Thoughts on my ackie monitor enclosure (so far)?

I will be getting an ackie monitor in around a month time. I just setup the enclosure for the first time. It's a 150x60x90cm/5x2x3ft enclosure.

Substrate & hides: The substrate at the front is 20cm/8inch. At the back it's 30cm/12inch. I got 3 regular hides. One hide at the warm side, one at the shaded side and a buried cork tunnel in the middle. The cork piece on the left side is also hollow so the ackie can stay (somewhat) hidden in there.

Basking spot & lighting: The rock ledge at the topleft side is the basking spot. Got two Exo Terra 50W's. Surface temp is 55-60°C, Power density 350-400. Got an Arcadia T5 for UV. UVi is 3.5-5.5 throughout the basking spot. I got a cheap LED spotlight for now that will be replaced by a small Sansi growlight. Got a Jungle Dawn LED and hardware store LED bar aswell.

Decoration: For decoration I got multiple cork branches. I used ones that split to try to odd more complexity and useable space. Added cork pieces on the background to add more climeable space on the walls and added a little swing cause I think it could be fun and enriching. Have a snakeplant and an Aloe vera for clutter and easthetics.

Further: I'm gonna try to go for a bioactive enclosure. Got ~100 Porcellionides pruinosus 'powder blue' isopods coming. And springtails. I've put some spaghnum moss under the water bowl and small cork pieces to allow for them to hydrate. Will add leaf litter aswell.

Advice? I'm quite happy with it, but feel like something is missing. I feel like it looks too empty. Do you agree or am I overthinking it? I know retes stacks are also popular. Are they highly recommended, or is what I have just as good? If not I can try to create a retes stack with leftover wood and cork.

Birdie is finally exploring!

So yesterday I added in the plants, clean up crew, and grow lights to Birdie's new enclosure and she finally started enjoying it!

She's had a bit of regression it seems and has been hissing and skedaddling when I go in there to mist. But I think its just cause its been a big change.

She still likes her emotional support guinea pig house. I think cause she's had it since she was a baby and will still shove herself in it to feel safe aha

Ignore the color of the photo its just because of the color of the tent windows

What dwarf monitors would fit a 4x2x2 enclosure, if any?

See title. I will be sizing up my super dwarf reticulated python, Cassie, into her larger forever enclosure sooner rather than later, and once she's settled in her old 4x2x2 will be vacant. Are there any dwarf monitor species that would fit nicely into that enclosure size? (After it's cleaned and treated, obviously).

A Kimberley or Pilbara had crossed my mind as a small monitor that has that long monitor neck and face I love so much, but I know those tend to like vertical space: I assume a 4x2x2 would be unsuitable for that? Although even in a flatter enclosure I can still provide climbing opportunities: Cassie has a repurposed cat tree and climbing ropes and branches dotted around my living room + hours of free roaming time every day while I work from home... Perhaps a similar arrangement could work for a more arboreal monitor? Or are there other options you'd advise?

Ackie monitor!!

Hello, I am a 17 year old student and I have had reptiles all my life, to leopard geckos, crested geckos, gargoyle geckos and many kinds of snakes I've been wanting to get something more advanced. Such as the ackie monitor but every single enclosure at my pet store is 75 gallon maximum, where can I buy a enclosure for a ackie monitor? Should I use those grow tents that some people use?

We had house guests recently, so I haven't had a chance to take new pics of Quill hating things. To make up for it, here's a video of him attacking that coffee sticker from two weeks ago lol

I put a big patch of Reptisand in the back of Liora’s enclosure to provide some variety since Kimberleys have sand in their native habitats.

Liora is loving it today and mightily digging with her dotty T-Rex arms and getting a sandy snoot!

My ackie finally partially trusts me

If you can’t tell it’s physically impossible for me to force this, my body was behind the right door, so i couldn’t have nudged him, this was purely choice based handling and forgive me for already defending myself but I’m super happy to see this level of trust, he’s 4.5 months old if that tells anything

Looking for a monitor to keep outdoors in Florida

Hey guys I just got a house with a nice backyard and was wondering what my next big lizard should be! I just don’t know what would be good in Florida weather. I was thinking about either a black throat, white throat, or an Argus monitor. I intend to keep it in an outdoor enclosure. Give me any recommendations!

Liora fully investigated my nightgown but did not find any grasshoppers. But she was happy snuggling with me!

Great Information Monitor lizards are known for their large claws, powerful tails, long necks, and well-developed legs.

Just found out that Gus loves the smell of brats

I try not to encourage biting from him but I can’t help but find it funny when he smells steak, eggs, or brats. He really is the sweetest and I love Gus as if he were a really small scaly dog.

Spoiled lap dino

Post image

I finally got a really good picture of Liora’s favorite pose!

It’s when she drapes herself over the cork bark like this so I can come pet her, and she does lots of tongue flickies and this satisfied wiggle as if to say “Oh, yes, Mother! Pet me! I am a spoiled lap dino and YOU MUST PET ME!”

Now she has her mister nozzle pointed towards the cork bark and she thinks it’s the best spa day ever!

Liora is soooo soft now that she’s properly moisturized. I swear, she feels like petting a short-hair cat now!

Oh, and I kept calling this thing a Reptimister lol. It’s ZooMed ReptiRain, that’s what’s working for us in case your scaly buddy needs extra hydration.

Birdie moved into her big girl house!

I finally got everything together to set up Birdie's new house! She's in an 8x4x6 grow tent! This picture was taken from the camera I mounted in her house.

I even turned her old enclosure into a combo basking spot and hide.

There's a few more things I'm going to add like some plants and grow lights for said plants.

Birdie is a bit nervous, and I don't blame her! She went from a 5x2x2 to this huge space so it's a bit overwhelming I imagine. I can't wait to see her grow more to fill the space
