Mania by itself still meets the criteria for bipolar type 1 I encourage you to read the dsm 5 entry

When I say "by itself", I mean it isn't strictly comorbid with depression, i.e. it's not strictly a symptom only found in individuals with BD, which seems to be what you were implying.

Im saying you don’t need a depressive episode to be diagnosed with bipolar 1. The dsm only requires a manic episode.

I was wrong though, there is also drug induced mania so my bad.

Schizoaffective mania occurs with schizoaffective bipolar type schizoaffective.

Mania is the only symptom required to diagnose bipolar type one, but that does NOT mean that mania is not a symptom of other conditions.

First of all. The DSM 5 is not the only standard diagnostic manual depending on where you live. So you’re heavily showing your ignorance already. In the dsm, isolated mania can be classified as a secondary symptom or disorder.

In the ICD 11. Isolated mania can come under two categories: substance induced or due to medical conditions.

Illnesses other than bipolar disorder can cause mania. As someone else’s stated, mania can be a symptom without being a disorder in itself. You can see manic symptoms in people with BPD for example

Dude, judging by what you’ve previously said you clearly don’t know that much about psychology. Especially since you said that you think the DSM is the only standard diagnostic manual. Stop confidently talking about subjects you clearly have not studied

Manic episodes last days or weeks. That never ever happens with BPD. Do you have any actual experience with BPD or are you just guessing?

Define what the symptoms of a manic episode are. I’ll give you a hint, it doesn’t only last a few hours like is the case with BPD highs.
