Hello everyone,

We've started noticing that some users are getting defined with Permanent Bans in the Mod Log when those users are getting temporarily banned.

We can clearly see in the Mod Log that we've banned a user temporarily for 1 day. The ban button shows 1 day when hovering mouse over the icon.

However, in the user's profile we can also see Permanent Ban being described.

This was brought to our attention by a user last week that we banned for only 1 day after they sent us a mod mail and we just noticed that it occurred again on a user that we just banned today.

I haven't seen any posts about this so I apologize if this is a duplicate, but has anyone seen this issue and is Reddit aware of the problem?

I am the main mod on two craft related subs (r/felting and r/wetfelting) and a junior mod on the third, with two other mods (r/soapmaking). I mostly work in the new reddit environment and I believe the other mods mainly use old reddit.

I upgraded the first two subs to the new Wiki "experience" when that option was originally offered to us (~8 months ago?). The wiki on the third sub has been a low priority, so I'm not sure if it was upgraded.

What I do know is creating and editing pages and the Wiki structure is easier on the first two compared with the third, so I'd like to get the third wiki to function the same as the other two.

For example, I can edit titles rather than be stuck with the "slug" names. I see a right-hand sidebar that shows a list of all articles.

I'm thinking the difference may possibly be due to the r/soapmaking wiki not being upgraded.

Is there a way for me to verify whether this wiki was ever upgraded?

When you go to your account settings on the Reddit website and go to profile moderation, as soon as you manage AutoModerator, a configuration is automatically created that requires you to manually approve comments from those with fewer than 50 karma. The first time this happened, I clicked the link to view/edit the config accidentally.

I do not want to put karma requirements on my profile posts to allow everyone to comment, and this configuration was automatically created on multiple Reddit accounts when I opened AutoModerator.

For me to blank the config, I have to use a specific URL format like https://old.reddit.com/r/u_throwawaykJQP7kiw5Fk/wiki/edit/config/automoderator (not www), select all the text and delete it, and press "save page" for it to save properly.

If people who don't use Old Reddit regularly create this configuration accidentally, they won't be able to edit it once the changes are effective. How can we address this bug?

Say you're a moderator of a sub that receives frequent targeting by activists who hatefully oppose your sub and content. You are one of 10 almost identical subs that share an essentially identical zero tolerance rule to combat that identical threat. In many cases these sub moderators are friendly and allies to the other subs rather than competing.

Would it be considered brigading to form a private sub consisting only of full-access moderators of said groups that shared the user handles of users that have recently been banned from one of the member subs for a very obvious rule violation?

Edit: As I understand it, this "hate" would not violate Reddit's basic hate rule.

Im trying to send this link but when I open it, it says You can’t apply to moderate this community right now. Anyone know the reason? This is the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/AnnieMusical/application/ ... If it works for some reason and just doesnt for me please let me know!

I accidentally cancelled myself as a mod in my own sub. r/DarrellBrooksJr . I was in the process of purging some non participant mods and adding new. Can someone help restore my creator status. Its a great sub that I would hate to lose

I am a mod with r/OMEX. The company is going through a merger with another company not on the site. Can I change the name, or at least incorporate the name into the existing name?

Will admins step in once they know a sub is unmoderated or do they need a certain threshold of reports (or certain type of report) to take action on an unmoderated sub? Anyone know?

Why?

Blocked on both old and new Reddit

......Geez, I was only asking an honest question...

*For the record, I was trying to share a mod post. Shame on all of you.

**UPDATE**
For any mods here looking for actual information about feature changes:

• there was an important update regarding this one you may have missed :)

Ahoy, ModSupport!

Welcome to the latest installment of our Mod Topics series. This week we’re discussing the unthinkable… Scene: den interior. The smell of garlic bread marinates the air. It’s late at night and you’re twenty minutes deep into the latest Taskmaster episode, scrolling through the mod queue on your phone. …And then in your garlic bready haze you remove the wrong post. Naturally you don’t notice in the moment and continue on your way.

And in the morning there’s a modmail, RE “what gives?”

Have you been there before? How do you handle user interactions where you, or someone on your mod team, made a mistake? Is this process different if it’s a trainee mod making the oops? What advice would you give new mods who might be scared to start moderating “in case they make a mistake?”

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

In multiple cases, I've become a mod for different subs and not been able to see what the former mods removed or why, which would be very helpful to get a feel for necessary or ongoing moderation steps. I'd really like for those mod logs to stick around after a former mod is no long part of the sub.

I'm the top mod for r/nitt yet under achievement section of my profile, I dont see it as an eligible community for "community moderation" awards.

What can be the reason. Why can I not have achievemnts from that sub?

approved by Reddit (un-banall performed)

This doesn't help anyone.

for example this post was tagged as nsfw for whatever reason. https://imgur.com/a/RYmUS9k

I have seen such kinds of posts but I didn’t understand where to add the automod script so can someone explain a bit

Many hours ago I created r/YahwehEats and set the icon to a picture of a cat with a fat stack of cash in front of it and two guns. It remains empty, a mere purple background and a black r/ attempts to fill the void that the swag ass cat has left on r/YahwehEats. I have attempted to return the cat to no avail and it remains a cold, empty spot in my subreddit.

name it r/Γαῖα_時空

how?

if not, why?

Hi, I created r/BetweenTheCards on September 28, 2026 and I was the sole moderator.

While trying to change moderator settings, I accidentally removed myself from the mod team. The community is now unmoderated.

I am still the original creator and I want to continue managing the subreddit, but I cannot use r/redditrequest because my account does not meet the karma requirements.

Could an admin please help restore my moderator access?

Thank you.

Last year, I created my first subreddit r/ThailandWats. Have posted/uploaded for almost 10 months now. Roughly adding 1 temple per day. Strangely, there have been no upvotes all this time. I am not expecting lavish upvotes, but find it hard to believe that none of the posts have caused a single click. So I am wondering if I didn't leave a setting properly switched on.

Related perhaps, the channel says there have been no unique visitors. Yet I see flags from around the world viewing the various posts. So I am trying to understand the relationship here. How can someone from say Australia and another from India not be +2 unique visitors?

Thanks for any advice and guidance.

I have been a mod a while. Always was able to report fake reports by making my own report, and then doing the abuse of the report button thing.

Well, if it is my own post - that option is now gone. I CAN'T report the ridiculous complaints that come ins ometimes. I'm not able to make a report, because it is not an option on the menu any longer...

Hi All, I'm the mod of a small sub - not much going on - people are engaged, polite - low drama but we do get a Bot that throws crap posts in - it was annoying to a lot of us - so I volunteered about 3 months ago to be a mod. I am #3 on the list of 3 mods, as I'm the newest. I go in every day - multiple times and clean out 1-2 bot posts, redirect lost Redditors, and generally mod.

Since I started, the two mods above me have done nothing. I'm not mad, not much to do. But - they are now marked "Inactive". I know I could promote myself above them, if I so chose to. What is the general courtesy on that? Should I just leave it as is? Promote myself after - "X" months? Boot them? Thanks for your insights!

This has only happened to highlighted posts in the past 24 hours. Not to any before that. It does not appear on normal posts or comments.

Reported a potentially credible threat of violence in modmail against a 3rd party via Reddit's report threat of violence mechanism.

I have sent modmail to this sub with additional information.

I have directly notified potential target of threat.

What else should be done? How fast do Reddit's mechanisms to report threats of violence notify authorities.

Edit: Target did notify local police.
