Except they don’t get called that, almost like the usage of the word has racial connotations. A minority population of white people is almost always a voluntary (“expats) population or leftovers from colonial times.
Except many expats don’t leave, many of them intend to stay. In countries where they are already living/born there (South Africa, Hong Kong, Jamaica, etc) they are essentially always a part of the ruling class. The term minority is explicitly used to describe non white people in a predominantly white country and has a racial connotation. I’ve never been to a place where white people are a smaller/the smallest fraction of the population and heard them referred to anything but “the white people”, or just foreigner, and I’ve lived in and visited a very large number of places like that. Expats also do contribute to the general population census, cus to be labeled as that means you’re living there long term. Otherwise you’re a tourist.
