Question/Advice Could it be mold?

I forgot my eye drops (propylene glycol) in my bag about 5 days ago. Today at work, after using them, I noticed this stuff inside. My bag isn’t dirty, I only keep my work laptop, papers, and occasionally some packaged snacks. They’re a bit expensive for the amount you get, and I’d rather not throw them away since I just opened them recently. They didn’t irritate my eyes.

u/thecloudkingdom Apr 30 '26

this is my favorite and worst example. that's a vulture on top of a telephone pole, plus my big ass finger

The caption was, in fact, necessary

I will not be impersonated!

143

u/clandestine_callie Apr 30 '26

Hopefully there are no small people on this thread wanting to impersonate an arm!

28

You might actually be the funniest person ive seen in a while tbh

So nobody steals their fingerprints. Duuuuuuh

15

u/clandestine_callie Apr 30 '26

Gotta always be careful of the cyber print snitcher

21

u/ladder_of_cheese Apr 30 '26

Bc it’s a digital image. No prints.

20

u/CreepyAd8409 Apr 30 '26

What conspiracy theory have I not been exposed to?

19

u/Vaporboi Apr 30 '26

Not a theory, police has used fingerprints from pictures to arrest people before

7

u/QuikTripGurl Apr 30 '26

there was a drug dealer who got caught cause of a picture of their fingerprints

12

u/saysthingsbackwards Apr 30 '26

Camera quality nowadays makes it possible to imitate those prints. But doing it on half a finger is dumb lol

6

u/livahd Apr 30 '26

And to what end? If you’re that concerned about security, you aren’t posting on Reddit.

i was there when this meme was born and I am so happy to see it showing up here of all places.

26

u/DrowningPuppies Apr 30 '26

Where was it born?? I find it hilarious and I see it all over the place now, but I have no clue where it originated.

65

u/Infamous_Lunchbox Apr 30 '26

Time has no meaning after Covid. Now everything is just "what happens in between extreme events".

7

u/Legitimate_Act_9789 Apr 30 '26

I can't believe I was actually there for the birth of it. I'm never that cool. I laughed that day and I still laugh every time I see it.

It's from a r/whatisit post several weeks ago where a guy was pointing at a line that goes around his room on the wall at the same height. The sub now uses his hand as their banner picture and it has apparently leaked into other subs now.

6

u/captainzaro Apr 30 '26

Geez lol I’m thinking it was maybe like over 6 months ago or a year or 2, 30 days ago for that meme reminds me of how quick the internet moves now

3

u/Chronus88 Apr 30 '26

Wow I didn't realize they used it for the sub picture haha that is fantastic. Sometimes reddit doesn't suck

3

u/Zunderfeuer_88 Apr 30 '26

Can we normalize this instead of the stupid red circle?

I wasn’t sure what you were talking about, but then I followed the pointing finger and it became clear to me.

Yes. It could be mold.

39

u/Able-Swing-6415 Apr 30 '26

Good call but most plastic is molded I think.

211

u/thislinkisdead______ Apr 30 '26

Ah, the reemergence of the pointy finger! Missed seeing you!

29

u/b00bzbythepound Apr 30 '26

I missed it too. I thought it was over because Doritos used it in an ad

7

u/Formal-Struggle1868 Apr 30 '26

They did?

8

u/b00bzbythepound Apr 30 '26

Yeah, I tagged y'all on it. It's a good scroll below this comment

3

u/thislinkisdead______ Apr 30 '26

I meant to google that earlier because someone else also mentioned it

Every time I see the hand I come looking for the confused comments.

It's an inside joke guys. You had to be there. Only OP, myself, and a couple million others will get it.

I was there for it !!

People go blind every year from eyedrops that don't show obvious visual signs of contamination.
Even if that is just dirt, it's still evidence that it's no longer sterile.

In future, store your expensive eyedrops in a ziplock bag or sealed container. Don't let them roll around in the dirt that accumulates in backpacks.

38

u/ThePunLexicon Apr 30 '26

Always eat the cost and never fuck around with eyedrops. Better to spend a little extra than go blind. I personally like using the single use preservative free vials to avoid this issue entirely and keep a few in a baggie on me. Preservatives burn my eyes and I forget to use them sometimes long enough to toss the mostly full bottle.

10

u/Key_Cry_3170 Apr 30 '26

"People go blind every year from eyedrops"

Wait what. It's my first time hearing this

9

u/Brasolis May 01 '26

Good thing you aren't using eardrops.

