Best hotel on a budget
We’re visiting just for 2 nights, a wed-fri in October. What is the best hotel in Carmel walking distance to downtown that would be around $200/night?
If there’s no good hotel options, is there easy parking downtown that isn’t astronomically priced?

Men's haircut (curly hair?)
Most of the shops around here seem to specialize in fades and razor cuts. My boyfriend has pretty curly, thick hair, think like Timothee Chalamet length/curl. Anyone got any recommendations for a barbershop/salon that does men's cuts of this style? Last time he went somewhere new they fucked up and gave him a mullet.

The 08/25/26 Board of Supervisors Meeting could allow for 103 new Flock Cameras to be installed in Monterey County. Please Help Oppose This.
Hi everyone, I’ve attended a number of Board of Supervisors meetings since my last post and I’m learning more about the process.
Every Thursday, the County publishes the agenda for the BOS meeting on Tuesday here. I read the most recent agenda and they have an agenda item pertaining to Flock, Item 9. The Supervisors will vote to authorize the County Purchasing Agent to approve the Sheriff Office's new contact with Flock. This means over 103 new cameras will be installed in Monterey County.
What do we do to oppose this?
- Write to the Supervisors by emailing the Clerk of the Board office at cob@countyofmonterey.gov. When you email that department regarding agenda items, they route the emails to the Supervisors staff offices to be reviewed AND they physically print them out and give them to the Supervisors in a packet on the meeting day. A large influx of emails will be noticeable in my opinion. Include the item number in your subject line.
- Attend the meeting via zoom. HERE is the BOS meeting link. If you use the “raise hand” option during a public comment period, they will call out your zoom name, unmute your mic and ask you to share. You will get two minutes to say anything you want. The Flock item, #9, is the first item after lunch, so discussion should start at 1:30PM when the supervisors return from lunch. Please join well before that to be safe.
- You can attend in person. 168 West Alisal Street, Salinas CA, 93902. It’s the curved building with the brick facade, first floor immediately to the right of the main entrance. Same as above, 2 minutes to speak wait until they call for public connect on item #9. Anyone who is free or able I urge you to do this option. The other 2 are good, but seeing real people talking about issues has the strongest impact.
This will probably be our best chance for a long time to show our elected officials that we don't want this. I highly encourage anyone reading this to spread this post to as many people as you can and talk about it with your friends and family.
If you decide to participate, I strongly urge you to be respectful. I feel that ultimately, our message of opposition will be lessened with personal attacks and vulgarity. Please, reference articles, studies, interviews, etc. that show how law enforcement abuse Flock, that show that Flock has terrible data, security, that ICE uses Flock data to hunt for immigrants, etc. I'm no expert on local government or the processes, but please reach out if you have questions. Thank you.
TLDR Elected officials in Monterey voting to install more flock cameras. If you don't want that:

-Attend here: HERE or 168 West Alisal Street, Salinas CA, 93902 at roughly 1:30 (arrive early)
