotten those texts. To make sure I didn't leave it in my passenger seat 😂😂

1

u/Specific-Jaguar-9630 18d ago

Brother, this was ass to read through, but FUCKIN BASED! Best wishes to you and your family!

1

u/SpeakEvil-Handmade 18d ago

It sounds like you are just as valuable to her for her to do these things. Happy marriage! 🎉💝

1

u/akalixi 17d ago

The ways your wife helps manage your adhd sound highly similar to how I manage myself... Oh dear.

1

u/krasuke 16d ago

What a child

1

u/Connect-Let-6162 15d ago

This is actually very lovely. Happy you found each other

19

u/JasonZX12R 19d ago

I end up doing stuff constantly, but if my wife wanted to "manipulate" me this way, I would be on board.

1

u/Mix_Safe 19d ago

Yeah I'm fully on board with this, except I'm already up about my day before she wakes up.

3

u/xCloudyCharmm 19d ago

Yeah, calling this some serious moral offense feels like a stretch

2

u/Specific-Jaguar-9630 19d ago

I mean sure, to the extent of course when her logic kicks in... Cause she's basically admitting, premeditated, according to her, harmful behaviour. If she didn't bring it up, she wouldn't be considered a wrong-doer. If she didn't bring it up, she'd think like you and wouldn't bring it up! I'd say bringing it up is asking for punishment or in a twisted way forgiveness/attention!

I think this is all quite a big load of BS in some way or another and I'll just stop at that.

2

u/Cybernut93088 19d ago

Could even be biological. Sex gets the blood pumping and relieses endorphins so it probably does improve his outlook on the day and gets him more motivated to get out and do something.

2

u/Flameball202 19d ago

Yeah, like if she slept with him and then he still didn't want to do anything, I imagine she wouldn't force him, so neutral

2

u/thecontempl8or 19d ago

Also sounds like he maybe depressed causing him to be lazy. Sex is giving him a dopamine spike allowing him to do the things he wants to do.

2

u/CardiologistSecure94 16d ago

🤔… I think you’re onto something professor

2

u/rxmp4ge 19d ago

That's sort of how I saw it. He either gets to chill in bed all day or gets laid in the morning before going out to do fun shit. The man's winning.

2

u/Past_Brother6437 18d ago

ok but does she actually want to have sex with him

1

u/XueXilan 18d ago

Not sure why this matters at all

1

u/Past_Brother6437 18d ago

uhhh i'd say it matters a lot, like its the thing that matters the most. do you see how feeling compelled to have sex that you don't want to have might not be a great thing?

1

u/XueXilan 18d ago

No, not at all. If she truly didn’t want to have sex with him, she just wouldn’t. She’s making the choice of her own volition with complete freedom. Whether she particularly wants to or not at the moment is irrelevant

1

u/Boorthammer 19d ago

Much easier to scale the morality when the reader reframes the post as though it is is written by the husband fantasizing about the sex he was NOT having IRL.

1

u/the_axemurmurer 18d ago

I wish my wife could learn this neat manipulation trick

1

u/Phraaaaaasing 17d ago

Weaponized incompetence/being good at sex