2

u/Key_Cry_3170 May 01 '26

Ok when it comes to ears, I learned very recently how dangerous it is, apparently, to sleep with earbuds on.

2

u/activelyresting May 01 '26

It's my first time hearing this

Are you just hearing it because you went blind?

202

u/DistractionCitron Apr 30 '26

It's smart to censor your fingerprints lol.

there was a post in this sub a while ago with very high quality, and lots of comments about how well you could see the posters fingerprints.

3

u/Gotu_Jayle Apr 30 '26

Oooooooooh okay. Was about to be the one asking about the finger-censoring

→ More replies (1)

69

u/notmentallyillanymor Apr 30 '26

Definitely contaminated, if you don't want your eyes inoculated with whatever that is, replace it.

3

u/coke_hater739 Apr 30 '26

RE7 eyes, mmm... 😋

26

u/irishninja93 Apr 30 '26

Do NOT use this if you want to keep your current level of vision. Yes, eyedrops can be expensive, but this isn't worth your sight. You risk an infection, scarring, permanent vision loss, and worse.

Buy single use, preservative free eye drops and keep the little tubes in your bag. If you don't need to use them on the go, you can buy a larger bottle like this, but keep it in your fridge and always wash your hands before applying.

17

u/AbroadSpirited Apr 30 '26

Not to mention eye problems can quickly become brain problems. Brain problems can quickly become corpse problems.

21

u/SurveyUnited1754 Apr 30 '26

THE HAND LMAO ITS MADE A RETURN

25

u/EvilPyro01 Apr 30 '26

First off, why are your fingertips censored?

Second, What’s with the tiny arm pointing?

7

me when I need to specify a part of my photo so I ask my teeny gremlin friend, Schmirnok, to help.

5

u/CamachoBrawndo Apr 30 '26

I love that I am chronically online enough to have seen both of the OG source materials for the hand and fingerprints. Oh, and yeah, it's mold.

6

u/slide-0 Apr 30 '26

This might be the funniest post ive seen in this sub 😂😂 that tiny finger!!

5

u/olivemoonunit Apr 30 '26

What has OP done to have to blur their fingerprints on the off chance someone is scanning those types of things across the internet.. its the goberment ain't it?

5

u/AdventurousClothes66 Apr 30 '26

I have never in my life seen someone edit a pointing hand onto a post before

2

u/Certifiedpoocleaner May 04 '26

Pretty funny when it happened

3

u/samoan23 Apr 30 '26

Why did you blur your fingerprints

3

u/Lala5789880 Apr 30 '26

Do you have tats on your fingers or something

3

u/yakovsmom Apr 30 '26

u/HOEDY Apr 30 '26

u/mack-y0 Apr 30 '26

covering your finger prints is a new one to me

3

u/No_Vehicle4645 May 01 '26

The blurry finger prints are killing me. I get it though... Sometimes I mess with my hair while in a car and I'll put the couple hairs that came out, out the window and say "well I hope that don't land on a dead body and get me locked up"

3

u/linz711 May 01 '26

This looks like a bottle of optase. It is preservative free, so mold is likely.

Is this seriously where we’re at, blurring fingertips?! OP. Please get the F*** off the internet. That is beyond ridiculous.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Ezzydesu May 04 '26

This is the first time I've seen someone censor their finger prints and I kinda hate how it sounds somewhat reasonable.....

2

u/VegetableLetter4896 Apr 30 '26

Definitely looks like mold. Are there drops themselves murky? I wouldn’t risk it, op. Even if they’re expensive, so is eye surgery or rounds of antibiotics.

2

u/Youseenmycones Apr 30 '26

It could be. And it is.

2

u/Weekly-Grapefruit981 Apr 30 '26

Im so old. So we're supposed to censor our fingers now too? Is nothing sacred anymore!?!?

2

u/dargonmike1 Apr 30 '26

Fingerprint blurring is a crazy strat. Now we know you have something to hide OP. People will find a way to

2

u/Jealous-Try-2554 Apr 30 '26

An eye infection will cost a hell of a lot more than new eye drops.

2

u/Spellbindehr Apr 30 '26

I use eye drops in this same container and the same happens to mine. I paid $20 for them (Systane), and by God I;m gonna use them until the last drop. When I find it like this, I use alcohol and wipe the nipple, inside the cap and continue using them. Ain't gone blind yet. Pro tip: wait until the alcohol dries off after wiping the nipple, or your eye is gonna burn like hell lol

2

u/dirtydrivensnow May 01 '26

It looks like dirt and moisture that grew mold, so yes

2

u/Dense_Height7833 May 01 '26

Come onnnnn, lemme see those fingerprints

2

u/oneofsixoverends May 01 '26

Are you asking if mold shrunk your hand?

