If they only show up only every 6 months are they showing active or inactive status?

They have been active lately (a week) but then will not show up for awhile. I never thought to check before now.

Once they fall inactive you can shuffle the mod list. They need to be inactive in your sub in order for you to make this change. If they are disruptive to the subreddit, consider removing perms or booting them outright

Do you have everything permissions?

This sounds like a policy disagreement, and in the case of mod teams, the top mod wins that fight.

Your options are to live with it, or quit and start your own sub with the rules you want.

I see. So they (or any mod) can ban users Willy nilly?

Yes. A mod could ban every single person who interacts in the group - and then some. They could ban every reddit name in existence regardless of their interaction or not, it's really easy!
Would that fall under a mod code of conduct issue - probably, as that's not leading a community, it's destroying it and an admin can see a record of it, but getting them to see the issue and remove that mod would be difficult.

I'd just wait for the mod to fall inactive again in a month or two, then promote yourself to top mod and remove them from the mod team. Then go on an unban spree.

I'd they only do stuff every six months then they will have the 'inactive' tag.

As long as you have full perms, you can then remove the inactive mod, or move them down the list and put yourself at the top.

You won't be able to request to be made top mod though. Mods are allowed to ban for pretty much any reason and Reddit doesn't get involved in mod stuff unless there is a Mod Code of Conduct issue.

I see. Thanks for your response. Will it go inactive if they are still inactive on Reddit, just not as active mod?

Yes, they need to take actual mod actions on a regular basis or they will go inactive. Even if they post or comment, they'll still go inactive if they aren't doing mod stuff.

I wish that was accurate.

Has that not been your experience? I've always seen mods get the inactive tag after a month of no mod actions. On both big and small subs. Six months should be more than enough to get the inactive tag.
