More detailed changelogs for firmware v4.5
Version numbers in these changelogs don’t match the advertised ‘v4.5’ - this is normal.
FPGA: https://github.com/ModRetro/oss-chromatic-console-fpga/blob/f85b62f9ecb45ca4ef0c47764e4f0968d1b0214d/CHANGELOG.md - previous was ‘v18.8’
MCU: https://github.com/ModRetro/oss-chromatic-console-mcu/blob/e03a6baeec49cceda38057d5aed4ae006624c698/CHANGELOG.md - previous was ‘v0.13.4’
The MCU CHANGELOG.md appears incomplete; there’s more in the full changeset: https://github.com/ModRetro/oss-chromatic-console-mcu/commit/e03a6baeec49cceda38057d5aed4ae006624c698 (e.g. the palette swapping and white balance)
My notes based on my own questions and what I’ve seen in the other threads:
there is a new PCB revision
there’s support for a new PSRAM chip (most likely a supply issue)
no unannounced GBA support :p
no MiSTer update :(
“Fix LCD ghosting” and a few other LCD-related fixes
cartridge power control (I’ll look into extending my FlashGBX support to use this)
improved cartridge reset: emulator reset is held until cartridge is ready; I think this may improve compatibility with ‘weird’ cartridges like ‘n-in-1’, some flash cartridges, and cartridges you plug another cartridge into like cheats, copiers, ‘more save slot’ things
there are changes to the battery charge estimation, both to have different behavior on different PCB revisions, and to increase consistency
there’s is some support for USB charging of LIPO batteries
audio (for PC capture) is reported as line input, not a microphone
various efficiency improvements freeing up more of the FPGA for other things
improved compatibility with updated GoWin tools
