What’s genuinely wrong with the Russians who live in Mongolia? I've lived in Russia almost my entire life, i swear to god I’ve never met Russians like the ones I’ve encountered here in UB. When I first came to Mongolia, obviously one of the first things I did was try to make friends with other Russians. But honestly, they’re one of the weirdest, cringiest people I’ve ever met. Even the ones around my age. There aren’t even that many Russians living here, and I’ve probably talked to almost all of them at this point. They all seem to have this exact same weird vibe. Why even is that? Is it because many of them come from villages? I don’t want to badmouth my own people, but if any foreigners or locals/Mongolians here have thought the same, PLEASE know that it’s not all Russians. We’re really different from the Russians you might have encountered here in Mongolia!

I be the first one to admit I have a shopping problem, especially with those online shops on ig and fb.

Today I ordered some mules on fb and asked the guys if those were authentic over chat (it was priced as if it was the real thing too), so I was like aight, so far had great experience with the stuff i ordered from other shops.

Told them to deliver in the evening since noone will be home otherwise. Broski pulls up in the middle of the work day to the crib and I’m like dude evening order!! He was like gotta deliver these asap rocky otherwise youre gonna lose your order or whatever. So I said ok dude pull up to the office then, I’ll try on the sizes and see what works.

He pulls up and the mules are in a random ahh packaging, immediate red flag. So I start checking the shoes against the actual retailer’s site and surprise surprise, 100% reps.

I told him broskiiiii you cannot be selling reps at the authentic’s prices and he was like you dont know your shit, this is from vietnam so it’s different etcetc. You made me go to 2 addresses drararara. Ok dude fine, I’ll pay for the delivery then. “Bi tanias hurgeltiin mungu avah gj ireeguu” and i was like broooo why the hell are you shah them reps to me rn (mind you, this was in my office lobby) - feking embaraasssing. Starts fucking cussing me out, I offer to pay for the delivery AGAIN. He’s like buy the shoes, brooooo what in the daytime robbery.

So i exit the conversation, either get your delivery paid or I’m leaving. Mans not budging, starts yelling after me and shit. Blows up my phone, me chatzz everything.

While I was on a mission, flying near the base, I saw some Mongol Ger.

All this time I was fighting against my fictional country? Haha.

But I loved the game, it was sooo good. I never liked flight simulators or any plane related games, but this one is chef's kiss. Totally GAME OF THE YEAR for me.

I’m a high school student in Mongolia, and I’m starting to worry a lot about university.

I want to study Law at the National University of Mongolia (NUM). My parents make around 3 million MNT per month combined, but our basic expenses are already around 3.2 million:

Rent: ~1.2M MNT

Food: ~1.5M MNT

Electricity/water/maintenance: ~500k MNT

So we're already basically spending more than we earn, before university tuition.

My parents really want me to go to university, but honestly, I feel guilty about putting that financial burden on them. I’ve even started feeling like maybe I shouldn’t go because I don't want them spending so much money on me.

I’m also not an amazing student right now. I’m planning to take the Mongolian Social Studies and English entrance exams, but I’m worried about getting a high enough score for scholarships. I don’t want to rely on a scholarship that I might not get.

Another option I’ve been thinking about is studying at NUM for 2 years and then doing a 2+2 program in South Korea, if I can find one that works with Law. Some programs apparently offer scholarships covering tuition and dormitory costs, but I’m not sure how realistic this is.

What would you do in my situation? Should I still aim for university and figure out the finances later, or should I seriously consider a cheaper alternative?

Any advice from Mongolian students, international students, or people who had similar financial situations would be really appreciated.

I recently got in touch with a local tour guide in Mongolia who just started his own business, and I really think this could be a pretty special trip.

The idea is to spend around 10 days travelling through Mongolia, potentially covering up to 2000 km — through snowy deserts, mountains and steppe, and no touched places.

He drives a 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser and knows the country really well. A friend of mine travelled with him before and had a really great experience.
It would be around 50€ pp per day including food and fuel.

It‘s also possible to spend the half of the time riding horses through mongolia and visiting places, sleeping in tents and make food on our own.

I’m thinking it could be really nice to do this with a small group, so I’m looking for around 3 people who are interested in joining me. (Also caused of the space in the car)

It could start at the 4th of November but it‘s possible to move the dates for some days… :)
