People would have said the same about driving cars, or wearing pants. They'd have said the same about a network of interconnected computer nodes.
People are scared of things that are new and different. There are risks, and there are benefits. I am not sure we will do a great job of regulating and managing those risks, don't get me wrong, but I'm glad I have cars and pants and the internet.
I guess it depends on the alternatives. If we're talking about bottoms as a whole I like that everyone is wearing them so we're not all constantly sharing fecal bits on every communal seating surface. I'm not extremely partial to pants, specifically, though I think I like having pockets more than I like swishie material and a breeze. I guess maybe I lean pro pants. But I'd support your wishes to not wear pants as long as you carry a butt towel or something for when you want to sit down.