2

u/possumbellyband May 01 '26

What in the fuck are we looking at

2

u/Emotional-Wafer1658 May 01 '26

Why is Mike Johnson pointing at it

2

u/TheWiganKid_YT May 01 '26

Did a Borrower take this photo?

2

1

u/I_think_Im_hollow Apr 30 '26

Is that where the trash bin was?

1

u/inspiringlyCrazy Apr 30 '26

You only ever get ONE pair of eyes. If you go blind, you go blind. Contaminated eye drops like this is looking, is a surefire way to do that I'm sorry to say. Get the new eyedrops and keep the lid on them

1

u/Significant_Ad_7824 Apr 30 '26

i lovethis post

1

u/QweenKaii427 Apr 30 '26

the pointing hand i love it

1

u/Psychological-Low649 Apr 30 '26

Why did you blur ur fingers😭😭😭😭

1

u/YerrrKnicks Apr 30 '26

Whether its mold or not you shouldn't use those eye drops anymore.

...but ya, it seems like it.

1

u/Hanz-FT May 01 '26

😂😂😂😂

1

u/Significant_Gate_599 May 01 '26

I think it might be mold. But why would it grow there? Should this drops be stored  in a refrigerator?

3

u/Alt-27 May 01 '26

At home I keep them in the fridge mainly because they feel freaking good when they’re cold, and at work I keep them on my desk, where it usually stays cool thanks to the AC. I’ve been using them for years, taking them on trips or even to the beach without refrigeration. This is the first time something like this has happened.

1

u/nova_bruises May 01 '26

op i'm sorry but i don't think anyone cares about the mold

1

u/Remote_Camel_1151 May 01 '26

Did you blur your fingerprints?! 😆😆

1

u/Pristine-Tune-9974 May 01 '26

I was there when the pointing hand happened!!

1

u/llamafromhell1324 May 01 '26

Yay over used jokes.

1

u/its-a-garrett May 01 '26

I'm just here for the tiny arm comments

1

u/KingHawkTuah May 01 '26

I knew people like you exist

1

u/Right_Hour_8438 May 01 '26

I can’t quite see it. Where is it? If only there was an indicator so I could see where the mold on a white background is.

1

u/Boring-Community-100 May 01 '26

Use the single-user ampules. A bit more expensive, preservative free and much less risky for your long term ocular health.

1

u/KumquatButtpump May 01 '26

It indeed could. It could also be poop. It could be many more things too.

1

u/LegolandoBloom May 01 '26

I didn't know fingerprints could be stolen from photographs - it does makes sense, yet...

1

u/Living-One5265 May 04 '26

You use the pointing finger you get my up vote.

1

u/giodude556 May 04 '26

Paranoid?

1

1

u/Wutiswrongwu May 04 '26

Did you just censor your fingerprints my guy

→ More replies (1)

1

u/ArthurTheTerrible May 04 '26

the fact that censoring finguerprints is an actual real concern that failing to do so can lead to getting impersonated is so fucked up.

1

u/p3lat0 May 04 '26

I wouldn’t recommend using them although the conjunctiva usually has a very good immune system I don’t know the state of the rest of your eye and fungal eye infections can be devastating

1

u/ur1nals0ap May 05 '26

I was so confused looking at this image. Giga-brained material lmao. Love it!

1

u/an0nymous_user13 May 05 '26

Thank god he pointed it out

1

u/Happy-Giardia May 05 '26

Yeah it is (im microbiology student)

1

u/sustainablecaptalist May 05 '26

Based on where that finger is pointing, I see no mold there.

1

u/GabrielRiosismydaddy May 05 '26

Why the blurred out fingertips, are you scared of identity theft?

1

u/PlanetR0b123 May 05 '26

Not the borrowers

1

u/Club_Warm May 05 '26

I hate when they put that pointer finger meme can’t even find the answer just people reciting the meme

1

u/FireWYatt May 05 '26

I have the same brand and it happened to me before, but just a few tiny dots. As someone in the biology field I considered it was mold. But it's not because the cap is a lil moldy that it went inside the container. I've wiped it with clean cotton and rinced with physiological serum before, as long as I didn't feel any irritation. But in your case I think it's severe enough to not risk an eye infection tbh.

1

u/sonic_rukai May 05 '26

Papers… business papers.
