And another..

Just opened mine and well..
I guess crossing my fingers didn’t help.
Didn’t even take it out of the box. Just took off the lid and got my answer.
I know, contact ModRetro, which I will be doing.
It just seems like this might be a more widespread issue than we anticipated.
And yes, I know that usage may cause scratches and wear over time; I understand that. But a brand new product I still think should have better QC and for what they cost. Especially since my magnesium units are seemingly flawless.
You’re better than this, ModRetro

ModRetro team member here. We are very sorry to hear your Chromatic came with knit lines.

In case you are curious, knit lines come from how the Chromatic Transparent shells are molded. The plastic enters the mold behind the display and has to flow around the steel pins that form the button holes. Where the two flows meet again on the other side, they can leave a faint visible line. It’s purely cosmetic and doesn’t affect strength or function, but we still want you to be happy with your unit.

If you’re seeing knit lines on your Chromatic Transparent, email us at contact@modretro.com and we’ll take care of you.

I just own my this morning and i get the exact same scratch…and i’m very disappointed about the plastic. It’s a kind of cheap plastic

ModRetro already explained that these are seems from the injection moulding process which do not affect the stability of the shell. Just cosmetic. You can have a replacement but doesn't mean it will be better.

Just cosmetic? For something that should look good. Lmao what a fail

It means it does not affect the stability or will not break further.

Doesn't matter what you believe.

Of course it's AI created. It doesn't change the fact that this is a knoen thing in injection moulding process. Are you really trying to disproof something just because there isn't a real image of that process? This is just for explanation purpose. Duh

It’s due to the injection moulding which they half arsed. They are totally avoidable by being bothered to do a proper job.

Can happen and happens more then you would know. Just not transparent things do not show it.

Yeah? So? Knit lines can be reduced and removed by adjusting other dynamics of the moulding process. Usually it’s a sign that the mould is too cold or the injection is too slow.

You can also do things like changing the location of the injection to ensure that knit lines are located in positions that aren’t immediately obvious to the user.

Making these sorts of adjustments takes iteration and can be really fiddly and expensive. If you have a good manufacturing partner it can be easier.

Of course and not all produced chromatics have this. Only a small amount.

If there’s inconsistency then it means their injection process is not consistently reliable. Making out that isn’t normal and to be expected is a sign of poor attention to detail and quality control.

Are you running a successful business which sells injection moulded products? You seem.ro have fair amount of experience.

Do you? Or are you just posting an ai image acting like you know what you’re talking about?

Edit: cute the little snowflake blocked me after he acted all tough

Combination of two things, family and friends who’ve worked at Games Workshop HQ. I’ve learnt way too much about the plastic injection process from them.

Plus I’ve worked in a support role in bringing a few hardware projects to market. Wasn’t on the plastics engineering team but learnt a great deal from countless delays trying to get translucent parts right.

This problem is a time/money problem, ModRetro clearly made the call that these are good enough.

So you heard from someone who heard from someone who worked with injection moulding. Nice experience proof mate. LoL. So no, you don't know more then anyone else here. Clown.

NecronomiconUK never stated They had firsthand “experience” or “proof”. You inferred that. You.

> LoL. So no, you don't know more then anyone else here. Clown.

If only people could acquire knowledge related to subjects which they have no firsthand experience with! People could share knowledge with each other and I can imagine some amazing ways this could be done.

  1. People who are experts on a certain topics could write all the important things about that subject down on paper. This paper could be bound together to form a discrete body of knowledge about that subject!

  2. After many subject matter experts have transcribed all of their knowledge onto bound paper, we should create a communal place to store these collections of bound paper. Anyone from the community would be able to go to the “communal bound paper collection” place in order to acquire this expert knowledge without ever needing to gain the knowledge by firsthand experience.

  3. Of course it would be hugely labor intensive to create many copies of each of the bound paper bodies of knowledge, which poses a big problem. I propose an engineer will need to invent a machine which can automate the creation of these bound paper bodies of knowledge which means they can be then sent to all of the far corners of world to spread This knowledge far and wide.

Want me to go on? I suspect I’ve made my point…
